Just re-watched the game on Game Rewind, and I think I was most impressed by his last catch, a WR Screen where Alexander caught the ball, turned and faced up Antoine Cason, and completely juked him out of his shoes and got about 14 yards. People as big as Alexander shouldn't be that agile. It still remains to be seen how well he can run mid-depth routes, and how good he is at getting open as opposed to simply out-running 1 on 1 coverage, but I picked him up for a $1 FA bid last week and it's exclusively thanks to this thread.

So I take it that Alexander should be the pickup of choice this week over Mike X Williams, Branch, Crayton, etc. for those of us unfortunate to have the #1 Waiver Priority in a keeper league?

Because of injuries to Finley, Cooley, Desean, and Floyd; Mike X and Danario are both getting the start for my keeper team this weekend.I snagged Danario last week; Thanks Otis!!!

Sure it would be, if it were true.

Can you show us that it wasn't true? Because everyone has heard the story, and seen the #'s.... Maybe you have some evidence that it was never the case?

D. Alexander started and had a huge first half against Illinois in 2007 in the opening game of the season in STL, but he broke his wrist early in the 2nd half after making a great catch and missed the next 4-5 weeks, opening the door for Maclin. When he came back, he took a slant for 40+ yards against Nebraska untouched right down the middle of the field for an easy TD. It was a thing of beauty and one of my favorite memories from 2007.He never became the #1 guy until last year because he tore his ACL in the 2007 Big 12 Championship game, missing the Cotton Bowl and then had complications with his recovery that caused him to play at about 80%??? in 2008 and become a non-factor because he didn't have any explosiveness. All the while, Maclin was torching the Mizzou record books and becoming a 1st round draft pick. Last year, he was the unknown product out there at WR because nobody knew if he was fully healthy but he took his opportunity and ran with it. We were hearing late 1st to early 3rd round draft grades at the end of the year, he got hurt at the Senior Bowl and dropped like a rock. So glad to see him make the most of his opportunity yesterday, he is a great kid and every time I've seen him out and about, he always had a huge smile on his face. Good to see that smile again yesterday in the endzone!So in conclusion, Maclin benefited big time from DA getting hurt, because Maclin was coming off an ACL injury himself in 2007 and was being eased into the offense while returning kicks. When DA when down, it accelerated his progression and the rest is history.

I appreciate the perspective, but DX only missed 3 regular season games in his 4 year college career, not proving anything as far as Maclin goes, just a bit that seemed like it was missed in your post..

That was kind of my point the whole time, outlining that he missed games early in 2007 after getting hurt in week 1 after a monster 1st half, came back for Nebraska and had one big play. The numbers and game logs don't tell the story because he lost his starting spot and Maclin took his role in the offense and then when he was lighting it up again, he tore his ACL...which caused him to play at less than 100% so that he couldn't compete with Maclin to get his job back. He really should have red-shirted in 2008, he was far from healthy going into that season. If people don't want to believe someone that has seen every one of his college games, that is on them. That is probably why they are just now finding out about him and why you and I posted on the first page of this thread back in the summer, right?Also, it isn't like Otis discovered a guy that led the nation in receiving...but he did pump up the bandwagon the last week or so when the opportunity was immenent. Props.

Being just 22 and having 4 surgeries on his left knee should be a concern. Not to mention he had pain in his knee after the game.

Sure it's a concern. If not for such health issues he wouldn't have gone undrafted in the NFL and wouldn't be this potentially great free WW pickup. This thread and discussion would never have existed. So, you take him with the warts or you don't. Everyone has to make his own decision on that.

I believe he'll reach WR1 status, but his career will be cut short by the knee... 4 good years out of Danario

If he remains healthy, there's no reason he can't end up at top-ten WR. He obviously has the physical ability and dominated in college. In his comeback and rehabbing he's shown he has the work ethic. In his first game as a pro he looked fantastic -- a rarity at the WR position. With experience he'll only get better at route running and learn the tricks that come with pro experience. Beyond that, he has a guy who I believe is one of the best QBs to come out of college in a long long time. If you believe in Bradford, and you believe in Danario's ability, I don't see why he can't be top 10 in the league. Perhaps even top 5.

Well, you have a talented rookie throwing to a talented rookie. Generally speaking, a situation like that lends itself to being very "boom or bust". Ideally, I think Alexander should be viewed as a flex or bye replacement. Considering him a LOCK #3 regardless of matchup is quite premature. I'm cautiously optimistic he develops into a 7-9 target a game guy by season's end. Given how much Bradford is throwing and the state of the Rams receiving corps, that's possible.

In all fairness, Otis did go further out on a limb. I argued over DX potential, Otis argued definite production and even made a prediction that luckily worked out pretty close for him..My post above was more to just have fun than anything else.. Everyone scrambling to take credit was pretty amusing, so I figured I had stake in that fun considering my early work in the thread.. So just for laughs, I don't need credit. And I was amused with the irony as well...

I believe Otis saw in DX what I saw, and his MO is to make bold predictions based on those views.. If DX wouldn't have matched Otis prediction, it wouldn't have changed whether or not DX is a great up and coming prospect, or my opinion of him, probably not Otis' or many other opinions either.. But it certainly would have changed the majority opinion of Otis in this thread (see Otis' other prediction thread).. So kudos should go to Otis for sticking his neck out. The unfortunate ramifications for making a prediction that doesn't come true though would have been a litany jambs and antagonistic posts that would have otherwise clouded the picture leading less people in this forum to the truth, being that DX is very talented and should do well in the league as long as his knee allows him to play.

