DeBunking DeAngelo (1 Viewer)

Fair & Balanced
I followed the hype and plugged DeAngelo in the lineup and the guy comes out with negative yardage. While Foster gets 20 carries and 82 yards.

I watched the game and Foster did some tough running while my boy was on the pines.

I am throwing the Kool-Aid away! :wall:

Why don't you just be a little patient and wait for Foster to get hurt like he always does?

I Love the title of this thread.

I do think that DeAngelo is the De of the future, and he could be the starter by late season, but Fox is a hard guy to figure. I thought Deshaun was better than S. Davis, but Davis kept getting the carries last season. Becasue of that I have a hard time seeing Williams as the starter and getting 25 carries a game at any time this season (barring Foster injury). I think that this continues as a committee from here on out. Williams will probably do better than Foster some weeks, and vice versa. I see Foster getting 60-80% of the work when he is producing and I think he maintains 25-40% of the workload whne he's not performing.

In a keeper or dynasty I'd still make a move for Williams with an eye on next season. In a redraft this is just a mess. For now Foster is the guy to have, but I'd certainly feel nervous if I didn't have Williams as well.

seriously your fault. IIRC the hype was that he might be taking over, not has taken over.

After watching this game I think both backs will be used depending upon the running style that is required vs the opponent. Foster is a little bigger and a better between the tackles runner and Williams is faster and better at bouncing it to the ouside to stretch the width of the field.

In games where Steve Smith plays the DEF won't be as likely to stack the line to prevent the run and so it looks like Foster is better with Smith. Without Smith when the line is stacked vs the run, my theory is that Williams will be the more productive RB.

I don`t have Foster..I have Deang,,DeAgl....De..whatever.I am just kidding about the thread. I think they are going to stick with Foster this year at least. They just signed him to a big new deal. So be it.

I have a feeling that leading back will go back and forth all year as long as they are both healthy. It's a mess for those of us who own both. I'll be keeping Foster in until I'm given a reason not to.

DeA and DeS?
It was a split decision between DeW and DeA, but Z-Dog convinced me with being able to yell "Do the DeW" during the draft. http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...amp;hl=deangelo

Foster is the starter and it will stay this way unless Foster is hurt.

So this means that Williams will only be good in dynasty unless Foster is hurt.

Don't count out Foster to have a very descent fantasy season if healthy. I think having S. Smith back makes a huge difference.

I agree! I think Foster will put upsome decent numbers from here on in with SS back. The problem is I got DeAng in a redraft league.

Where are all the Foster haters?
Foster's at best an injury prone back in a time-share situation with a back who, depending on which player you OWN, may or may not be better than he is, and who almost certainly has a better future with the team. If your drafted Foster, he better have been your #3/flex or you're gonna be damned disappointed in his RB2 'production'.

Agreed. I think Foster should have only ever been considered at best a RB 3. But he definitely is one of the better RB 3's with a chance to be a RB 2 with a very outside chance at RB 1.Foster had a slow start. But if not injured he is the starter in Carolina this year.

Foster is the starter, but he is not the "man". If he is having a tough day and DeAngelo is running well, foster will hit the pine like last week. If Foster is running well he will get the carries.A very frustrating situation because you never know who will be the man in any given game.

Comments from Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox's weekly press conference following Sunday's 20-12 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

On injuries: Ankle sprain on DeAngelo Williams.

On if he is relieved Williams' injury was not worse: Oh yeah. Any time a guy gets hurt, you always hold your breath. Not that this isn't painful. It might require some time (to heal) but at least it's not broken.

On how the injury occurred: I couldn't tell if he actually rolled it on somebody's foot or it got rolled up on. It was pretty much a pile of bodies there so it was hard to tell.

Ankle sprains are often worse than breaking a bone. If I were a football player and had to choose, I'd much rather have a broken bone than a bad ankle sprain.

I like Williams for next year - but this year it looks like Foster's job 100%.....unless the injury bug hits again. If healthy Foster is in a top 12 situation.

Reminder:

Deangelo Williams is still a whole lot better at football than Deshaun Foster.

Otis..they both have been debinked..er debunked. Sorry for stealing your word..but I use it all the time now. Love that word!

nice reception by DeAngelo... he is VERY fast in the open field. although today he hasn't really proven to run well between the tackles

Did he actually get 101 receiving?

For some reason I missed this play:

1-15-CAR41 (8:25) J.Delhomme pass incomplete short left to N.Goings (D.Howard).

2-15-CAR41 (8:19) J.Delhomme pass short right to D.Williams to CAR 49 for 8 yards (L.Sheppard, D.Howard).

3-7-CAR49 (7:31) J.Delhomme pass deep left int

with the scoring errors happening lately, I just wanted to be sure.

a bye depends on it.

Absolutely. There was a false start penalty (#84 I believe), then an incompletion. The pass was caught at about the 45 yard line and DeAngelo took it a few more yards before being tackled.
