Seems likely that the Lions will address the LB (and secondary) positions during the offseason, so I think it's likely that there'll be at least one new OLB. They've had reasonably nice things to say about Carpenter, but there's no upside there.
I can't understand why DET stubbornly refused to play Peterson at WLB ever and would now rather let him go than try him there.Have his skills deteriorated that much? Also, would not be surprised to see them move on from Levy at MLB since he can't seem to stay on the field.
I think Levy is a lock to be one of the three starting LBs and likely in the middle. The Lions are happy with his play. As for Peterson, he did not play well this year and from what I have read, there were other issues with him not related to his play in games. I think he is better suited to be a 3-4 OLB. Right now, I would think their 13th overall pick could very well be a LB. I don't think any of the current LBs will be a starting LB next year outside of Levy.
Ashlee Palmer and Bobby Carpenter showed the Lions have some depth at LB, but Detroit needs 2 starters. IMO, Rocky McIntosh at weak side and Bruce Carter at strong side would be best case scenario. I don't see Palmer starting going into the year.
