Denver back-up? (1 Viewer)

What do the trends tell us? Is Andre Hall the next guy to grab? I just feel the unknown coming. If Shanahan can't mess with his starter this year, i have a feeling he will mix up the back ups like crazy.

Any opinions on this?

Bell and Sapp are 2-3 in some order. Neither Hall nor Young will pass them right now, but with Shanahan, it is always important to keep up with all Denver RB news and be a forward thinker, especially in dynasty leagues.

Anyone know if Hall still is eligible for the practice squad?

not so fast:

-- Selvin Young Moves Ahead of Mike Bell & Cecil Sapp -- Fri Aug 31, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com * The Denver Post reports Broncos undrafted rookie RB Selvin Young is now the team's No. 2 running back behind starting RB Travis Henry. Young, who gained 91 yards last week in the Broncos' third preseason game, started in the team's fourth and final preseason game against the Cardinals. He finished off his second consecutive impressive preseason performance with a nifty 12-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, RB Mike Bell (left hip) not only has been demoted from tailback to fullback, he's on the team's roster bubble. RB/FB Cecil Sapp worked as a fullback against the Cardinals as well. There's a chance Bell's switch to fullback is only temporary. And it may be a positive development for Bell in terms of making the roster as the fourth or fifth back, behind Henry, FB Kyle Johnson, Young and possibly RB/FB Cecil Sapp. RB Andre Hall, who rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns, would also be a tough cut, although he has practice squad eligibility. FB Paul Smith has been an exemplary special teams player. That means the Broncos have seven backs they'd like to keep.

It is always interesting with the RB's in Denver. At least this year all the drama is for the backup slot instead of the starter slot. Although give Selvin a few more carries and who knows. :lmao:

For fantasy purposes, the person to handcuff to Travis Henry is somebody else on another team. You can never "feel safe" with whoever you get behind Henry in denver, so don't waste the roster spot. Look elsewhere to cover the risk at that position. My.02.

I stand corrected. Thanks for posting this. :football:

Now my next question is how reliable is the Denver post beat writer?
I don't know who wrote that but if it is Bill Williamson he is a turd.Apparently Mike Klis wrote it. Eh...I wouldn't believe it yet, I'd wait till after they announce their cuts/PS signings.

Undrafted rookie Selvin Young has reportedly moved past Mike Bell and Cecil Sapp on the Broncos' depth chart.

Young, a former committee member at the University of Texas, had an excellent preseason and apparently now is the primary backup behind Travis Henry. If Henry were to get hurt, he'd likely split carries with Bell and Sapp, but Young is still worth monitoring in all leagues and grabbing in deep formats.

www.rotoworld.com for more info....

Mike Bell has been demoted on the Broncos' depth chart to third string at best and could be in danger of losing his roster spot.

Bell got hurt towards the end of camp and lined up at fullback during the Broncos' preseason finale. His short-yardage prowess should give him the edge over Cecil Sapp and Andre Hall for the third tailback slot behind Travis Henry and Selvin Young, but he's only worth holding onto in deeper leagues.

Apparently the winner of the backup sweepstakes goes to Selvin Young.

I believe I read that Bell has been moved to FB. Can anyone confirm this?Mike Bell-RB-Broncos Aug. 31 - 1:53 pm et

yeah, he played some FB yesterday.i'm hoping that this versatility keeps him on the roster.

in the end, i don't think anybody really knows what the hell is going on, or what anybody's role really is.

if henry goes down, most likely it'll be some type of RBBC.

Granted he's been playing against back-ups, but Selvin has looked really good! Making good reads and nice, fast cuts; explosive downhill running. Looked better than he did at Texas! Hook Em!!

Apparently Shanny told radio host Dave Logan that Young should look into buying a house in Denver. Looks like he is staying.

August 31, 2007, 14:32Broncos :: RB#2 RB Job Goes To Rookie Young Over BellMike Klis, Denver Post - [Full Article]The Denver Broncos have settled on a backup to RB Travis Henry and his name is not Mike Bell, but rookie Selvin Young has apparently pulled a Mike Bell. Young has gone from undrafted free agency to No. 2 on the tailback depth chart this week. "I came out to try to play football the way I did last week," Young said. "I got some good advice from a couple guys who had been in the league awhile. I heard that anybody can have one good day. But can you put it together and do the job each and every week?"

I must admit S. Young did look good in limited action.

That being said, Shannahan confirms he is a nut once again.

Ok, so let me get this straight. Bell started as the #2 man, then it was Sapp, then it was Bell and now it's Young all in a matter of 3 weeks. I'm sure this will stick for a while....

:lmao: but it certainly does keep us thinking we have the right back up or starter every third week or so.
