Any KC running back has the potential to perform well. Behind Larry Johnson, it seems to me that Dee Brown is the primary backup. In '02, he filled in for 3 games for the Panthers and had a statline of 102 carries for 360 yards and 4 TDs. He's been a career backup for the most part, never really having been given the starting role.

If something should happen to LJ, and Brown gets the gig in KC, I think he could put up respectable numbers. In a redraft league - worth a round 16 or higher flier?

That is top notch information there. For one, the bolded part makes little sense and for another, Bennett won't be having a big workload in Kansas City. I think he'll settle into that back-up role nicely and may come out of this as a viable #1 candidate elsewhere in 2007.

you think Bennett will be a starter in 2007????? You realize that he has had over 175 carries once, 130 carries only twice in his illustrious five year career.

This was the question I had reading that update - was KC that desperate? If they were, that give you your Dee Brown answer.

This was the question I had reading that update - was KC that desperate? If they were, that give you your Dee Brown answer.

It kept his value low, why not grab him if ya can? He can rehab at your training facility or at the Rams training facility. It's not like the Texans drafting Boselli knowing he may never be the same player, Bennett should heal up.As far as this thread and backup talk-McKenzi Smith(IMO) is the best backup there but he has no NFL experience(or barely any) and is a prototypical 3rd string RB young guy with potential type. He was on the practice squad a couple years back, bumped up to "bench warmer" and....that's where he is, he's not a stud backup.Q stinks and will get cutDee is just average and despite how he looks/looked returning punts or kicks, he has no punch or burst to his running when he's playing RB.Above is exactly how it broke down last year in camp too BTW with those 3.None of them seem likely to play should LJ get hurt.Bennett will heal up or Priest will finally get cleared by a doc or they'll get someone off the WW. It's a fun thought but I don't foresee them being any value in FF

No? Bennett was the backup the second he came to town. Dee Brown only made the team because he plays well on special teams, otherwise they would have kept McKenzie Smith.

Just like I said in the last Dee Brown (sleeper) thread, he's not going to do anything this season. He'll get only a few carries (and even less now that a new backup is in town, just as I predicted), and he won't do a lot with those that he gets.

The guy just isn't any good. And take the idea out of your mind that anyone will do everything behind "that line".

"That line" doesn't exist. That's why you're seeing so many drop the Chiefs off the face of the earth when it comes to predictions.

Glad this thread came back up. I have LJ but two different guys in my league have Bennett and Brown. Both are trying to get me make a trade for LJ's backup.

For all that Bennett appears to be the clear backup, I can't help feeling he's an injury risk and that in any case, if LJ did get hurt, Bennett wouldn't be suited to carrying the load - he'd be more of a change of pace guy. They'd still need someone to slam it in there and in the absence of anyone else, that would give Brown an opportunity.

Not from the KC area, but I trained with Brown during the off season. He will be money if he gets an opportunity and will own that walking injury called Bennett.
