***Detroit Tigers thread: 1st pick yet again, this is not fun*** (1 Viewer)

Crazy game.  Just tuned in when it was 5-2 and thought F-it.  Nice comeback, but still looks like a team which will continued to be owned by Cleveland.   Sanchez being Sanchez.  Right when it looks like he might be effective, he is back to being the worst pitcher in the league.

Well for as much crap as the bullpen gets it stepped up last night and kept the team in the game until the bats came alive.  Rondon has been dynamite lately.

The fifth spot in the rotation is such a mess right now.  Let's see how Pelfrey does today....

Boyds girl looked good.  The one on the far left looked good too.  Hopefully they show them again
Probably met them at 5th Avenue in Royal Oak.  My daughter was there last week and it was Greene, Nick, Fulmer, Collins, Boyd. JD, Romine,Norris all playing pool. Pretty unusual these days for more than 2-3 to go out together.

You would think about $50 million per year spent on three pitchers might produce a quality start on occasion.
I truly believe no other team would have signed  Pelfrey to anything more than a 1 year deal at the vet minimum if that...he may have been out of baseball.  Looking at his career numbers he won the lotto with the Tigers.

Meanwhile Max and Porcello are making room on their shelf for a Cy Young, two guys they could have kept for the yearly money they dropped on those guys.

All you girls do is ####### #####.

They couldn't have kept Max, he left.  Give me the math on how they could have kept Max and Porcello, I want to see this.  :lmao:

When you look at what they are paying Zimmerman ($22 million), Sanchez ($16 million), and Pelfrey ($8 million), it is not that far off what Max ($30 million) and Rick ($20 million) are making.  The Tigers have thrown a lot of money chasing pitchers that got away.   It probably was not affordable, but they went ahead and spent nearly the same money anyways, at least in the short term.

Maybin is not good in the field at all.  Meanwhile Curtis Granderson has 26 home runs for the Mets, wish we would have held onto him when we could have.

Looks like Andrew Miller is gonna pitch the 8th, probably the best reliever in baseball.  Wish we wouldn't have traded him for Miguel Cabrera, we could really use an elite reliever right now.

In all seriousness, Indians play extremely smart baseball and the Tigers don't.  This game has been decided by a bunch of fundamental stuff that the Tigers just don't do well, and Cleveland turns every mistake into one or two runs.  The two teams don't even seem like they play in the same league.

Detroit in all games other than against Cleveland: 77-57 The Indians in all games other than DET: 73-61. Head-to-head: Cleveland 12-1.

Will someone please bean Napoli.

The guy would be a first ballot HOF if he played against the Tigers every game.

13-1.    How can you be that dominated.
Unbelievable.

Then again, did you see that stat comparing Miggy and Hank Aaron at age 33 1/2?  They stand about even in ABs and are in essentially a tie with their stats.  Aaron had about 30 more hits and 20 more HRS along with 100+ more runs.  Miggy has more RBIs and leads in BA (.320 to .317).  Wow.
