Democrats need to wake the hell up (1 Viewer)

I am 1000% serious
The focus on Trump by the Democrats is that he may have committed treason against the United States. Are you saying that should just be overlooked, ignored?

There is also the odd fact that he is the overwhelming favorite to be the next Republican nominee for President.

The guy just tried to overthrow an election, is still the leader of the party, and is actively working to rig states so that any losses in 2022 can be overturned. Ignoring him would be asinine and negligent. He needs to go to prison for the rest of his life.
In response to the OP question, probably do less of this.

And actively working to undermine future elections.

In terms of the political contest, I couldn’t disagree with @supermike80 more. There are many factors that favor Republicans in the next few elections, but ONE huge factor that favors Democrats is the presence of Trump. Anything Trump related, even any mention of his name, helps Democrats everywhere. In terms of elections he’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Even so, I wish he’d just go away.

Ok i said this before.  Then focus on beating him with what you got. The Republicans were salivating at the idea of kamala or sanders or warren getting the nod cause they knew the Republicans would wipe the floor with that. The dems knew it too and at the last minute got wise and woke Biden up.  It was a smart move. Find someone that can beat him.  You guys seriously stink at this

Trump was being used incessantly by Dems in Virginia...

How'd that work out?

Unfortunately I think there is some truth to this. It’s not the #1 issue (that will ever be the economy) but it is significant. It’s unfortunate because usually when these issues come up I am on the side of PC. But that doesn’t change the fact that many people aren’t and they will blame Democrats.
But the PC culture is not something that can be turned off and on at the whim of the Democrats; it’s the result of a rebellion against decades of institutionalized mistreatment. It’s here to stay.
I guess we will see how the economy is still doing in a couple years, but I really think you are underestimating how much the annoyance with this stuff is bubbling under the surface for people.   CRT, CC, wokeness is front and center for a lot of people.    Not that it's top of mind for my voting, but it's starting wear on me and I am a social media hermit.   All I get it from is podcasts and shows, and in the last year I have unsubscribed to pods I like because it was grating on me - can't imagine being bombarded with it on SM.

Wokeness/PC culture is the #1 issue because it infects every aspect of our culture…Virginia was lost due to it and it appears it is helping the GOP make big inroads into the Latino vote…and it is only going to get worse because it is a runaway train on the left.
I think many (most?) people have had their fill of PC stuff, but I don’t believe it’s a driving issue, except for the extreme right. Covid and the economy (in no particular order) are where it’s at.

I don’t doubt your feelings or that of many people. But as I wrote, it’s not something you can turn off. However voters feel about it, political correctness is not only here to stay but will only increase in coming years.

If you find yourself opposed to PC behavior on any given issue, you’re almost surely on the wrong historical side of that issue.

I think you are trivializing it a tad by referring to it as just PC, and I think it will hurt the dems bigly.

Like I said, I am usually on the side of most of it in theory, but even I feel like I am being talked down to, especially if I am not using all the terms 100% correctly.

By way of contrast, this is exactly right.  These are normal concerns held by normies, and I don't think Biden has been substantively bad on either issue (inflation is due to Trump-era policies at least as much as any Biden-era policies) but his messaging has been atrocious, again to the point of political malpractice.  The good news is that that's fixable, at least in theory.
:goodposting:

As much as the current minority team wants to convince themselves otherwise our current environment is a colorless problem. Voting for team red isn't going to fix it either. At least not the way it's currently constructed. This is what our populace wants though.

As someone with whom you disagree on many things, I can say I 100% concur with this viewpoint.  Every word.

I don't engage in any of it, am generally emotionless (arguably to a fault), and the amount that still gets through to me causes me to close the window with great frequency. Not because I don't want to read it and that's my knee jerk, but more because I laugh at absurdity and I've gotten bored of laughing at that content. PCU is a great movie in small doses, but my immediate thought when considering an encounter with the cause heads every week is hurling myself off a bridge.

Unfortunately for you Biden has performed so poorly I bet there is a good chance he sticks around and if he runs he will win. The Dem candidates are brutal and if Biden’s next three years are anything like this first one Americans won’t hesitate to sign up for 4 more years of Trump over the Biden debacle. Mean tweets are easier to ignore than Biden paying no attention to any issue.

Stop focusing on Trump.  The Trump obsession for the dems is baffling to me.  Hes beatable with a strong candidate.  Biden did it.  I think few thought he would be this bad as a President but oh well.  Focus on finding the next candidate that can. God even in this thread about the Democrats there's way too much about Trump Trump Trump.   And stop trying to win the woke vote.  That won't get you there.  The woke party is too fractured.
Agree completely.

Yo dude, sorry to break the bad news, but you are asking a dead body to wake up. Bury it, and wait for new sprouts to emerge.

6. Move faster on the Jan 6 investigation.  Don't let Republicans run out the clock.  Make EVERYTHING public.
I don't think people care about Jan 6.  It was a pretty dead horse they were beating already and it's a polarizing issue.  I think people are worried about kitchen table stuff, not endless handwringing about maga goofballs entering a building.

We usually disagree on everything in the PSF, but I couldn’t agree with you more on this topic

I think the 'obsession' is that many believe he is the candidate for 2024.  I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but I would tweak it in saying that the focus needs to be a strong candidate, and the VP will not get it done.   I think they need to keep him in the back of their minds b/c while Biden beat him, I think a lot of that (at least for me) was his handling of covid.   I believe if it wasn't for that he would have one easily, and IMO that it was scares the dems b/c it's not like Joe is killing it.   Long story short, the more they distance themselves from this administration and just focus on getting a stronger candidate (ie  no Joe, Harris, Pete, etc...) .   It will be harder to win in 2024, and I know they won't get my help this time.

