Did Christina Aguilera mess up the National Anthem? (1 Viewer)

:yawn:Let's hang the #####!Let's also line up all the people I've seen on Funniest Home Videos who messed the song up and laughed about it and have a firing squad got to town.
C.A. gets paid a boatload of money to do what? Sing. People on FHV do not. All she had to do was sing and get the words right to our NATIONAL ANTHEM. You cannot campare the people on youtube videos to a major recording star screwing up our anthem.
:lmao:You cant be serious? She's human right? Since when did human beings stop being imperfect?Just something else for tight ### Americans to get bent out of shape over.

When you are celebrity you give up, to some extent, the right to privacy (the law actually provides for this in certain circumatances) and to be free from public scrutiny. I get that she's human; she's a professional singer. All I expect is that when she does sing our National Anthem she should do it correctly. She made a big mistake and now she must face the criticism that attaches to that. That is the price of being a celebrity. Too bad. She wanted fame, now she has to deal with it imperfections and all.

I guess this is what sets me apart from typical Americans. Fame and wealth doesn't impress me. It's ridiculous that most Americans try to pattern their lives around those people who attain these social statuses. I don't care who's dating who, where they go on vacation, and what they wore to some certain award show. The fact that many of you are getting bent out of shape over this just because it was a celebrity is ######ed. It's no different than anyone else doing it.

Why do these "artists" try so hard to "make it their own"? Just a guarantee to make fools of themselves. It has a score, a melody, and a message. Just do it with heart-felt emotion and don't make a production out of it.
Why don't they just have the military branches' choirs or bands perform the National Anthem? They could rotate from year to year. Honors the military and avoids debacles like this year.

Fortunately for us the Super Bowl as a whole was salvaged by the fact that all the players played their positions flawlessly, the refs called a perfect game, and the broadcasters never misspoke . . .

Anyways, besides nerfing up the words, I thought the performance was fine. Christina has earned her fair share of criticism, but the girl can belt it for sure. The ending maybe left a bit to be desired. I can understand why some people feel it is a very traditional thing that should be done the same every time, but I guess that's not where I'm at.

Just curious, how many of you were actually reflecting on what the song represents while it was being sung, and how many of you were just picking nits and playing armchair American Idol judge?

I honestly think that this is one of main things that's wrong with Americans (especially young people). They can't tell you who their senators are, or what the healthcare bill entails, but they sure as hell can tell you what club Paris Hilton went to last night, or what Kim Kardashian tweeted 2 minutes ago. It's a shame really.
