Darren Sproles SD RB (1 Viewer)

Darren Sproles has been a huge surprise in my league this year. I am an owner. He is the #6 RB in my league overall. I also get Kick/Punt Return Ydg. With how Sproles recieves the ball and gets a small amount of carries, he still averages me about 16 pts a game.

Im just showing stats, he has been an alright play in my league.

I was wondering what everyout thinks about him, and where you guys think he will end up next year? Will he leave SD, or is he their franchise player for more a 3rd down back, KR/PR, and maybe some run downs when their #1 RB dies down. Guy makes people miss with very good leg movement. Does anyone think he will be the #1 next year?

Im a believer!

In dynasty leagues, does anyone think he is a good keeper? Sell High, Buy Low?

Just looking for info from people who has watched a lot of San Diego's games.

Let the talk begin!!

Do you get like a point per kick return/punt return yard or something? Not ripping on your league, but I don't see how Sproles is scoring you so many points when he's been worthless in most games this season.

In my 16-team, 5-keeper league, I traded up to take Sproles in the first round thinking he was going to be a monster after last season's playoffs. With the exception of a couple of long TDs because of broken coverage, he's been as useful as Trung Canidate circa 2002. In fact, my 6th round "sleeper", Jamaal Charles ended up being infinitely more valuable and someone I will likely keep because he actually produces on offense.

If Sproles ends up a free agent and goes to a team where he can play a Warrick Dunn type role, I may consider keeping him. But I haven't used him in my starting lineup since week 4 and he's likely going to end up back in the player pool come the 2010 draft. Big disappointment for those of us who felt we were seeing the 2nd coming of Michael Turner.

Whether it's San Diego or elsewhere, he'll probably go a team that can would look to use him in a Leon Washington-like complimentary role: 3rd down back with several carries, leaving the grinding out, between the tackles role to another RB.

I don't see San Diego franchising him again, so he may have a chance to find the biggest role (and $) that he can.

No offense, but anyone who thought Sproles was going to be the 2nd coming of Michael Turner wasn't paying attention, they are two completely different types of RBs. At 5'6" 180, Sproles will never be an everydown RB, he's a big play threat who will have his big games, then disappear for a couple games. In the league I have him in he's the #22 ranking RB and sccoring is .1 per yard, 1 ppr, 6pts TD and no points for returns, not bad considering where he was drafted. He hasn't been a major disappointment as long as you drafted (or traded for) him with reasonable expectations. He rarely gets over 10 carries a game and maybe averages 7 targets a game, its what he does with those limited touches as an owner you hope for, he's never going to be in the game every down. I've started him the last two weeks out of desparation and have been satisfied with the results. What worries me as a dynasty owner is if he goes to different team there's a chance his role may even be more limited than it already is. The flip side is that he might be used more frequently, who knows, its a crap shoot right now. But just on pure ability and explosiveness I'm glad he's on my squad.

He's overpaid for his current role. I don't see Chargers tagging him again... his stock kind of went down when he had the opportunity to carry the load and fell short. I don't see any team paying him big bucks as a FA, they can get a PR/KR/3rd back for significantly cheaper. I can see him landing on any of the teams that were interested in trading for Josh Cribbs a while back... (Dolphins, Chiefs, Colts, Jags)
