***Detroit Tigers thread: 1st pick yet again, this is not fun*** (4 Viewers)

Sounds like Avila will be out 6-8 weeks or so with some floating knee cartilage that will require surgery.

Price is fortunately just sore after yesterday, hopefully he won't miss any time.

Yes, Price is my concern big picture. They have to start getting some of these guys back before anymore go down. Lucky that Lobstein has been so solid as the #6 starter, but can't really expect any team to go 7 SPs deep.

Two really ####ty at bats by Cespedes and JD there in the 9th. :X

Plus taking Miggy out for any reason is highly debatable. Davis needed to run right away, he didn't and now you're down the best hitter in the game.

Ausmus just tried to compound his error of removing Miggy by bunting Kinsler with runners on 1st and 2nd, luckily Holland bailed him out.

Bases loaded, no one out, Miggy's spot up in the order and Miggy on the bench next to Brad. 5-2-3 DP.

That's the worst managing I've seen since Alan Trammell. They could have safety squeezed Hernan to tie the game too IMO. Best case scenario letting Hernan swing there was him striking out, he should not be on this team. Daniel Fields has a .969 OPS at Toledo, bring him up.

Ausmus should have gotten all this dopey management style out of his system last year, I'm not confident in him at all anymore. He lost the game tonight.

"Hello, Ron Gardenhire? This is Dave Dombrowski...."

They should really try to get something for Hernan, there is no spot on this team where he is not blocked from starting or even being the #1 backup (Romine). We saw all this in last years final game, we don't need to keep seeing it again and again. Fields or an outside bat, they need that option on the bench.

I think he is actually worse than Trammell. Ausmus really needed a couple of seasons at the AA or AAA level.

And for the record I'm not a blame the coach/manager guy either. But what happened last night was troubling. It's only one game, but what happens if he does something that dumb in late September?

I still have a lot of hope that this team can put it back together. Run production seems to have dropped off big time. I am not going to crucify Ausmus yet. For the most part I like how he is using players despite a few mistakes.

Yeah but aren't you the guy who has advocated in the past for pulling Miggy for a pinch runner? This seems to automatically disqualify your opinion on Ausmus no?

Under the absolutely right conditions. And if I recall Miggy was thrown out at the plate in the divisional championship series late in the game which would have won the game. It is not an absolute clear cut call. I know you hate the call, but there is some rationalization to it.

Not if you don't run Davis there isn't.

And they didn't run Davis.

Run production has been the Tigers biggest issue over the last few weeks. In the last 14 games, they have only scored 1 or 2 runs in 10 of them. You don't win many games scoring 1 or 2 runs.

Victor out, sounds wrong writing, but I hope it's just that bug he's been dealing with. He's hit the ball well a couple of times lately, hoping it's a sign that he's getting past that knee problem.

Five LOB in the first two innings, they needed to send Iglesias there IMO. If you are in a run scoring funk, take some chances.

With more ABs McCann is looking better and better at the plate. Plus he can run. AA needs 3 hits to score from first.
