For the last time, PAY Forte!

It's the biggest travesty in the NFL right now. No one deserves a new contract more than this guy and it is shameful of the Bears and You to not give him a good faith contract.

Sincerely

EVERY BEARS FAN

not like the franchise tag is an awful thing for him and he's still young enough to get a big contract at some point.

Fred Jackson meanwhile is putting up MVP numbers and has more time on his way below market value deal.

Matt Forte is making 900k with salary and bonuses. He's got 1100 all purpose yards 3tdsFred Jackson is making 2.1m with salary bonuses. He's got 1200 all purpose yards 6tdsBuffalo averages about 4.5pts more per game than the bears. Forte is something like 70% of their offense.Forte is more underpaid at the moment, though FJ has been pretty good. Not to mention Forte has a history of consistency that FJ hasn't shown.

Last 2 years, he's avg 4.9 per rush, 4.2 for the career.

You know, there's this thing called Google that you can use to look up stuff before you make things up.

I bet that Google thing could have told you that not all Bears fans agree with you, and you still put that in your OP.

Touche, though I assumed you'd know enough to see that my post was more metaphorical than anything else. If you don't believe he does, fine. I don't think you watch a lot of Bears games either.

You don't pay RBs big money, especially 27 year old ones. Just the way it is. You milk a good one for all he's worth on a rookie contract and discard him.

From what I've seen, the earlier you have been on here the better the posting for the most part

not really it just means you have been on here longer. just because you been here for so many years does not mean you have all the info.i've been here since june, i see a lot of posts from people who have been here a while not look up to par.

Yeah, unfortunately that is the name of the game these days. From a business perspective the Bears just don't have any motivation to do anything but make him play out his contract, franchise tag him once or twice, and then say see ya. I do feel sort of bad for RBs in this respect though. I don't blame CJ for holding out - if you can beat the system you have to do it, because otherwise you just get used up and spit out.

Forte is something like 70% of their offense.
70%?I think you should look that stat up on Google before just making one up.
:goodposting: Obvious troll thread here.
Especially since they just showed the stat on MNF last night. I don't remember the exact numbers, other than that Forte, going into the game, was in the 45-49 range, and MJD and Jackson in the 40-45 range. Something like:1. Forte - 46%

2. MJD - 43%

3. Jackson - 42%

So "all Bears fans" is a metaphor for "some Bears fans". That's weird.

Why do you care about a potential millionaire getting paid? It's not like he's coming to your work and batting for you, for you to get a raise. He will get his eventually.

but next year, Forte will get franchised and make a top-5 salary, and he's still in his prime so he'll likely get a big contract eventually.Jackson will still be making $2.1 million and will be 31 years old. Both deserve to get paid. Just not sure Forte is the "most deserving". I'm sure there are other players out there like this as well.

GM Jerry Angelo has heard more than enough about the ongoing impasse with running back Matt Forte but at the moment the Bears are standing about where they were at the outset of training camp.

It was at that point that the team offered Forte a multi-year deal for more money than the Kansas City Chiefs had given Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles. That wasn’t deemed enough by the Forte side and so it stands, much to Forte’s oft-documented dismay.

“Matt was the only player we targeted and we made him, in my opinion, a very lucrative offer and it wasn’t able to get done,” Angelo said on the WBBM pregame show Monday. “Our intent is still to have Matt play the bulk of his years in Chicago and we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Casual talks with other players have not been completely put on hold pending a Forte decision, which could play out with him receiving the team’s franchise tag next offseason.

“We always have a plan in place and we will continue to talk,” Angelo said. “These things are not easy to do but we’ve always got something going on. Is there something imminent? No. But we’re always planning and trying to create options.”
