Deuce week 1 (1 Viewer)

Do you guys actually think Reggie B will come right in and be the man, with an experienced back like Deuce in front of him? I see Bush as more of a 3rd down, and line up wide/and in the slot type back at first, to get some experience. He's also returning kicks. Deuce will get AT LEAST 2/3 of the carries.

I agree with your take. People want to anoint Reggie, but if and maybe it is a big if, Deuce is healthy no way Bush takes most of the carries. I have Reggie on my team and I do not have Deuce

I dont think anyone is assuming Bush will get the majority of touches. But I think its safe to assume he gets the ball 15 times a game, including almost all the receptions. (He is quite obviously more valued in PPR leagues.)

He's a more talanted Brian Westbrook. And a bonifide home run threat every time he touches the ball.

And if Duece is done, or close to the end, then of course Bush's value goes through the roof.

What makes anyone think Deuce is done? He's 27 with about 3 1/2 years worth of NFL wear & tear on him. There's no indication that the injury has created a degenerative problem a la Terrell Davis.

I didn't start Deuce this week and am waiting to see the game and how all the touches go before I make a commitment to start him or not next week.

I would start Deuce this week.. in fact, I am, in every league I have him in (2). Better start him the first two weeks against weak teams.

Proven fact: No RB has EVER ran for a thousand yards coming off a season ending ACL injury during the prior year. This is McCallister's last year and he will get touches but Reggie is the future in NO. If Deuce can make it to the end of the year you might see him in short yardage but Reggie will be the guy by week 8 or 9.

Coming from a Bush owner nonetheless... shocking. No bias I'm sure.

Jamal Lewis tore his ACL during training camp in 2001 and rushed for 1300+ the next season.

Didn't Edge do the same thing after hurting his ACL?

Edge ran for 989 the year after tearing his ACL, but only started 14 games, so he would have broken 1,000 if he'd played all 16. His ypc was only 3.6, though, lowest of his career.

Terry Allen also ruptured his ACL in training camp in 1993 and came back to rush for 1000+ in '94. Neither injuries were in season I guess, but I think medical advances are really hastening the healing period here, or at least it seems so. Wouldn't surprise me if Deuce was 100% pretty early in the season.

989 is close enough for me... :)

80ish yards and a td, 10 receiving. People love Bush out of the backfield, and he'll get some, but Deuce has always been a good receiving target and will likely get at least one pass thrown his way.

I'll be starting Deuce on my Fantasy team as long as his real NFL coach does the same for his team...Bush will still have to prove his worth at the NFL level before a proven asset like Deuce loses his value.....

I don't think Deuce is done, BUT people are not buying tickets to see Deuce, the Saints didn't draft Bush to make Deuce better, the NFL is all about marketing and making $$$$. People want to see the Bush show and are paying for it. Unless Bush falls on his face he's no worst that a 50/50 split on carries.

Having a lot of trouble deciding who to dress in my dynasty league as I have Reggie and Deuce.

I am going with Reggie because of the hype, and that the times he DOES touch teh ball, he could end up getting 50 yds and a TD each time. ha. But something tells me Monday I'll be pissed and Deuce will have had 80 yds and 2 td's

I'll offer up a contrary scenario to the above. Do you believe that Bidwell actually didn't make money last year by drawing about 25,000 per game into the stands for the Cardinals games. Money is made irreguardless of fan attendence. At the start of the year the goal is to win the superbowl. That means winning games. That also means starting your best players. To surmise that Bush is equal to Deuce right now is where I totally disagree. Until Deuce proves incapable of producing, Bush will be seeing only about 1/3 of the touches. Sure, the Saints will utilize him, but not on a 50/50 split without reason.

1 - Irreguardless is not a word. You were looking for regardless.2 - I guess the Cardinals built a new stadium and paid through the nose to bring Edge in because they're not concerned with the attendance.I agree that teams want to win first and foremost, but I'm certain that the owners are concerned with making money too.

You've got a 1st year coach that wants to win in the worst way. Unless the NO owner pulls a Jerry Jones, Payton is going to use the lineup that will give him the best shot at winning. I think that means Deuce getting a majority of carries, soemwhere in between 60-80%. Bush will get some carries and contribute in the passing game and returning punts. Can anyone remember the last time a starting RB pulled double duty as a PR or KR? Greg Pruitt??? carries?

Look, I own Bush for the future just as NO does, but if Deuce is healthy he is a great back and WAY more powerful than Bush. Bush's skills are more in the Westbrook type and less in the Rudi Johnson type and again if Deuce is healthy the guy is a better pure RB than Bush is. Bush has incredible skills but give him a year or so to learn how to harness them. Now, if Deuce is not healthy than we have a different situation. BTW, the never had a 1000 yards could be for a ton of different reasons. I am positive Deuce would have 1000 yards this year if they didn't draft Reggie Bush.

Not to change the thread but amazingly Irregardless is a word and it means the same as regardless. This is one of my pet peaves as it drives me crazy. What is wrong with the world when the dictionary puts this word in. How can they mean the same thing? Please nobody use it!

I am starting Deuce tommorow as my RB2 is weak. I went LJ, Boldin and Harrison, then went RB later, so I have Jamal @ Tampa or Deuce (Also have Addai and Musa). Deuce has a decent matchup and he shold fair better than Jamal at Tampa and for that matter should score more than a lot of RBs this week. Until we see that team in action......no telling what is going to happen.
