I would be all over replacing Reyes with Wang. Wang has been god awful but he still has a winning track record. I would start out by only playing him away from Yankee stadium, but he shouldn't be available in a 20 team league. Uehera would also be another advisable option, although like a lot of imports he may wear down considerably post all star break. Martis is another decent option, doesn't have a high ceiling, but knows how to get it done.

If you don't want to hang tough with Ray, Bailey is a solid option, he has a lot better "stuff" than Ziegler. Submarine ballers can't be expected to consistently fool batters as a closer, he would be a lot better off in middle relief. I think by the end of the year Bailey will end up with better ratios and and equal if not greater amount of saves than Ray.

ETA:

also Dukes over Cabrera

It's not even June yet, so don't get overly concerned just yet, and don't go blowing things up unecessarily....but, it's never too soon to make a few tweaks here and there.

Dukes vs Cabrera - I'd be inclined to go Dukes if he wasn't injured. His upside is significantly higher, and Cabrera should be in the sell high mode. Melky has 3 years of 400+ ab's and yet to hit 10 home runs. He already has 5 this year. And while he's in a better lineup and better hitters park, he is also being squeezed for pt by Gardner (and Nady may be back in a month or so).

Dropping Ray may be a tough thing to do, but you may want to look long and hard at that. He is coming back off injury, and Sherril isn't doing that poorly of a job in closing now. Ray's been downright erratic so far, and it may be midseason till he's back to form and even then he may not be closing full time.

I'd take a flyer on Aardsma. Aardsma k rates and ratios are really decent and he is closing now. While Morrow may win back the closers job, nothing is certain, and worst case, you are getting a good setup man who should continue to help in other cats. I'm not sold on Soriano overtaking Gonzalez anytime soon, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

I've never been a big Anthony Reyes fan, and at this point see no reason to keep him around. Generally I like to stock up on NL pitchers when I can. The guys you listed aren't very exciting, but...

Duke isn't awful. He has a sub 3 era and very good WHIP. He gets a fair amount of K's, and while pitching for the Pirates, his 5 wins are probably about 1/2 of what you will get for the remainder of the year, he is a pretty good situational starter, imo.

I have Bonderman in one league and frankly, I'm not expecting any miracles. He's still young and can pitch effectively when healthy, but that's the problem. He only pitched 70 something innings last year, and well, nothing this year. I'd expect a slightly higher ERA/WHIp than in the past as he comes into form, but he still has decent strikeout potential if he can get the velocity back.

The others you mentioned, I'd probably avoid.

g'luck

You guys are very insightful...

I am really stuck between Reyes and Ray because I can only dump one now and one after June 15th (unless one of them gets hurt or sent to the minors or released then I can replace them for free). While Reyes is killing me in ratios, he at least has a chance for a few wins. Ray is just stinking out loud and helping nowhere while actively hurting me everywhere.

I am pushing hard for Wang over Ray and then just rolling with one closer. In a 20 teamer, Papelbon will put me in the middle of the pack by himself. That extra starter would then give me a better shot at wins and Ks...although it could potentially hurt my ratios.

Then there is the Bonderman question. Talent wise I like him better than Wang, but he is brittle and if i take a chance on him I could lose the shot at Wang. Romero is a nice prospect but Toronto front office is screwed up and will do anything to pinch pennies.

Then I go back to why not Aardsma or Bailey. Both play for below average teams, but both will help in specific categories.

As for Dukes/Cabrera. My OF/UT consists of Ludwick/Dunn/Dukes/Spilborghs with Swisher at UT (he qualifies there due to 1B eligibility). Due to Dukes injury and attitude history, I am inclined to take Cabrera over him and then if Cabrera doesn't pan out I can always use my second stiff clause after June 15th to replace him. The pount being, I don't want 15 days of nothing from Dukes since i am already taking a hit with Ludwick and Jose Reyes being banged up.

So...I agree Dukes has more upside, but for a 4 week rental I can take a chance on Cabrera.
