Dare sit Kurt Warner this week? (1 Viewer)

I'm between Warner, Hill and Ryan. Leaning towards Hill.

FYI - I lost the championship years back when Gannon "got me there" and I rode him in a snowy, rainy game. He put up a stinker that day and it cost me.

I have Warner and Cutler. Right now, I'm leaning towards Cutler. :lmao:
Same situation here...but I have no problem starting Cutler. Matter of fact...I inserted him in my starting lineup on Tuesday before the weather details even became an issue.
I just made the lineup change of Cutler in for Warner......I'll being kicking myself in the ### until next September if it costs me the Championship.
Oh gawd...me also. Going for back to back SB wins in our keeper league...and playing against my brother this time around. I would prefer to be the one talking a little trash when I see him Christmas Day.

Let's talk Warner a little more with the news of Boldin possibly sitting. Does he value drop? Is he a riskier start now?
Something has been up with Boldin for the last few weeks and Breaston has been outplaying him anyway. He has been having uncharacteristic drops on easily catchable balls, and he has had a some costly turnovers. Boldin isn't playing well at all right now. It looks like the weather has changed again, and is back to temps cold enough to snow. I think Warner will be better off if the precip is all snow, instead of rain. The one concern I have is the winds. They are forecasted to be 20 - 30 mph. The way the weather has been changing each day though, my decision won't be made until I actually see the weather an hour or so before gametime.
Well over the past two weeks, Warner has not been anything special. I think the Boldin injury has something to do with it.
I think the Viking "D" had something to do with last week

I'm overthinking this one - still can't make up my mind.

Warner.. or Schaub...

Warner's last 5 game performance has me worried too - 1 TD in 4 of the last 5.

I've checked the various weather sites - none of them have the winds at game time less than 16-17 MPH - one has them at 20+ with gusts.

But that NE secondary is awful.

Man I don't know...

im in boston and the weather is HORRIBLE. windy, snowing, freezing...and another storm is about to start here in a few hours. i have warner or big ben, and its the SB, so i need a big play from my qb, i plyaed vs. manning and he lit it up. heard the weather is really bad in Tenn, with lots of wind, not sure what to do, but if it keeps up around here inn boston like the way it is, im gonna bench warner, im telling you, its bad around here,,,,and possibly no boldin? warner has alot of question marks today, i iwll try to post more updates about the weather closer to game time.

For what it's worth, I think I'm going with Rodgers Monday night over Warner. Full disclosure, it's the third place game so the stakes aren't quite as high as they are for some of you. My opponent has Boldin so I intended to go with Warner to nullify Q a little. With the news that Q might not play, potential weather, and the fact Warner could end up sitting a portion of the game if it gets out of hand in either direction, I'm leaning toward Rodgers. Unfortunately the weather in Chicago might not be a whole lot better than in Foxboro. Still, I can at least expect Rodgers plays the whole game and with his full complement of weapons.

That would be great - thanks - nothing like having a report from someone who's there.

I posted this earlier in the week at FantasyFootball.com, because it is a concern for the Warner owners - some of us don't even have alternatives as good as some of the early posters, so it is more difficult.......and that was before the question of Boldin's shoulder keeping him out of the game (which may boost stock in Fitzgerald and Breaston, but does nothing but hurt Warner a little more)..........and yes in a LCG, I am playing Shaun Hill over Warner, so it's not just some article by someone who doesn't care - PVH

How to Bench your Pro-Bowl QB

Dec 17 2008, 06:10 PM

Do you dare sit Kurt Warner in the most important week of the fantasy season?

Contributed by: Perry Van Hook

Well maybe it should be WHEN to bench the Pro-Bowl starting quarterback and likely MVP candidate, Kurt Warner.

I know, I know – it sounds like heresy since he is probably the main reason you are in your league’s Super Bowl or Playoff rounds. But let’s look at a few reasons why you might pick another quarterback to lead your team this week.

1) West Coast Teams traveling East – not a good track record. IIRC only one team from the West Coast has won a game on the East Coast this year.

2) The Cardinals are playing the New England Patriots who desperately need the win to get into the playoffs. Meanwhile the Cardinals have already clinched the weak NFC West division and can’t improve their playoff seed

3) The weather in Foxboro – according to the Weather Channel, it is now a 50% chance of freezing rain for Sunday.

4) Bill Belichek – an acknowledged master of defensive game plans, the Patriots coach knows he is facing a sometimes skittish quarterback who can be rattled….and may have wet gloves.

5) Warner has had only one multiple touchdown game in the past five weeks….and that was long after the Eagles had the game wrapped up on Thanksgiving night in Philadelphia (that West>East thing again). He also had three interceptions in that game.

Did I mention the weather in Massachusetts?

6) If the Cardinals are well behind (or less likely well ahead) they might well rest Warner for the balance of the game, protecting him from getting injured (especially on a muddy field) and getting some additional snaps for Matt Leinart whom they need to have ready for the playoffs just in case.

I don’t like to bet against Warner – the whole story of his career is inspirational. I just don’t think he is a great start this weekend. There were plenty of teams who lost with his 18.5 points last week….and I don’t think he scores that many this week. If you think you can win with 200-250 yards and 1+ TDs and hope for the upside, go ahead and play Warner. But if you need more….OR if you get penalized for interceptions and/or fumbles then consider your self warned – between the Patriots and their coach and a very strong possibility of a very wet football on Sunday the outlook for Warner’s success on Sunday are as grey as his beard.

My other option is Eli (who has weather issues of his own.) Probably won't decide for sure until 12:59.

