Did Christina Aguilera mess up the National Anthem? (1 Viewer)

She was just terrible! Just sing the song right and there will be less chance off missing words!

She sounded as if someone was pulling out her toenails as she sang!

Lots of big FAILS today, like MoP's closed thread. Get too big for your britches, look like a fool. Actually it isn't even about looking like a fool, it's about being one. At least MoP didn't do it on national TV.

Sing the song as written. Don't add 50 notes that aren't in the original. Deviate once or twice for emphasis, sort of like not cursing unless you REALLY want to make a point once in a while, respect the song. It's about the anthem, not about the singer.

This had no chance of going well. That trailer trash has no respect for the song and what it represents. I just hate it when they roll out someone to sing who's more interested in their time under the spotlight than the song they're singing. Whenever Stina sings it's all about her.......they should have known that going in and chosen someone else. Shameful.

They need to start screening these hacks. 'ok, let's see what ya got, honey'. 'Ok, you suck, go make some pron.'

Our nanny went to HS with Aguilera. We were talking about her last week and she told us that she's always been pretty strange. Sometimes you think that it's fame and success that makes people get a little goofy, but according to her the goofy was always there.

She's the queen of OVER-singing. It was pretty bad. They should just re-air Whitney Houston's 1991 version every year..

i dont watch national anthems because they all suck so i was watching a rerun of teen mom2 on mtv but if I was watching it i'm sure i would have thought it was 10x better than next years

It was a painful rendition to watch. The over/under for her to complete the song was 1.57. She did it in like 1:55.

Scary, as I watched a buddy go down in flames hoping for Christina to drag the last note. Vegas knows things.

Was it offically under? We timed it and it came in under, but then she talked at the end, and a couple radio shows were talking about how she did that because she might have had the over bet and needed to extend the time a bit, so she spoke into the mic, thus the last note wasn't until the end of the statement.

She held the word "Brave" for more than six seconds, which was the o/u on Bodog. On a related note, anyone know if there is a list of all the prop bet results somewhere?

Should be a null bet. She skipped a few words.

I'm not even American and I thought she absolutely ruined the anthem. There should be a rule that there can be no freelancing by the artist during the anthem.

that's hot:wub:

OMG. Had flipped the channel, like I wished I had during the Black Eyed Peas performance, so missed it last night.

More and more, she is sounding (and looking) like Cyndi Lauper with turrets.

No there shouldn't. They should sing it how they choose. If they do it terribly like yesterday we should criticize the hell out of them, and if they sing it well we should applaud them.Land of the free.

She just messed up one line.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts What so proudly we watched were so gallantly streaming? at the twilight's last gleaming

And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Others have screw up the anthem too, just not at the Super Bowl.

- Really Bad!Jesse McCartney

This is how you sing it. Marvin Gaye style. Sing it the right way, unless you are this guy.

:goodposting: What is she, a WWII bomber?

That verse probably wasn't important anyway.

Maybe if she wasn't trying to turn the song into her own personal rendition she could have gotten the words right. Just sing the damn song, people. You dont have to make it into a R&B billboard top 20 song.

Why do these "artists" try so hard to "make it their own"? Just a guarantee to make fools of themselves.

It has a score, a melody, and a message. Just do it with heart-felt emotion and don't make a production out of it.

I believe Christina looks at the American Flag and sees only dollar signs.

Let's hang the #####!

Let's also line up all the people I've seen on Funniest Home Videos who messed the song up and laughed about it and have a firing squad got to town.

C.A. gets paid a boatload of money to do what? Sing. People on FHV do not. All she had to do was sing and get the words right to our NATIONAL ANTHEM. You cannot campare the people on youtube videos to a major recording star screwing up our anthem.
