Defense Week 2 - WW Opportunity (1 Viewer)

Cincy D looks like the best matchup this week. -Cleveland looked awful last week-There's a good chance that Weeden will provide a few INT opportunities-The Browns have one of the most in experienced group of offensive starters in the league including rookie QB and RB starters-The Bengals are coming off of an embarrassing loss and will want a big bounceback game-It's a the home opener so the crowd will be pumped and could cause some problems for a young Cleveland teamIt's a perfect storm.
Doesn't this make a difference?... Bengals lose starting LB Howard to torn ACLBengals WLB Thomas Howard is out for the season after tearing his ACL in Wednesday's practice. It's a huge loss for Mike Zimmer's defense. Howard was the Bengals' leading tackler last season and their best defender at Baltimore in Week 1, playing all 62 snaps. Core special teamer Dan Skuta is top candidate to take over on the weak side. The 29-year-old Howard was in the final season of a two-year, $6.5 million contract.Source: Joe Reedy on TwitterSep 14 - 12:47 PM
(AND ALSO) Doesn't this make a difference?... Carlos Dunlap - DL - BengalsBengals DE Carlos Dunlap (knee) is questionable for Week 2.Dunlap didn't practice at all last week and missed Cincinnati's Week 1 loss to the Ravens. He practiced on a limited basis this week and hopes to return. The Bengals missed their best pass rusher badly against the Ravens, as Joe Flacco had all day to unleash the ball down field. If Dunlap can't suit up, expect a rotation led by Robert Geathers.Sep 15 - 7:13 PM
Yikes, I'm starting to second guess my pick of Cincy...
Ugh. I'll still roll with them expecting several turn-overs and maybe a low-scoring game in general.

Let's rev up the "Rent a DEEEEE" carousel, version 2012 ...

For me, there is one hard/fast rule ... ALWAYS take the home team when torn on these matters. Makes living with my decision(s) that much easier. If I swing and miss, so be it. But it helps alleviate the AGITA of hemming and hawing.

Three choice options out there this week, let's look, shall we?

1. Cincinatti: don't care if they are down to a squad of all third stringers ... at home vs. Weedon/TRich/Little? After being embarrassed in crab cake city on national TV? YES, please. No brainer pick. If you can/did snag 'em, just plug and play. It is the high percentage move. Relax.

2. Buffalo: crapped the crib last week, no? They certainly weren't helped by multiple turnovers from the offense ... but still generated ZERO pressure on the Dirty Sanchize Still think this is a decent unit, and at home this week, vs. Cassel et al, I think they notch it up quite a bit ... nowhere to go BUT up, ya hear? If you suffered them last week, hold on .... reversal of fortune in the Wingy city come Sunday.

3. Miami: the Fish have a very respectable front 7 .... the Raiders have DMac ... can someone say "checkmate"? McFadden will get his, but I think front 7 do enough to contain him, and generate enough pressure on Carson sh!ity to make a very worthwhile start. Cavaet Emptor here, though ... the rook QB must not turn it over .... only so much bending a defense can do before breaking (see: BUFFALO, week one).

Think all 3 make for nice options, but prefer Cincy most.

And always remember: When in doubt, TROT THE HOME TEAM OUT

If you watched the Philly game last week you wouldn't be.

:goodposting: Like the spin on this given here ... as far as true WW defense out there, think Miami has to be pretty easy to snag, and can deliver at home ... factor in the Raiders making the cross country trek, with the early game, after a short week which saw them play the late Monday nighter, and ... for the Fish.Agree on Tannehill being the key here ... clean game from the kid is imperative.

Seattle is such a different team at home but I still went with Dallas this week. I think their aggressive style will give a rookie QB some trouble. In another league I went with Washington for reasons already stated here.

A big fan of always going with the home team which is why I am not feeling all the best about these but I think the match-ups are pretty good.

At what point would the "go with the home team" trump a decent road matchup?

OAK has to fly cross country on a short week, for example. Tannehill is a great defensive matchup, and the weather is dicey.

SD plays a better offensive team in TEN, but Locker and the WRs are banged up and CJ just got some tragic personal news.

Man, decisions...

So are the Browns not the layup we thought? Still got good points from Cincy with the return but that offense actually looked above average today.
