Demi Lovato....heroin overdose?!?!?! (1 Viewer)

For those that don't know who Demi Lovato is:

If you didn't have kids that watched a lot of Disney Channel circa 2008-2010 ... you wouldn't have run across her. Lovato was very big within a niche. 2008's Camp Rock was set up to be another High School Musical-type star-making enterprise. Camp Rock never quite reached those heights, but it did propel Lovato and the Jonas Brothers to bigger things.

Lovato was also a recurring character on Glee for a season or two.

Tough road to come back from. I found this interesting that despite her dad’s addictions and abusive behavior, she searched out that high anyway.

"I loved it," she said of her first encounter with drugs was at the age of 17 during her Disney Channel days.

In Demi Lovato's documentary, Simply Complicated, which she released on YouTube last October, she revealed what sparked her long battle.

"I felt out of control the first time I did it. My dad was an addict and an alcoholic," she said.

Demi Lovato revealed she almost died from drugs and would smuggle cocaine onto planes just months before overdose

Adding: "Guess I always searched for what he found in drugs and alcohol because it fulfilled him and he chose that over a family."

Probably has a genetic predisposition toward it.

i know the name, but couldn't pick her out of a lineup to save my life.

if i had nearly unlimited money as a teenager and a young adult, and everyone was blowing smoke up my ###, i think it would be a miracle, if i had survived.

This girl was like Teflon.  She made mistakes that most people would destroy their lives over, yet it always was spun into her overcoming struggles.  Sorry folks, but this isn't, and never should have been the role model for your kids.  She has a great voice, but so do many non-drug abusers.  At some point, Disney, and all of the people putting her on, should have considered the impact of propping up a recovering drug addict.  They should have just given the Frozen song to Timberlake.

If someone who makes a living playing other people is your role model - regardless of their drug/drink situation - you should change your role model.

Regardless, her addiction is sad and we should encourage/help all those addicted to get treatment.

Tough situation. I hope, for her sake's, she gets treatment.

I know her from Camp Rock. My kids fall into that demographic at the time.

I also think she is the girl who sings the Sorry not Sorry song which the women at work seem to love to belt out. Its like the new I will survive song for women.

Regardless of any of that I hope she gets better. No one deserves any of that addiction stuff, its horrible.

Had a friend in college.  He was on the streets of Chicago at 12.  A junkie at 13. Brilliant mind for math and chemistry.  He shot up every day during college.  Graduated with honors.  Very successful career, he shot up every day.  At stages of his career he needed security clearances, he got them, he shot up every day.  He passed away last year, he was an everyday junkie for 45 years.  He left a wife, two daughters, and 5 grandkids.  I miss him.  Funny guy, kind, brilliant, forgiving, productive, a junkie.  Everyday of our acquaintance I figured it would be his last because he was a junkie.  I was shocked how long he lasted.  He beat the odds by a tremendous amount.  He died with a needle in his arm.

No drug tests during his career?

No drug tests during his career?
No need to test him since he was upfront about his use.  I was surprised that he was able to get security clearances under the circumstances since he was engaged in illegal activity daily, but his work was worth the trouble, apparently.

I don't think this has been mentioned by any of the news outlets covering this story--but there was speculation that Lovato was dating the rapper G-Eazy who recently broke up with Halsey.  They both claim that they are just friends--but   G-Eazy admittedly parties hard and is a druggie.  He recently got arrested and charged with cocaine possession in Sweden where he pled guilty.   Also--when he and Halsey were together--there are pics of them doing cocaine on a yacht (G-Eazy pretty much admitted that the both of them were doing drugs  on that yacht).   There are pics of G-Eazy and Lovato leaving a night club (lovato is staggering) as they leave  just 3 days before she overdosed.   I know I'm connecting some dots so view this as just my opinion/speculation.  For me the point is--if you are an addict or a recovering addict--be very careful about who you hang out with.   One wrong move and all that work that you have done to stay sober can just get flushed down the toilet.  I really hope that she conquers her demons and addiction issues.
