Daughter's classmate committed suicide 12 years old (1 Viewer)

No one knows why. Took his own life with a shotgun. I'm sick to my stomach. Talk to your kids folks. You never know what they're going through.

Most importantly, any child who doesn't have impulse-control down is prey to this. Y'all know 12 - it's all impulse. Unless they've been taught to delay gratification, there ain't nothing bigger than the moments and, if the moment gets bigger than them......

Ok...thanks for sharing....WTF, dude?  Do you propose any solutions, other than the trite?   Stop being a ####, & post elsewhere ...I say this because I don't trust anything you post...& if you think its schtick, it's not...because some of us actually care about our daughters, & don't....you know what...

eta: shouldn't of even  responded...

Dude, you're one of the few people I actually seriously dislike...& I'm a pretty nice guy.  "Something's rotten in Denmark"...Why would you post this without any significant context?

Damn... just horrible. :(

Your daughter ok? you talk with her about it?

my coworker's daughter made a half attempt in the spring... about the same age. Was getting cyber bullied by a girl who used to be her best friend. Hospitalized for two weeks and in a heavy regimen of therapy and medication now. Scary, scary business. W 2 kids of my own... just terrifying.

I'm confused by a couple posts
Pretty simple - up until now Bateman has only made posts that made him seem to be an insane person - hard to know if this is legitimate or made up.  This is the guy who posted that he touched himself while in his daughters bed - I have to assume the whole alias is schtick and this is a sick joke.

I'm a ####, & I acknowledge it...but #### whatever this ####### has to say... he's obviously a sicko alias, & more power to you; whatever gets you off, ####face.

Just to clarify, I've experienced two in- law family incidents of suicide, &  I tend to take it a little serious.  Sorry if I come across as a jerk, but #### this guy & his petty grabs at attention.  I hope it's an alias, because I'm no "Internet" tough guy, but anyone who posted what he did about his daughter, I would take my Westwing™ brick hammer & decapitate him with slow & unartistic blows.  It really isn't funny, & I apologize...(as a damn, dumb, bricklayer).....for any offense.  #######.

eta: yes, my panties are inabunch.

Lol...this post is Neolithic & stupid...how apropos.

This is not a joke. Granted, I have made many assinine posts here. This is real. I'm struggling to talk to my daughter about this. There are no words.

They are doing research studies in one of our schools to track for mental instability so they can try and catch this sooner.  It's too bad this happened because I believe it could have been prevented.

Talk to your daughter.  I lost five friends in 9 months my sophomore year in high school all due to suicide.  We all knew each other and the depression became a snow ball.  Today i still get emotional thinking about it.  We had counselors, interventions, etc, but by the time those started, after the third, it had become so dark and full of despair it didn't matter.  Don't wait, talk today/tonight.

Dear God... I make my living on an inpatient mental health unit, so this is an issue near and dear to my heart.  Please keep an eye on your daughter, as well as her friends if you can.  Copycat scenarios DO happen.  I'm very sorry for your pain and the pain and confusion your daughter must feel.  I rarely do more than lurk here, but for this I will absolutely post.  To everyone everywhere - reach out if you need help.  Hell, if you need help, message me and I will make sure you get it.  Be well, fellow humans.

Schtick or not, it's a sad thing that happens all too often here too. Age of suicide is getting younger and younger. I blame bullying whether irl or via the internet. The cool kids are in their tree house compensating for whatever is missing in their lives by bringing others down/mocking them. Wonder if they are capable of feeling horrible when that person offs him/herself. I really wonder that, that it's not just saying what's the right thing to say after the fact..

I didn't read every post, sometimes it's hard to read about suicide, sometimes it's hard to know if posts are truthful. When I was a boy, about this boy's age, my mother took her life. I struggled through for many years because in the 70s we just didn't have the resources nor the recognition of need that we do now. My sister also struggled and gave in. I'm walking for suicide awareness and prevention this coming Saturday. Donate to AFSP.

Sorry to hear that 3C's. My mom tried when I was in 7th grade and has struggled with depression her whole life.

I'm constantly on the lookout for signs in my kids, friends and family members, as like you, many of us have been touched by these tragedies. I'm very vocal about asking questions and trusting my intuition; keeping it out in the light rather than a taboo topic. Watch out for each other my friends.

I hope Bateman's daughter has a professional she can talk to. All my best.

Coping the best way that we know how. Therapists were at school yesterday. Tough for kids that age. No easy way to go about it.
