What are your thought about team Defenses and there importance during the playoffs. Our league plays 12 team/16 roster, redraft yahoo league. Def. scoring is as follows.

Sack (1)

Interception (2)

Fumble Recovery (2)

Touchdown (6)

Safety (2)

Block Kick (2)

Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (6)

Points Allowed 0 points (10)

Points Allowed 1-6 points (7)

Points Allowed 7-13 points (4)

Points Allowed 14-20 points (1)

Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)

Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1)

Points Allowed 35+ points (-4)

I have a solid team (see Signature) but, consider my DEF to be weak. Although not to weak considering KC's schedule going forward.

The question, is it worth trading a solid RB or WR (if you have the depth) for one of the league's ranked defenses?

Chicago (#1) and Ravens (#2) owners will not trade. Now targetting a Team that has the Eagles(#7) and Broncos (#3)

Interestingly, the Broncos Owner is in DIRE need of a RB and needs a some "W's" to even make the playoffs. I would only trade for the Broncos D but he wants Lewis or Foster, which I understand because he needs the help. Am I placing to much emphasis on a highly ranked DEF?

DEF is feast or famine with great variability even with seemingly good matchups but they can put up huge points and every point can count when you're in the playoffs and it's one Loss and done.

I have PIT on my roster but I'm far from satisfied and will therefore be playing a two team rotation involving PIT and KC and may rotate in others to play the best matchup each week. If I have to drop PIT I will. It's guerilla warefare at this point and no aggressive move is left undone.

I believe that the worst 5 points against defenses give up on average the same as the top 5 points scored defense. That is, if you can play Oakland every week, that is just as good as having Chicago.

In my league, the worst 5 offenses have given up the following:

1.Raiders ....178.00

2.Browns......134.00

3.Steelers.....133.00

4.Cardinals...123.00

5.Dolphins.....111.00

the top 5 defenses have scored:

1.Ravens, Baltimore BAL Def.......161.00

2.Bears, Chicago CHI Def............132.00

3.Chargers, San Diego SDC Def...117.00

4.Vikings, Minnesota MIN Def........107.00

5.Jaguars, Jacksonville JAC Def.....103.00

so, in fact if you could consistantly play the worst 5 teams, you would do better than if you had the top teams.

That being said, KC has an excellent defensive schedule down the stretch, but you will have to worry about week 15.
