***David Wilson Bandwagon*** (2 Viewers)

i got him in round 3.4

paired him with mccoy and graham

shark swimming with guppies
Took him at 4.12
since brown got hurt?

then your a great white playing with some gupps
Nah, just a big fish in a small pond

we drafted over 3 weeks ago.
That's kind of relevant information. The real question being asked by people right now is where he was going since Brown's injury. Drafting 3 weeks ago anyone could have gotten him in the 3rd/4th round. Now he's a 2nd round pick at worst.

Maybe you should hold your drafts earlier.

You got me beat by 2 picks, got him at 4.10 the very same night Brown got injured, literally a couple of hours before that happened. Not sure how this will play out but feeling good! Can't wait to see how he does with a full workload in week one with Cowboys LB's and DB's trying to smash him into Dinty Moore beef stew.

all 10 teamers are guppy leagues anyways

Picked him at 1.04 in rookie draft last year. A pick I aquired for Peyton Manning. Planned to draft Andrew Luck there and was shocked he went 1.03 by a team loaded at QB. Tried trading #4 plus to get him but he wanted wayyy too much. Now I'm stuck with Wilson

Shut this thread down. If I wanted to know where you guys drafted this guy, I would join your leagues. But I'm not in your leagues, just like nobody else here. Nobody cares. Stop with the "I drafted him _______."

:lmao:

I only did it because so many others did. Not my thing.

But did draft him because he was a 1st round pick, showed Great stuff in preseason and there was no other player with his upside imo.

Now-

He is the starter on a presumably good team, and now has nobody else there that is likely to take significant touches from him.

His upside this season is HIGH and it is for his career too.

Offensive Coordinator Kevin Gilbride

Q: Will you go with a regular, traditional rotation of running backs this week, with Da’Rel or somebody else?

A: We don’t know. We’ll play it by ear. We’d like to see David go maybe a little bit more than what we’ve done in the past. With the weather and everything else, you just don’t know how it’s going to play out. Da’Rel is going to play. There’s no question about that and he’s going to have to play well for us. He’s going to be a big part of what we’re doing. What that translates into is number of plays. I’d be less than honest if I told you it was going to be 20 or 30 percent. I think he’s going to be in the game. There’s no question about that, but you’d like to see David go out and have a bang up day. Make a couple of big plays for us and give us what we hope and feel he’s capable of, which was a couple of dynamic plays. Some athletic plays that not everybody can do.

Q: Obviously we’ve all made a big deal about David Wilson’s big play ability, but you guys have also been upfront about what he needs to work on. Is he ready in those other aspects to be the guy you need?

A: We’ll see Sunday. I will say this, I have been more proud of that than anything else. I think he has really made a determined effort to be an effective blocker. He’s never going to be 6’2, 240 pounds. He’s not that kind of kid. He has shown a willingness to go after people and be aggressive. He’s done a tremendous job with what we call chipping, where he’s looking to help and sees a lineman and he’s stroked them pretty good before he’s releasing to the passing game. Of all of the things he’s done, this preseason, he’s shown a realization of how important that aspect of the game is for us. To play running back in the NFL is not just carrying the ball. There are a lot of other components to it. He also has caught the ball pretty well. I don’t think that’s ever been something that anyone thought he could do. I think it’s something he’s still getting better at. I think he’s going to continue to grow with it, but when we throw it to him he’s caught it.

I did, I reached for Wilson in the mid 3rd in several drafts before Week 3 of the preseason. I just mean randomly saying "I got him at 4.12" when the question being posed is "Where are people drafting him right now?" isn't valid when you in fact didn't draft him right now but drafted him before Brown went down.

This x100
This x1000 cool stories but no one cares.
This has been explained over and over again... people are interested in knowing that kind of stuff. You guys look at it as bragging about drafting him... others look at it as "Well I'm seeing 5 people say they got him at 2.04 and another got him at the 1/2 turn. So I'll have to reach for him in the late first if I want him".

Giants OC Kevin Gilbride wants David Wilson to "go out and have a bang-up game" this week against the Cowboys.
"We’d like to see David go maybe a little bit more than what we've done in the past," Gilbride continued. "Make a couple of big plays for us, and give us what we hope and feel he’s capable of — a couple of dynamic plays and some athletic plays that not everybody can do." Wilson is fully expected to handle much of the third-down and goal-line work with Andre Brown (leg) out. New No. 2 Da'Rel Scott will mix in a bit. The Cowboys are going to be without two starting defensive linemen, making Wilson a strong RB2 play with RB1 upside for the opener.

From Evan Silva's matchups link:

The winds are blowing toward David Wilson's breakout game. New Cowboys DC Monte Kiffin's Tampa 2 defense is inherently vulnerable to the run because its philosophy focuses on generating takeaways and sacks as opposed to up-front stoutness. Here were Kiffin's run-defense rankings for his last ten years as the Bucs' coordinator: 2008: 19th, 2007: 16th, 2006: 16th, 2005: 27th, 2004: 14th, 2003: 20th, 2002: 27th, 2001: 20th, 2000: 23rd, 1999: 27th. Add in the loss of NT Jay Ratliff (hamstring) to PUP and LE Anthony Spencer's inactivity due to slow knee-surgery recovery, and Kiffin's unit is depleted in the front four. Ratliff will be replaced by Nick Hayden, who was out of the NFL last year, and Spencer by George Selvie, a fourth-year journeyman on his fifth NFL team. The Cowboys have two good linebackers in WLB Bruce Carter and MLB Sean Lee, but they'll get gashed if Wilson consistently reaches the second level, and the odds are in favor of that. With Andre Brown (fractured leg) out of the mix, Wilson is set up for an easy 20-plus touches in addition to all goal-line work. I'd rank him as a top-five fantasy running back play in Week 1.

Yeah, considering the system and the injuries to the front. Wilson should be primed for some monster runs. Can. Not. Wait.

Dallas is down to 3 healthy DTs for the Giants game. They lost a guy to a dislocated shoulder in practice yesterday. Expect a big, big 2nd half for Wilson.

So, where do you think Julius Thomas goes in drafts after last night? ;)

Seriously, the season has started, no one is drafting any more.

no bradshaw or brown this time...

don't have any choice but to go back to him...

still could get 100 yards and a TD... :)

Coughlin looks more pissed about the missed block than the fumble.
It wasn't exactly a typical missed block. The dude was in the backfield before Wilson could react.
Wilson threw himself on the ground in front of the guy. it was a missed block.
Go watch the replay impartially. The guy was sprinting passed Wilson already when DW was emerging from the play fake. That might, you know, make it tough to square up and block him.

Have you watched any football today? Average RBs have been making that block all day today.Hard to find a delusional bunch this year and last year than the Wilson crowd.
HEY!!! Not all of us. I loved Wilson this off season, but my love is conditional and right now I just hope I can get about 60 percent in the divorce.

I think Coughlin's reaction said it all.
