Yes I agree he has been. Sanders has matured some. I think his knowledge of Qbs and the passing game as well as defense is a very good combination with Marshall Faulk and his knowledge of Rbs Oline and how to attack a defense.

Would love to have these 2 as commentators in the future.

Me3, and agree re: Deion and Faulk. Gotta wonder if Deion would start his random SCREAMING bit if it was his full time gig, though. THAT wouldn't work.

Pretty good. It shouldn't be surprising though. The guy is one of the best cornerbacks to ever play the game. While his athletisism was unreal he was also a very smart football player.

I don't think either of them could be a play-by-play commentator but i enjoyed listening to them tonight. Just need to get rid of the other guy..

Goes back to the Bill Simmons article from a few weeks back. He listed some of the best announcing teams and 2 that he mentioned were the Gus Johnson team and even Jesse Palmer. His theory was that producers didnt get a chance to "affect" these green commentators negatively yet.

i agree, he was pretty good.

it is unusual for an announcer to pick up on something like crumpler being wide open on that 4th down play. usually you get that on the replay after the producers have had a chance to inform the play by play crew.

he also noticed later in the game that crumpler wasn't on the field for a few plays. i'd be willing to be that was his own observation as well.

Ya i heard that one.Later in the game, i believe i heard him say that the saints can clinch the NFC West if they win tomorrow.

totally agree about deion. was thinking the same thing during the game. i thought he was great when he was on the cbs show too. totally disagree about faulk though. seems unnatural and not so intelligent.

I was back and forth on Faulk a lot.... i think w/ a little practice on his broadcating articulation, he'll make an excellent comentator... but his cuts in the booth are as precise as his moves on the field yet... jury is still out here.

I liked how Deion kept pressing TO when the A--hole tried to brush off his spitting incident with Hall.

What I really liked was that Deion noticed what few other announcers do: Marion Barber is, without question, the better of the two Dallas RBs. The offense is simply more dynamic when MB III plays. He makes people miss and has the ability to make a positive play, even when the run blocking is suspect. Jones just runs into the back of a lineman, picks up two yards, and goes down on first contact. His one big play this season, the 75 yard TD run, came because he was untouched at the line of scrimmage. Deion rightly pointed out the Barber spins, jukes, and turns and seldom goes down on first contact.

I thought Deion did a good job. Considering he was brought in on somewhat short notice, he stepped up and actually brought something to the game.

My concern with Deion is that he may end up bringing his pregame schtick to the broadcast booth if he's in there more often.

Vermiel's voice was grating on me last night. Geez clear your thoght fella. He and Marshall were stroking each other a bit much for me. NFL Network needs to recruit better broadcasters. MMoose Johnson might be lured in, he's excellent.Gumball is awful.

Keep in mind that the producers play into this more than you think. Deion may have been told by his producers at CBS that he needed the schtick to be successful...which is why he was so bad at it. Or the producers at NFLN have told him to cut it out because people don't like it, and that's what got you fired from CBS. There's a reason guys like Mort step onto NFL Countdown and all of the sudden turn into someone as useless as the rest of them, it's the producers telling them what to do.
