If Jalen Hurts Gets 100+ Rushing Touchdowns = Hall of Fame? (5 Viewers)

I actually agree with you.
Aikman was way better than he’s getting credit for in here
wrong. way worse.
Well, he has more rings than all of the eagles quarterbacks in history combined so he has that going for him I guess
Funny...everyone always forgets that Eagles had multiple NFL championships pre _super Bowl...like JUST pre Super Bowl.
I mean, if you wanna count Cowboys rings from the 70s, might as well count Eagles rings from the late 40s to 1960.

I mean, why cut things off at 1971? That's no more arbitrary then cutting things off at 2000, is it? How many NFC championship games have the Cowboys played in this century?

Not serious answer:

Oh noooooooow it doesnt matter how old championships are.

Serious answer;

Blame the Skins- they didn’t allow a black player on their team until 1960.

Personally, I don't think Super Bowl victories should be a factor in putting guys into the HOF. That's why I'm out on a guy like Eli Manning. He was just an average QB for his era. Same thing with Hurts. When his time comes, he'll need to have some individual accomplishments that wow me. I want to see 100 rushing TDs, 5+ Pro Bowls, and a couple All-Pros selections. Maybe even an MVP award. He's well on his way to that.

I don’t know. Having two of the biggest choke artists at QB makes me respect the guys who have “it”.

How much weight do you think Super Bowl wins should carry? Obviously, there are QBs in the Hall with no rings. So it's not a prerequisite.

But how much weight, if any, do you think it should carry?

Not much. I'm more concerned with how your stats compared to your peers during your playing time. How many MVPs did you win? How many times were you an All-Pro? How many Pro Bowls did you get selected to? What regular season awards did you win? To me, you recognize HOF play when you see it and it's backed up by a players stats and awards.

A guy like Eli Manning played 236 NFL regular season games, at no point in any stretch of his career did he look like a HOF player to me. His stats and awards confirm to me that he was nothing more than an average to above-average QB. That he won two of the biggest games he played doesn't change my opinion of the other 236 games he played. But conversely, a guy like John Elway looked like a HOF player to me. His stats and awards back up my perception of him. Even if he never won a Super Bowl, his body of work was HOF worthy.

And now we'll pretend that one of the favorite arguments of Cowboys fans isn't that they have more championships? OK, just trying to figure out where the bar lies.

We include ALL championships, not just the cherry-picked ones. You count them all or you count none.

Did you go to the sports bar to watch the eagles first 3 championships or did you watch from home?

I don't think you can assign a number to it. It's probably gonna get Eli in the HOF, though I wonder if it would if he had beaten Carolina and Washington in those two games instead of New England.

I knew watching Elway, Marino, Moon, Kelly that they were great QBs. I never got that feeling with Eli Manning.

I'm still out on Hurts though, as I said upthread, if he sticks around long enough to get another 45 rushing TDs, that means he's also putting up meaningful stats in the passing game and a lot of wins.

To me, Hurts is about where I thought of Brady around 2006.

Thanks. I can see that. I'm personally kind of torn on it. Obviously, we as a whole DO put a fair amount of value on rings. I understand that and there's absolutley something about being a key part of a team that wins the ultimate goal. But on the other hand, there are lots of factors.

It's the same reason I don't rail on teams like the Steelers not advancing past the round of the playoffs. I prefer to look at whole seasons.

Or things like I know people used to rail on Lamar Jackson in the Playoffs. Playoff games are usually really difficult. And there aren't that many of them.

So I put a fair amount of weight on rings. Especially multiple rings. That's a big deal. But they're not everything.

We had a discussion here in the SP not all that long ago where the OP postulated that there didn't seem to be many sure-fire HOF players in the NFL right now. I countered that, pointing out numerous players in several positions that I thought had a great chance. This was countered by the fact that many of those players hadn't done enough YET to be considered as shoe-ins.

The problem with this discussion is that NO PLAYERS have done enough to get in until they've played at least 8 or so seasons at most positions, maybe 5 for a truly dominant RB. You can't state there aren't many and then set the bar for player consideration so high that almost no active players even qualify for discussion. If you want to talk about future HOF players then you have to assume a reasonable progression, or if well established, that said players retain their current skillset until at least that age where players at his position typically tail off.
If you do the second (that he keeps current production/EFFICIENCY metrics), he is probably on track. If you go by the the first, you might realize he's probably not hit his peak especially as a passer/processor. If you then remember he's NEVER had the same offensive coordinator two years straight, including in college...well....it becomes much harder to argue he isn't on track. As good as he has been, it's highly likely we have yet to see his best.

We all are aware that sometimes a player falls off a Carson Wentz like cliff long before they accumulate enough seasons/stats to qualify, or a horrific career ending injury, but there's no value in assuming this when talking about current players.

I don't think that's true. I think the Packers REALLY tout their pre-Super Bowl championships. I feel like I always hear Joe Buck say "13 Time World Champion" Packers.

The NFL still counts them.

So, do we even bother with the US Constitution since back then there were only 13 states and the military was made up of guys that had day jobs doing something else?

And do we count stats and championships before 1993 when the NFL only had 28 teams?

Of course we do. Case closed. 👨‍⚖️

Oh noooooooow it doesnt matter how old championships are.

