Delta Airlines computer outage - question. (1 Viewer)

As many of you probably know, Delta had a computer outage last night in the wee hours into today which grounded their entire fleet of departures worldwide causing massive delays everywhere. They are apparently now resuming flights but definitely some cancellations throughout the system as well.

My question is this (selfishly asking): I fly tomorrow morning on Delta at 8:10am through Atlanta. Assuming the computer system is back up 100% today, is there any reason to think my flight tomorrow will be backed up as a result of today's system wide delays?

No one here can answer that with any certainty. The only recourse you have is to wait it out until the time gets closer and see what the airline has to say.

When Southwest had a similar problem last month, there were delays that trickled into the couple days after.

Ya, I know. I just wasn't sure how that worked. I know if it's an individual flight that's delayed, it's tough luck for that flight, but when it's the whole system? Wasn't sure. Definitely going to be keeping tabs before I head to the airport tomorrow.

Those poor Delta stockholders probably took a terrible hit and all you are worried about is your flight being delayed?

Your seat and flight should be ok - but these backups cause havoc on connecting flights and there will be a lot of overbooked flights in the following days. Don't be late - check in early - and if they can do it to your satisfaction you could get a buyout offer at the gate that could get you a free trip. Be careful to make sure they have you rebooked properly if you take the deal

As opposed to whom?  Of the major carriers I'd put them near the top.  Probably a bit under SW, but way better than United or AA.
I've had no bad experiences with Delta.

Any luck TJ? I see 250 flights have been canceled.

the last time i flew the airline cut my left leg off with a radial saw but i do not hold it against them things just happen take that to the bank bromigos

id say SW sucks you have a mad dash to jump on the plane and run to a seat FCFS. f that. I like my assigned seats so I can fight someone that tries to steal it

I assume you are stuck on the tarmac somewhere in hellta

nearly 400 Delta flights had been scrubbed and more than 700 delayed, according to tracking service FlightStats Inc.