I totally get that the dems are terrified of Trump.   It's discussed every day here.  My far left liberal socialist inlaws are also terrified of Trump.  But fear isn't a strategy.  There can be some value in continuing to discuss his failings because there are a lot of independents out there, but it seems so over the top to me that I feel people are starting to tune out.  Especially when their buying power is shrinking at alarming rates, and covid is spreading at an ever faster rate.   Some Trump hate is fine, but this obsession starts to look childish

Virginia was lost due to a critical gaff made by McAuliffe at the worst possible time and the fact that a comically high percentage of VA citizens thought he was the incumbent responsible for x, y, and z.

Then please explain the voting results in New Jersey.  The most powerful Democratic State Senator lost to a Republican truck driver who spent less than $200 on his campaign.  Democrats across the board performed worse in 2021 than they did in 2020.

Do you talk to them about it much?  What are they afraid of - just that he will be there in 2024 and win, or do they think the country will be fundamentally different if he does?     That's the part that I am trying to understand.  I really don't like the man, but that is more on a personal/leadership level - it was the covid stuff that got me to vote a different way, unfortunately.

I generally don't.   I try very hard to stay away from political discussions with family members.  They know I am a republican (although one of the good ones they always tell me) so they know most of what they are for I am in many cases against.

This is a great strategy for the Democrats to lock down the Twitter vote.

Unfortunately, Twitter is like 5% of the electorate.  This agenda is political malpractice for the other 95% of the electorate.

Tangent thought. I see this a lot in other areas too.

Much of the fantasy football industry is focused on Twitter. People in the industry look at each other based on their presence on Twitter.

And it's a tiny part of the actual audience.

AND I don't think it's very representative of the audience.

I am terrified of another Trump term. I admit it. I think he is an existential threat to this country.
During Trump’s first term he had guard rails: people around him who prevented him from acting on his worst instincts. If Trump is re-elected these will all be gone, and there will be nothing but yes men. I believe that, among other things, we will pull out of NATO and end our international commitments that we’ve had under every President since 1945. I believe that, domestically, there will be more violence and unrest than at any time since 1968. We may survive another Trump term (perhaps) but it won’t be a good time.

This may be true in terms of the public. But the public didn’t care about the Watergate break in either. It doesn’t matter; we can’t let it go.

Build back better is an existential threat.   China and bidens subservient  position to them is an existential threat.  Killing our ability to be energy  self sufficient is an existential threat.    Biden being surrounded by assistants who are worse than yes men they are radical leftists, also an existential threat.

America survived Reagan, Clinton, both Bushes, Obama, trump and we will survive biden.    This country can survive another trump.   Perhaps it's what's needed.

I'd rather a DeSantis or Tedd Cruz.   But I'll take what I can get.    We need do stop the left.     And when I say left I don't mean liberals.

I believe every sentence of your first paragraph is not only false but pretty much the opposite of the truth.

Biden being surrounded by assistants who are worse than yes men they are radical leftists,
Let’s just start with this assertion, which I regard as bizarre nonsense:

1. Please name the people close to Biden whom you believe are radical leftists.

2. Please explain what makes them radical leftists in your mind.

Republicans do fear better. Republicans do gerrymandering better.

Democrats couldn’t organize a shag in a brothel.
It's harder for Democrats to gerrymander because their voting base tends to be in tight, compact areas.  Look at Wisconsin, a state Biden won.  They are pretty much forced to pass a 6/2 Republican favored congressional map because the only two sources of Democratic vote are in Milwaukee and Dane County.  There's not a whole lot they can do because they may win these areas 4:1 and lose 55/45 out state in those other districts.  It might be enough to carry a statewide election, but they are likely to lose most times in any of the districts other than those two.

ETA: Also the geography of where Milwaukee sits keeps it unlikely they could somehow split the city and create another blue leaning district.  You can't really go south or east, so there's really no way to split Milwaukee and keep population numbers per district equal.

I agree with some others in here that a number of people are turned off by political correctness and wokeness.  Also, I'll add that some of the extreme on the left like to paint everything on the right as racist or white supremacy.  Similar to some on the right painting the left as socialists or communists.

I agree with this and will take it further...there is now a real ability for people to hate very quickly...for some people you can agree with them on 9 things but if you disagree with them on the 10th one, they can flip the hate switch very quickly (cancel culture excels at this)...there has always been forms of hate in this country (racism being the biggest) but those seemed to be more deep-seated/life-long/taught by your family in many cases so while despicable you usually knew the roots of it ...today there is a new form of hate and I'm not sure if it is due to a generation always getting trophies/not ever being told no/having their parents think they walk on water but the ability to go from 0-100 on the hate-meter is beyond unhealthy.

2. Forget about a voting rights bill. That would take breaking the filibuster and it’s NEVER going to happen. So stop talking about it, you guys sound like whiny losers.

They’re trying to get this done anyhow. It’s not going to happen but they’re going to have a vote anyhow. Stupid stupid stupid. It’s only going to piss progressives off because it will fail, and the rest of the nation will just shake their heads and say “they can’t get anything done.”
Worst messaging ever.
