Did I **** myself by picking LT in Round 1? (1 Viewer)

I picked LT in the first round because it's a PPR league. Tonight, LT was in for what seemed like maybe 25% of the plays, and ZERO on the last drive where he usually thrives (dump-off passes and a drive-capping TD).

I don't care if it was the right move by SD to win the game. This is a fantasy football forum. Did I totally **** myself by taking him in the first round? Basically, do you think the precedent set tonight with Sproles seeing the majority of the plays is a trend that will continue throughout the season, or was it an anomaly? This year was supposed to be somewhat of a rebirth for LT, as he is supposedly healthy for the first time in a while. If things continue as they did tonight though, I might as well have drafted Sproles in the first round... :wall:

You did handcuff LT with Sproles right? He's argueably the 2nd most important handcuff behind Chester Taylor.

First off, it's *FAR* too early to call Tomlinson a bust. Far, far, far too early. Second off... 50% of first round picks bust (and it's far too early to say if Tomlinson is one of them this year), so worst case scenario, even if he's a useless lump all season long, you're no worse off than half the league.

It's early on, but which 50% are looking like busts to you so far?

I guess you missed the other LT thread where Turner mentioned that LT was out because he rolled his ankle.
Wasn't part of the argument against taking LT that he was unlikely to be very durable this year? The Chargers coaches have to see that Sproles is better back to have on the field in passing situations. LT's injury opened the door for more touches for Sproles, and it absolutely hurt his value going forward, even after he is 100% again. Also, the Chargers offensive line suffered two injuries to starters last night. It ain't looking good for LT no matter how you spin his performance last night.

Not as bad as the guy who drafted SJax in the first round.
I would trade LT for Jackson right now. He still looked strong and explosive. The Rams just didnt do a good job of calling his number in the passing game, and they committed a ton of penalties to get themselves in passing situations all day. Also, they almost had the game tied going into the half, but had too many men on the field when they blocked a FG and returned it for a TD. Things will get better for him.

From Kevin Acee (SD Union-Tribune's beat writer):

“It wasn't bad enough I couldn't play,” said Tomlinson, who was limping badly after the game. “Toward the end, it really got tight on me.”

Really hard to say, especially since history says most of the busts are going to be injury busts. For all I know, Adrian Peterson is the biggest bust of the first round because he breaks his leg in practice this week. :confused:Just looking at the performances of 1st rounders this week, Frank Gore had 30 yards on 22 carries and he's always got the injury stigma. DeAngelo had 37 yards rushing and saw Stewart eat far more carries than most people thought he would (including, iirc, all of the carries inside the 10 yard line). Michael Turner couldn't crack 3 yards per carry. I don't know if Slaton was technically a 1st rounder, but he (and the entire Houston offense) looked like rubbish. I actually thought SJax did very well compared to those guys (at least he got 4 yards per carry), but a lot of people are convinced that he's going to be terrible or injured this year. Lots of candidates still out there.

From Rotoworld

"Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson (ankle), C Nick Hardwick (knee), G Louis Vasquez (leg), and NT Jamal Williams (undisclosed) are all expected to be game-time decisions on Sunday.

Coach Norv Turner doesn't expect any of the injured players to practice on Wednesday, so we won't have a good idea on their status until Thursday at the earliest. Tomlinson rolled his ankle in the first quarter Monday night, and he's already looking to lose work to Darren Sproles even if he does play. He could also be without two starting offensive linemen."

Win. All the "i told you so" mongers are coming out in full force but I haven't seen one person back it up with who they would take instead. Everyone outside of MJD and AP have question marks.Next year I will proclaim that every back 30 and over will be a bust, one of them will stick right and quickly proclaim I told you so after week 1.

i think you we should wait and see 1 or 2 more games to call him a bust.....if anything Michael Turner AND Matt Forte AND steven jackson did worse than LT....so why dont u call them a bust?

Turner and Forte don't have the mileage on their wheels that LT does. People should have seen this coming from last year though. Not saying I wouldn't have taken him late in the 1st round, but not top 10 imo.

this is my first year owning LT.. sure hope they just rest him totally this week against the Ravens.. no practice nothing until Wed of next week and see how it reacts. heck, put that foot in a boot if it's that bad.