Otis fills a necessary role in this forum in being the guy who searches out these "big potential" guys and he's not afraid to make predictions for lack of previous production.. That's how you stay ahead of the curve. No one is going to be right 100% of the time, so just remember when you see Otis miss the mark in the another thread. Even if a specific prediction is wrong, doesn't mean the player doesn't have that potential..

And many my not understand that a large part of the tone in Otis' posts is shtick, yes there is opinion and potential there at the root, but the bold predictions are mostly for amusement and discussion... The whole Hawks/Hawksnest/screech shtick is hilarious.. Definitely one of the great personalities on this board.

Thanks.I have Danny A in a ppr and Denario is sitting on the ww. Trying to decide whether to make the switch. Alexander obviously has much higher upside but Amendola has been pretty steady as far as catches. Can't decide whether the 12 catch game 2 weeks ago or the 3 catch game last week is closer to what to expect from here on out.Sounds like they might limit Alexander a bit until they see how the knee reacts to a heavier workload.

I'm pretty sure it's because it was his first week up from the practice squad and really the first opportunity to run those plays with Bradford. I would imagine he'd have an increased playbook this week given the additional practice and Gilyard being possibly out.

He was targeted on an inside slant that was incomplete, just out of his reach. He had the defender beat and could have probably turned it into a solid gain.In general, the Rams don't run many middle routes--and those they do tend to go to Amendola, who runs good routes and can find holes in the defense. They like to attack the sidelines and throw a large number of underneath passes that turn into chunks of yardage.

According to reports, he also said that it was "expected," that he did "quite a bit" and DA said he'll be "fine."

Despite some discomfort in his knee after Sunday's game, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danario Alexander was on the field today for the first practice of the week.

And no, I'm not talking about myself--but people like Gianmarco, Carolina Hustler, Otis, Fanatic, and many others who chimed in on Alexander being a great dynasty stash and worthwhile gamble, provided links and stats, in-depth information, etc. Praise is awesome, but there's rarely just one person to thank. Instead of trying to exalt one person or claim "I was first", it'd be nice if people could just appreciate the communal effort once in awhile.

Agreed, how does Otis get to be the one who recognized DX's potential when I built the thread before the season even started? Probably before most of us drafted.. Me and Cecil did combat on the first page....

So hillarious!! With everyone giving Otis so much credit i simply assume that he was the OP. It is too funny that you started the thread yet everyone continues to give Otis the credit, lol...classic...i give you the credit though! Thanks man.

In all fairness, Otis did go further out on a limb. I argued over DX potential, Otis argued definite production and even made a prediction that luckily worked out pretty close for him..My post above was more to just have fun than anything else.. Everyone scrambling to take credit was pretty amusing, so I figured I had stake in that fun considering my early work in the thread.. So just for laughs, I don't need credit. And I was amused with the irony as well...

I believe Otis saw in DX what I saw, and his MO is to make bold predictions based on those views.. If DX wouldn't have matched Otis prediction, it wouldn't have changed whether or not DX is a great up and coming prospect, or my opinion of him, probably not Otis' or many other opinions either.. But it certainly would have changed the majority opinion of Otis in this thread (see Otis' other prediction thread).. So kudos should go to Otis for sticking his neck out. The unfortunate ramifications for making a prediction that doesn't come true though would have been a litany jambs and antagonistic posts that would have otherwise clouded the picture leading less people in this forum to the truth, being that DX is very talented and should do well in the league as long as his knee allows him to play.

Otis fills a necessary role in this forum in being the guy who searches out these "big potential" guys and he's not afraid to make predictions for lack of previous production.. That's how you stay ahead of the curve. No one is going to be right 100% of the time, so just remember when you see Otis miss the mark in the another thread. Even if a specific prediction is wrong, doesn't mean the player doesn't have that potential..

And many my not understand that a large part of the tone in Otis' posts is shtick, yes there is opinion and potential there at the root, but the bold predictions are mostly for amusement and discussion... The whole Hawks/Hawksnest/screech shtick is hilarious.. Definitely one of the great personalities on this board.

I'm really messing around. I'm still awaiting Otis' response on Hillis vs Harrison (sounds like i'm inquiring on a law case). After the 2nd/3rd week he was still touting Harrison, while I told him that Hillis was the better option because Hillis was FREE on the WW while Harrison was rostered. My point isn't to rehash past mistakes, just that people make good predictions and bad predictions. Being bold just gets you the recognition, whether you're right or wrong.

Anyway, I am extremely high on Danario. If his knee can hold up, I think we have ourselves a gem. Watching the Rams game this last weekend, I believe Danario is by far the best WR option on that team, and he fits in nicely with Amendola and his Welker role. Kind of like Thunder and Lighting with RBs. Let's hope that Danario gets the targets he needs to shine, and most of all stays healthy. Soreness in his knee is expected, and not a cause for concern in my eyes. If he stays healthy, the sky is the limit. He has great hands and wonderful body control for a WR. He is a natural. The complete opposite of a Dwayne Bowe, who doesn't look very natural at the WR position at all. For WRs, the most important thing i look at is natural WR ability. Were they born to be a WR or not? Someone like Heyward-Bey is not born to be a WR, while someone like Crabtree is born to be a WR. Danario, from the limited evidence i've seen thus far, looks like he was born to be a WR.

Lets get a few projections out there!I actually believed your last prediction, but didnt start him. Im starting Alexander over MSW & Barber this wk, but I almost feel a slant pass for 7 yds.

I believe being activated was a good time to get a few sets in to lose the butterflies, run some routes, show some playmaking ability. The Coach now knows for fact that hes not short a WR and can start to evaluate the depth chart. I believe the pressure falls on Gibson to perform.

Alexander is must start moving forward vs. Carolina <-- I like the schedule moving forward slso
