***Denver at San Diego MNF*** (1 Viewer)

Interesting that they go back to Moreno when they are trying to seal the game. Bodes well for Moreno owners. Buck will still take some but Moreno will get his.

I kick the FG and go up by 7. Worst case is then overtime...

If it were me, I'd go for it on 4th and inches and have Moreno go over the top of the pile again. He was always good at that in college, and it seems to me that that and the QB sneak are the two hardest plays in the entire game to stop.

The team I was most wrong about this year, by a country mile, was the Denver Broncos. Sorry Bronco fans, I thought your team was going to be terrible this year. You guys have got a very very good team that will not only make the playoffs but may go deep. You have to be excited about that. This would be a terrific win.

Seems like they've been alternating - sometimes 2 series on and 2 off, but I haven't been paying incredibly close attention. Anyone know the split between series or plays?

Never been happier to lose $120. I just lost the tiebreaker for the weekly pickem contest. I needed 55 points or less. OK, I only lost $3, but I had a chance at $120.

Go Broncos!

On the first replay I thought that was down on the 1 inch line, but the later replays made it look like the ball was across the goal line BEFORE Stokley hit the ground, and when Stokley went down he brought it out of the end zone (which didn't matter, because it was already a TD).

That's an absolutely horrible call. Unbelievable. How do you say Stokley was in the end zone? Ridiculous. What a terrible, terrible call.

No, it shouldn't have been a catch until his second foot came down, at which time the ball was not across the goal line.

:goodposting: Thanks man, I think they have exceeded even the most optimistic Broncos fans.

Remember, all that has to happen is that any point of the ball has to be over any part of the goal line at any point during the play for it to be a TD. Stokley's momentum was carrying him back upfield, but when he first caught the ball it was barely over the goal line, and his natural momentum brought it back out of the end zone again.

I thought the original, live shot provided a much better look to show that the ball didn't break the plane.

Which game was it last year when a similar situation took place? I can't remember specifics but it was one of the most discussed replays of the season. Feels like Denver was involved in that as well.

edit: dansav corrected me.

Actually it looks like that's exactly what happened. When he caught the ball his feet were in the end zone. The nose of the ball just has to cross the white of the end zone at that point. Does not matter that Stokley was coming back to the QB and came out of the end zone.

It isn't a catch until both feet hit the ground. The ball being across the goal line before that is irrelevant.

SIX AN OHHHHHH!
Too bad they haven't played anybody yet.
There's no such thing as playing nobody in the NFL. Maybe in college that phrase means something. In the NFL, every win is an accomplishment. 6-0 is awesome for the Broncos.
<----------- Hey Tim - look to the left
Ahh. Sorry. I'm trying to watch this game, and the Dodgers, and have an internet conversation all at once.

My understanding of the rule was that he needed to get both feet down to make the play a catch, but once the play was ruled a catch it didn't matter at what point it crossed the goal line. I don't know for sure, though- maybe someone with an NFL rulebook can chime in?The official said the call was confirmed, which means he clearly saw something that unequivocally said the play was a TD (i.e. not just that he didn't see enough to overturn). I imagine the official knows the rulebook better than either of us, so I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I am curious as well on the exact wording of the rule in question.

A game in my league hinged on that kick. I'm sure that the guy with Kaeding is now banging his head against a wall...

At this point, Denver is a near lock to become the first team in the entire NFL to beat its o/u on total wins. The Vegas line was 6.5, and Denver's now 6-0. Wow.

Does Denver rest it's players in week 16? Orton, Marshall, Moreno, Royal owners might want to start thinking of different options for that week.
