That means 60 percent of your time and money was wasted. Get accepted into a school, get applied for all the financi aid, and start working your butt off to save some cash. To be honest, I'm just damn proud to about to even finish this Associates. If I could:

1.) Finish my Associates.

2.) Find a new job / get promoted at current job.

3.) Buy a new car.

4.) Move out of my parent's house.

5.) Attend a University (even part time).

I would consider that a huge success for 2015.

1 through 4 are pointless at this time in your life.

I gotta say, being able to hold a job for more than two years and get promoted is probably better than 2/3 of the 23 year old sans higher education crowd.

It does show that he has some work ethic, but it's not how he's going to do well. I'll go out on the limb and say Em has potential but he's wasting his time doing what he's doing.

Believe me, I feel much worse about my situation than any of you could possibly make me feel.

I dropped out of college 3-4 years ago because I was dating a hot red headed chick with huge knockers. My life tornadoed downward from that point and I am just now finding some stability.

I have 5 classes left to complete for my Associates and have a job making $11.75 where I may be getting promoted soon. If not, I'd like to get a job at a bank or somewhere I can make at least $15.00 an hour.

I should have about 5 months this year between going to Baker College and my University where I can save up some money with having to spend money on tuition, books, etc.

We have the over/under for the number of years it would take you to complete a generic Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college set at 6.5. Too much action at 5.5 and the line moved accordingly.

It's a weed culture in this area. You either go to school and move away or stay in town and burn out...Unless you go to Olivet, the Christian University.

That's what happens when you trust this kid. Someone earlier complimited you on actually having a plan, as far fetched as it is, and holding a job. These are two things that you should get credit for. Now if you would just start taking advice from those of us that have been there and done that you might actually start making some progress.

No point at all actually. Doesn't create more earning power. I went ahead and received my bachelor's degree in finance without ever getting my associates. Saved having to pay for 3 or 4 classes.

Because $3 is #### in the big picture. $3*2000 hours a year is $6000, minus SS and any other taxes.

There's two reasons why you stay in a low paying job like that:

- You are learning special skills and that is the only way to do it

- You are trying to work your way up into management at the company

I applaud Em for having the work ethic to stick with a job like that (I never did) but it's wasting time that could be more productive.

I also believe that many young people fall into the trap of thinking they are making 'good money' because they can pay for an apartment, buy a car, and afford to take a girl out. The next thing you know the chick is pregnant, the guy doesn't have time/energy to go to school anymore and ends in a dead end job the rest of his life.

You're training you make $14.00 - 16.00 an hour and then eventually you get bumped up to $17.00+ when you finish all the requirements. There may be some variance here, I've heard a lot of different numbers on this.They're more prone to promote someone with an education versus someone without any degree. This position is salary.

I would have gotten that promotion if I had only finished my associates instead of going ahead an enrolling in a 4 year bachelors program - said no one ever.

A transcript with 60+ college hours showing you on track to a b.s. is just as much of "an education" and way more impressive than a community college associates degree IMO.
