***Detroit Tigers thread: 1st pick yet again, this is not fun*** (1 Viewer)

Bruce Rondon has not allowed a run in his last 4 games...4 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K.
Kind of why I am hopeful we only need to add one arm in the bullpen. Only one of Soria's HR were meaningful, the 13th inning GS to the Reds . Soria's biggest problem of late is that it has been a while since the Tigers have been in position to give him a save opportunity. A lot of slop duty.
So the blown saves vs the Astros and White Sox weren't meaningful? Why? The white sox blown save was after they had lost seven straight.
I was focusing on the last 4 games in a row in which he gave up HR. June has not been a good month for Soria.
We always have Joba to fall back on

Buck Farmer was scratched from his start tonight in Toledo and will be recalled tomorrow.

Justin Verlander is scheduled to start tomorrow.

VMart clears up a lot of the woes of this offense.

While I was kind of onboard with Iggy in the 9th spot, he has become the least productive .320 hitter in baseball. He needs to be move towards the top of the lineup.

Miggy out of lineup today, hope it didn't have to do with his slide last night. He kind of winced when he got up from that one.

I guess Brad figures with VMart back they can rest Miggy a game or two but I would rather they do it tomorrow if he's fully healthy.

Came here to post the same thing. A sweep would be huge and hate to see them resting anyone. And, I know Romine has been hot, but why not flop him and Holiday to have 4 relatively quick players in succession??

Could be because Brad is just being Brad

"Even Superman needs a day off,” manager Brad Ausmus said, per MLB.com. “It was just the timing. It’s a 12 o’clock game. There’s not many pitchers I look at the stat sheet and go, ‘Well, Miggy doesn’t hit him.’ I think David Price is the one he doesn’t hit, and he’s on his team. You never want Miggy out of the lineup, but you have to have a little bit of vision.”

Obviously, you lack Brad's vision.

Sure enough, JV scratched tomorrow with a stiff back. :kicksrock:
What a surprise...after all, he only threw 117 pitches in his 2nd game pitched all year. Seriously, that is one of the worst managerial decisions I've ever seen.
Jeff Jones said in the pre-game that JV's back started bothering him in the 3rd or 4th inning of his start on Friday. I really hope that this wasn't learned until after the game.

Based on JV's mentality I'm thinking he tried to pitch through it without telling anyone at the time.

Sounds like they knew Leroy because they said it was bothering him between innings. I can see letting him try to pitch through it, but having him go all the way to 117 was completely stupid. Looks like he might pitch Saturday.

They might as well DFA Gorzelanny, he's worthless.

I really thought when Verlander got to around the 80 pitch mark they would call in a day no matter what the score was winning or losing. 90 was pushing to but to hit 117 makes no sense at all. 117 was pushing it in his heyday..let alone coming back after missing months of action.

Go figure. Ausmus has JV overpitch against the Yankees in a game he could have been pulled from earlier - yet pulls Anibal from Game 2 against the Orioles once he had reached his arbitrary pitch count. He's just making things up as he goes along at this point.

Obvious need here, but just about anything would be better than what most of the bullpen has been giving them lately. Same goes for JV, its not like they got anything better right now in the 4 or 5 spots.

Tigers are out hitting the Sox 11 to 7 and committed no errors vs. the Sox one error but are still losing. Iggy has two hits and has not scored a run or gotten an RBI. His hits are consistently wasted in the 9th spot. This lineup is not producing the runs it should. Brad needs to do some adjusting, as Iggy's very good season hitting the ball has been fruitless except in a few cases.

As soon as he walked Melky I knew the White Sox would score. Walk, hit batter, infield single, triple on a 1-2 count to a hitter batting under .200. That's a Joba special there!

Today's Detroit Tigers-Chicago White Sox game has been postponed.

With rain in the Saturday afternoon forecast, the teams have decided to table the game to Monday, Sept. 21, in Detroit as part of a day-night doubleheader.

The Tigers have not announced their rotation plans in light of the postponement.

Note: The Tigers will play a make-up game with the Cincinnati Reds at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. This is to make up their June 18 game that was rained out.

Price MIA to come back out in the 7th. How in the hell does this happen? Had Verlander not noticed, they may not have had anyone out there. With the clock, what would the penalty have been?

They said something might be wrong with him on the radio broadcast.

Or Brad is just being Brad, hard to say.

Brad look completely clueless on the broadcast. Verlander sprinted over to him at the end of the inning to let him know Price was not in the dugout.
