Daniel Thomas Out (1 Viewer)

Picked up Bush. He has looked above average in his last two games. There maybe a chance that D. Thomas gets shutdown for the year.

Yeah Bush has done surprisingly well the last several games. This will be a chore though as he is carrying the load... unless we see MIA pick up Choice. Should be interesting.

What makes you think Thomas gets shutdown for the year? Bush's durability and reliability?
Basic reason is that this season is lost and he has been dealing with an injury history since pre season. He has a lot of promise. Why hurt his chances at future success with playing him injured?

just traded this guy away today. now i feel horrible
you would've felt even worse if the other owner would not have taken the trade. and with your reputation on these boards as being nothing but a gentleman, i sincerely believe you when you say that you feel horrible.
ok who is this? lol Im sensing it is dripping with sarcasm

Is there any possibility of a Slaton sighting in Miami's backfield? Hilliard doesn't seem like a workhorse type back and Bush doesn't seem suited for between the tackles. Why hasn't Slaton seen any action since signing with Miami? Did his injury take that much away from the ability he displayed in Houston?

But damn this sucks. I guess it's better than getting 'lynched' (a la marshawn last week) or getting a series out of him before he aggravates it. But I was really liking his match up this week, and he's a RB than Bush.. Guess it's time to give Reggie the rock. He's had some decent games.

I wonder if the blizzard had anything to do with this decision?

Posted by Josh Katzowitz While the Dolphins plane headed to New York had to circle for an hour before it gained clearance to land in the Northeastern snow storm, running back Daniel Thomas and cornerback Vontae Davis remained home in south Florida. That’s because both have been downgraded to out for Sunday’s game.Davis and his bad hamstring were originally listed as doubtful on the injury report, but Thomas was questionable and was thought to have a decent chance of playing. That means Reggie Bush most likely will start in Thomas’ place, and, as Rapid Reporter Chris Perkins writes, there’s a good chance Steve Slaton will get his first playing time with Miami. The good news for Bush (other than the probability that he’ll see a plethora of touches without Thomas around)? He’ll get an opportunity to prove he doesn’t stink as bad he and cornerback Yeremiah Bell think he does. For more NFL news, rumors and analysis, follow @EyeOnNFL on Twitter and subscribe to our RSS Feed.

:rolleyes:He's taking a week off. don't read anything more to it than that.
I don't think he gets shutdown nor do I think it's just "taking a week off". If this injury has been bothering him since training camp and he's now missing week 8 because of it (including a bye only two weeks ago) then there is a reason to worry about him missing multiple weeks. I wonder how much influence the front office has on his playing status. Sparano is all but gone but he probably still believes he has a chance at keeping his job while the front office would rather play it safe with Thomas. Either way, there is no reason to think this is minor.

Hilliard a sneaky week 8 play?
He had 7 touches week 4 when Thomas didn't play. His only value would come on a touchdown. If you put him at 50% chance of a touchdown and 30 yards that's about 6 points. I'd call it a desperation play before I'd call it a sneaky play.

Yep, third game missed on the season, hasn't played more than two games in a row, this isn't going away any time soon.

I just plugged Bush into my starting lineup. The Giants run D is less than stellar. It's now or never Reggie.

And the Dolphins continue to make sure they have no one on the field to help them win a football game. In week 10 look for Drew Bledsoe and Tiki Barber to be in uniform.

I'll be shocked if Moore isn't yanked before the game tomorrow and JP Losman is taking snaps.

NY Giants 40...Miami 3

They wont play him when he is injured, they will wait for him to get healthy enough to play and play him. Guys, especially rookies, dont get shut down for the season in week 8.

I don't disagree, but what were your expectations for sea @ nyg?

He has not seen much action at all but contrary to what this reporter states he's already played for Miami. He was active in week 3 or 4 when they played the Chargers and he caught a pass and had a carry.

in a ppr bush has gotten 10 and 8 points over the past 2 weeks (with Thomas in the mix).

i highly doubt he gets less than either of those this week. not expecting anything crazy, but double digit points is highly likely.

fangers crossed.

Problem with Bush is that they're not throwing him the ball. He has less than 20 targets all season and 1/2 of them came in one week. It's bizarre -- why do you bring in Reggie Bush and now throw him the ball?