Serious answer;

Blame the Skins- they didn’t allow a black player on their team until 1960.
And now we'll pretend that one of the favorite arguments of Cowboys fans isn't that they have more championships? OK, just trying to figure out where the bar lies.
Did you go to the sports bar to watch the eagles first 3 championships or did you watch from home?
You listened to the game on this, huh?
The irony of a cowboys fan suggesting that championship from a really long time ago shouldn't count is unbelievably hilarious.
UNBELIEVABLY!!!!????

It’s 2025. Everyone just starts at Super Bowl 1. Except insecure eagles fans go figure

I don't think that's true. I think the Packers REALLY tout their pre-Super Bowl championships. I feel like I always hear Joe Buck say "13 Time World Champion" Packers.
That's because we are, in fact, 13 time world champions. Full stop.

You count ALL the championships, or you count none of them.
If you want to count football championships from when there was 9 teams in the league made up of guys that had day jobs doing something else that’s on you friend
The NFL still counts them.

So, do we even bother with the US Constitution since back then there were only 13 states and the military was made up of guys that had day jobs doing something else?
Whatever makes your heart go pitter pat gb

I actually agree with you.
Aikman was way better than he’s getting credit for in here
wrong. way worse.
Well, he has more rings than all of the eagles quarterbacks in history combined so he has that going for him I guess
Funny...everyone always forgets that Eagles had multiple NFL championships pre _super Bowl...like JUST pre Super Bowl.
I mean, if you wanna count Cowboys rings from the 70s, might as well count Eagles rings from the late 40s to 1960.

I can understand why a team that hadn't won ANY championships prior to 1971 doesn't want to count any history before that, but it's no doubt self-serving to do so. The league had been operating for 41 years before the Cowboys came along, who themselves joined in the pre-superbowl era. We don't forget out history when counting stats, championships or anything else.

If we got royalties every time they stole our insults we’d have more money than Jerruh.

I think they think we get upset by it. I just see it as more envy. That must be why green is their team color - it really does suit them.

Do you know what the reward for winning the Super Bowl was? You get to host us to start this season.

I tried hard not to click on this thread...and haven't read a single post ....but my curiosity got the best (or worst) of me....but is this where we check in if we need our fix of Philly fans feeling themselves and needing to create another thread about their "most popular team" so they can maintain "another" thread on the fist page....tia

That's because we are, in fact, 13 time world champions. Full stop.

You count ALL the championships, or you count none of them.

I don't disagree with you. The other leagues do it. Hell, I think half the Montreal Canadians Stanley Cup championships came when there were 6 teams in the league. Seems dumb that some in the NFL don't want to honor their history.

I don't disagree with you. The other leagues do it. Hell, I think half the Montreal Canadians Stanley Cup championships came when there were 6 teams in the league. Seems dumb that some in the NFL don't want to honor their history.

What does soccer on ice have to do with football?

Serious answer is because we count NFL championships. Prior the merger they were different leagues entirely/didn’t play eachother.

Kinda hard to be declared champions of the world when you didn’t play the other teams at all.

I can understand why a team that hadn't won ANY championships prior to 1971 doesn't want to count any history before that, but it's no doubt self-serving to do so. The league had been operating for 41 years before the Cowboys came along, who themselves joined in the pre-superbowl era. We don't forget out history when counting stats, championships or anything else.

The Cowboys weren’t in the league until 1960. The NFL got tired of watching Bart Starr dive over the center for a 1 inch TD.

Oh wait.

Guess that didn't work since the Packers still kept winning championships - and we don't even have to cherry-pick stats to say that. ;)

brett favre is a giant turd who tried and failed to steal money from poor people. he should be in prison.

Ya, you're right. I guess it shouldn't be that unbelievable that a team with so little success in the last 30 years has such insecure and obsessive fans.
Do you ever come up with your own material? THAT would be unbelievable

If we got royalties every time they stole our insults we’d have more money than Jerruh.

I think they think we get upset by it. I just see it as more envy. That must be why green is their team color - it really does suit them.
THAT'S what you came up with? Damn, I almost can't wait until the Cowboys become relevant again (If ever in our lifetime) so y'all have something to talk about instead of obsessing over a rival team so much.
You must have missed it earlier. Posters are wondering when you’re going to come up with something original.
"Posters"? You mean the one other cowboys fan here that you sit in Eagles related forums with all day, adorably liking each others' posts? So cute.
Well, to be fair, you Eagles fans create 700 threads about how "great" your team is because you won last year's SB and then when non-Eagles fans post in any of them you act all outraged and ask why everyone is talking about you. Almost as if you actually love all the drama you create just so you can claim "victim" status. ;)

You need to know that their move is to just take what you observe about them and then start using that on you. they think its clever or something, I dont know. You basically just have to agree with them or they all attack you and call you a hater. They even do it to their own in their own thread.

It isnt you, you are one of many who have had the misfortune of seeing how they are. @Cowboysfan8 and I just have to live with it because they never strop talking about Dallas.

how did this thread become cowboys vs eagles? again?
Every thread certain posters from those two fanbases go into ruin those threads. It could be a Falcons/Jags gameday thread and it'll be unreadable as soon as they show up. Of course, it's always the other team's fans who are the problem.

Dynamite drop in Monty. I mean, what exactly makes your post different than what youre insinuating?

Feel free to adress the poster(s) directly if you have somthing to say rather than use "certain people".
