RB Davenport Signs Two-Year Deal

Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-gazette - [Full Article]

The Steelers signed RB Najeh Davenport to a two-year, $2 million contract yesterday, paying him the kind of money that should put him high in their game plans next season. New HC Mike Tomlin has stated a preference for using two backs, something that is becoming a trend in the NFL.

Aas a Willie Parker owner i love it , much better that if they had signed a Jamal Lewis .

I am not worried at all it will be like last season ( Davenport will be 5 to 8 touches a game ) nothing to worry about.

I agree it's better than if a more proven guy was signed, but one can't rule our the possibility of the new regime using Davenport as the goal line specialist to save the wear and tear on Willie.

I agree but if his work load would increase he will not stay healthy.

I doubt Davenport will be a GL back - more of a Verron Haynes-style 3rd down and change of pace back. This has little to no effect on Willie, FF wise.

I disagree. With how fragile Deuceport is, this may mean even more carries for Parker.