12-15 pts in ppr and I'll be happy too

Dolphins | Daniel Thomas practicing Wed Nov 2, 03:18 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring) is participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2, but it is not known if he will be limited.

Our view: The team will likely ease Thomas back into the lineup this week. That means more touches for Reggie Bush and perhaps a few for Steve Slaton.

I like the kid, but I will probably cut him if be doesn't show something in the next few weeks. He would clearly be the best rb on my waiver wire, but he has been impossible to trade and is just rotting on my bench, even when he is able to play.

I think he could be great. But I cut him for a variety of reasons. To tell you the truth his biggest problem is not the injuries but the QB situation. He's not a receiver but the team has just deflated in terms of scoring potential. He was a goal line threat, now he gets nowhere near the end zone.

Thomas (hamstring), who was inactive for last week's game against the Giants, practiced Wednesday, Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.Recommendation: Thomas didn't practice last Wednesday. Even if Thomas was limited, the prognosis is solid for him to return to action Sunday. He will still have to share carries with Reggie Bush and could lose even more than usual if he plays Week 9 -- Bush put up his best game of the year last week, with 120 total yards on 19 touches (four receptions).(Rotowire.com)

Another question: Is DT a buy low or a stay away? I can probably get him for Lynch straight up but am hesitant to offer.

Daniel Thomas, the Miami Dolphins rookie running back, sat out the first game of the season with a hamstring injury. He played the next two games, against Houston and at Cleveland. Then he sat out the Dolphins’ fourth game, at San Diego. He played the next two games, at the New York Jets and against Denver.

Then Thomas sat out the Dolphins’ seventh game, at the New York Giants.

Sensing a pattern here? One off, two on. One off two on. One off …

Two on?

No wonder then that Thomas, who has practiced this week, figures he’ll be good to go on Sunday when the Dolphins play at the Kansas City Chiefs: That’s what the pattern has dictated.

“I feel good,” Thomas said. “I went through practice the whole week. Held up pretty well. So I’ll be ready to go Sunday.”

If the routine holds, Thomas will play this week against the Chiefs. And then the next at home against the Redskins. And then he’ll miss the following game, against Buffalo, with the hamstring injury.

Of course, Thomas has no interest in maintaining the pattern. No interest in sitting out.

“It’s pretty frustrating, doing that – playing one game and missing two and everything,” said Thomas, who has actually made a habit of playing two games and then missing one. “So I’m just ready to go out there and play, finally.”

The trend of playing two and missing one isn’t the only one that Thomas wants to reverse. His yards-per-carry average has decreased in each of the four games that he’s played.

In his NFL debut, which came against the Texans, Thomas gained 107 yards on 18 carries. He averaged 5.9 yards per run. That decreased to 4.1 yards per carry against the Browns the next week, when Thomas ran for 95 yards. After sitting out a game, Thomas returned and averaged 3.1 yards per carry against the Jets, and then 2.8 yards per carry against Denver.

It’s not farfetched to suggest that his lingering hamstring issues have caused his productivity to suffer.

“I’m just trying not to think about it,” Thomas said of the hamstring injury. “And just trying to get as much treatment as I can and eat the right things and do the right things.”

Maybe a homecoming – well, kind of a homecoming, at least – will help Thomas recapture some of what he has been missing in recent weeks. Thomas grew up near Jacksonville but the Dolphins’ game at Kansas City will be about 120 miles from Manhattan, Kan., where Thomas became one of the best running backs in the country during his two seasons at Kansas State.

Thomas said he has received ticket requests from all over. Friends from college. Coaches. Former teammates.

“Pretty excited,” Thomas said. “I’ve been talking to some of my teammates. So they’re going to come up to the game and a lot of other fans that are Kansas State fans and they’re [also] Chiefs fans – they’ll be there and everything.”

It won’t be Thomas’ first time in Arrowhead Stadium. He has played there twice during the past two seasons. In 2009, Thomas helped lead Kansas State to a 24-23 victory against Iowa State at Arrowhead. He ran for 96 yards on 25 carries. And then came last season, a rematch between the Wildcats and the Cyclones. Kansas State won again, 27-20, and Thomas was the star: 181 yards rushing on 31 carries, and two touchdowns.

This will be his first trip back since then.

Man I hope the week off helped him out. Just need to make sure they don't think he needs another week off. That would be a jerk move if the coach shut him down even after he says he's good and all his friends/coaches/former teammates come to see him play.