I'm starting Thigpen over Warner and Big Ben - although I'm also start Randy Moss, Hiney and Nate Washington at WRs.

I'm only in the toilet bowl game but I don't feeling Moss is going to do much today but try to keep the snow out of his eyes.

Started Shaub over Warner. Why do I get the feeling we've all overthought this? Warner's the reason I'm in the SB.
We've definately overthought this - but Warner really hasn't helped you 4 of the last 5 games - 1 TD only. But, I feel your pain.Still deciding between Warner, Schaub - and I even have Hill as an option.

i always start my studs, except one week this year. moss put up 30 points on the dolphins.....im starting warner over matt ryan

:goodposting: That, almost as much as the weather, is what has me debating Warner v. Orlovsky. I have O in there right now, and trying to keep a close eye on the weather.

FWIW, in the ESPN live shot, sideline reporter quoted Warner as saying the weather is "a shock to his system, and he's not sure how the team will respond." Not exactly encouraging.

EDIT TO ADD: ESPN just showed a live shot from NE, and it looked downright nasty - steady snow, very cold.

1. Lets look at Warners track record before you say not very good. Game 1 at Wash 16-30 192 2 TDGame 2 at NY Jets 40-57 472 2 TDGame 3 at Carolina 34-49 381 2 TDGame 4 at Phily 21-39 235 3 TDThats 1280 yards and 9 TD's. Thats a very good track record.2. Yes Pats need this win but Arizona needs to get on track and also they could be playing in this weather come week 2 in the playoffs so they need to play this game.3. Weather.com is saying as of now it will be snowing 10-13mph winds adn 29 degrees. That weather isnt bad for the offense. As long as the wind stays less then 20 it wont affect either QB.4. The NE D is not the same as it has been. Its has giving up the most points to a QB in the last 4 weeks. The Qbs were Pennington, Big Ben, Wallace, and Russell.Pennington was 24-21 341 3 TDBig Ben 17-33 179 2 TDWallace 20-28 212 3 TDRussell 18-31 242 2TD. None of these guys are great fantasy QBs and they lit up the NE D. I dont see why Warner wouldnt. I dont care what Bellicheat schemes.5. He hasnt played his best in the last 5 games but he hasnt been terrible. Even if Boldin is out Breaston will be fine in his place. Warner and the Cards need to come alive if they want to win in the playoffs and they know that. NE is a great team to come alive against with the passing game.6. No way any team ever tries to get thier backup QB ready for the playoffs just in case. That is just no teams do.

No Boldin so an easy double on Fitz or stack the box. Not much offense in this game and a slew of turnovers. Arizona's offense is NOT built for bad weather.

Good points - the stats those QB's have put up against NE is the only thing that is keeping me from definitively going away from Warner. But, I will say that the entire offense has looked much different in the last 5 games - than in those that you refer to - last week it looked really really bad - although the Vikes knew they were passing every down.I'm more convinced than ever it is a toss-up.

I could start Garcia over Warner, who will be playing in beautiful weather in a home game with meaning, but I am sticking with Warner.

He got me here and it would take me a long time to forget benching him if it cost me the league championship.

Passing on Garcia against the awful SD pass defense to stay with Warner is a bad weather meaningless game is nuts imo, but good luck however you decide.

It's either Warner or Thigpen for me however the weather is terrible in KC as well. I know Warner has the better upside but at this point I think he's a boom or bust choice.

I just don't know what to do here.

I feel your pain. Really really do.On top of that, in the league that I have this issue in, we also get hit with a -2 for fumbles lost.

And then in my other league I have both Fitz and Moss in the lineup with TJ riding the pine. Dare I sit either of those guys? Weather bad in Cincy as well and now no loudmouth to take a safety off the field.

Why can't winning be easy? Just once.

I've got the same choice to make in the next hour. Every report I have seen on TV the weather in NE doesn't look good at all. Never took Warner out this year and may have to now. Garcia has a great matchup on paper....?

The pictures of Foxboro about 10 minutes ago on NFLN were horrible. Reporters were stating players slipping off the line when Warner was going through passing drills. This game will be a mess.

I'm in the parking lot at Foxboro and its like a Blizzard out here!!

Winds are nasty and snow is coming down like crazy!

Just reported the Winds at NE will be 40MPH by the 2nd quarter. Snow will change to snow ice mix by game time.
I heard that too - but all of the weather sites that do hourly forecasts don't have that type of wind increase. It looked pretty calm during that ESPN report - just snowing - which in of itself isn't bad for the passing game.I don't know.

:lmao: That's what I call sideline reporting. Great job!

It's official: Warner out, Orlovsky in (over Thigpen).

Orlovsky in my championship game lineup. Whouda thought?

I'm about 20 miles "as the crow flies" to the southwest of Gillette Stadium. The wind hasn't kicked up too badly yet, but the snow is thick. Reminds me of the playoff game vs. Oakland a few years back. Not a driving snowfall, but very thick and steady. Field conditions will not be good. I'm benching Warner myself.

From ESPN:"Orlovsky was up all night on Saturday while dealing with a case of the flu bug, ESPN's pregame show reports. He'll still start on Sunday against the Saints.

Spin: Apparently a good percentage of the team is under the weather for the Lions."

Yup heard that . Lienart will play at some point today. Cards will not risk Warners health today. With this weather Warner will be out by 2nd half.

I've already shoveled my driveway twice this morning and it's still piling up (AKA: I'm playing Schaub over Warner today).

Now Lienart is in the mix?!?!?!?!!

**** it. I just put Thigpen in over Warner. I guess it's appropriate - Warner beat me the first time I was in the title game and he might beat me, only on my own roster, again.
