Darren Sproles (1 Viewer)

So what do you guys think of this guy in terms of dynasty value? Obviously the big hype is Michael Turner and how he should be on a new team next year and should do well. Does that make Sproles the #1 handcuff as soon as 2008? Although we've only seen him in limited work, each time I've seen him he's looked pretty quick and impressive. I've never seen anything really mentioning him and he could gain some real value as soon as next year. Especially considering that LT will be 29 next year, is he someone to stash away now or do they have other plans for the RB spot?

I'v had him for two years now. I always liked him, I kept him last year while injured. All I hear is about his height and weight but the guy is explosive. Someone posted he may get cut, which I find hilarious.

Comprehension down? For Pete's sake nobody posted that he may get cut.

What I posted is that beat writers close to the team have reported that he may not make this team.

Trotter in the Union

Canepa

Jim Trotter just reiterated tonight after the game, that while Darren Sproles will definitely be in the NFL this year (he's too good not to catch on somewhere), he's got a real uphill battle to make the Chargers' roster. It's a numbers game: if they carry four backs, Tomlinson, Turner, and Neal are locks, and Pinnock has an advantage for the fourth spot because he can play both FB and HB.

For Sproles to make the roster, he's going to have to win the punt return job, and Trotter thinks that Craig Davis is ultimately going to win that one.

 I'd like to add that even if Sproles remained on the Chargers for '07 I do not see him as the primary backup to LT in '08. The Chargers will adress this either in the draft or free agency.

I think Sproles has value as Turner will be leaving next year and he would likely be the #2 then. I watched the training camp footage from SD on the NFL Network, and he looked very good. The man is quick.

I've been one of Sproles bigger fans around here, after seeing him play a lot in college but IMO even if LT got injured AND Sproles was the 2nd back at the time, he wouldn't be the lead back. He was drafted to be a return specialist, not to be a workhorse. He can make a decent change of pace RB, but that's about it. He is just too small (weightwise) to take the pounding in the NFL.If Davis beats him out for return duties, he'll be somewhere else this year.

:goodposting: change of pace, returner, nothing more.
