"Deep Sleepers" Article of 8/02 (1 Viewer)

The Experts article is anticiptated and appreciated each year about this time.....a look past the 150 deep to the not so obvious.

There's bound to be an ommision (or two) thaty slipped by these guys, the most obvious being Devin Hester at the WR position.

I know that CHI is incredibly blessed with WR talent and that Hester will have to fight for his 60 receptions as a #3 WR on this club for 1150 yards and nine TD's but how could all those guys miss Hester?

Thirty-two different WR's, fourteen of which are guys with more than one vote (that leaves eighteen guys with one vote each) and not one guy mentions Hester?

Common now. If you can mange to include two votes for Wes Welker (who's in line for a similar number of catches but is a lesser threat to average 20 yards/reception or score multiple TD's), you've got to have at least one vote for Hester?

And, are there any other obvious ommisions?

Devin Hester will be the #3 (if he's lucky) receiving option on a team that will run the ball 500 times and still features the wildly inconsistent Rex Grossman at QB.

Hester is a freaking wasted draft pick if you take him anywhere before the 15th round. The guy will not have a meaningful impact as a WR. He is far to valuable returning kicks to have him get clobbered by a LB somewhere and injuring him. I WOULD BE SHOCKED IF HE HAD MORE THAN 30 RECEPTIONS ON THE SEASON.

Good thing FBG has you around to correct this gross injustice. lol at an obvious ommission in "a look past the 150 deep to the not so obvious"ETA - After reading this thread, it seems pretty obvious that he is NOT an obvious candidate. :towelwave:

Hester is worthless unless your league awards points for return yards. That was not considered when we named our sleepers. We used FBG scoring.

If given the choice, I'd take Gaffney over Welker as the sleeper on the Pats. He has looked GREAT so far and really started getting on the same page with Brady in the playoffs last year.Moss and Stallworth are already semi-banged up. I still don't think either is worthy of making that deep sleeper report - just pointing out Gaffney's efforts so far.
