Diet & Nutrition Guys Check In Here - Losing Weight Too Fast? (1 Viewer)

First, you wrote you were on a "no-sugar" diet. that's obviously false. Sounds like you're doing well, but don't deceive yourself.

In 2015: are egg yolks still considered any kind of danger whatsoever, given an otherwise super-clean diet?

Not long ago, egg yolks were considered in the same ballpark as lard, movie popcorn, etc. What do the nutritionists (the cutting-edge ones) say now? A dozen egg yolks a day OK if all else is clean? Less than that, like maybe 6 yolks/day OK? What are the recommendations?
a dozen egg yolks would be excessive but 3 eggs every morning would be fine. I eat three eggs with cheese and salsa almost every day.

elaborate on why?

low carb is nearly ancient way of dieting now...

bodybuilders come in more conditioned than the 70s

the 70s was low carb high fat -- steak and eggs diet

today is high carbs all the way till the end. = lower bodyfat = carbs burn like putting would on a fire.
 no it isn't. Might depend on your personal goals, but one trend in endurance activities is to be "fat adapted" and cut the carbs big time.

Do low-carb diets in 2015 make distinctions between refined/simple carbs and whole/complex carbs? Or are carbs of all types to be minimized?

SugarBusters, from ~18-20 years ago, was essentially a low-carb diet EXCEPT it allowed whole grains, sweet potatoes, and some more complex carbs. Still, I don't think you were supposed to down a half-loaf of whole-wheat bread a day with all the protein.
depends who you listen to for the details but in general, yes. Veggies = good. Sugar = bad.

Personally, I eat what I want but do so intentionally. It's the mindless eating "Bob brought in cake today, so I must eat a piece... an hour later, hmmm, there's leftovers, I'll take another..." that will kill you.

Unless your diabetic don't worry about high glycemic vs low glycemic it makes no difference.

This is a sample diet I give all clients who are trying to lose weight

Easy to follow

"Meal one

4 oz fruit of choice( mix fruits too)

1 cup liquid egg whites ( Kroger green carton is pasteurized safe to drink right out of carton)

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup oats ( dry measure )

(2-3 Splenda/dashes of cinnamon for more flavor..also add more ice for a smoothie like consistency)

Meal 2

8 oz lean meat Tilapia/chicken/turkey

1 cup of rice( cooked measurement)

1 medium to large salad keep the dressing lowest calorie you can find normally those balsamic vinegrate is low ( like you mentioned in your diet , no avocado).

Meal 3

1 cup liquid egg whites

1 cup oats ( dry )

1 cup almond milk

(2-3 Splenda/cinnamon; since no fruit you will need them in this one )

You'll probably be at work at this point so you'll need a fridge or a good ice pack thermos

If not , let me know we can rotate this meal. I just normally like to alternate liquid/whole/liquid in the morning because your not quite as hungry as night time. A lot easier to drink than eat when appetite is low.

Meal 4

1 cup frozen mixed veggies ( find and use the lowest carb one you can find > 25 carbs per 1 cup serving )

8 oz lean beef(93/7)/fish/turkey/chicken

Meal 5 - final meal so slowing down

Just a light meal to keep full and sleep on

4 oz lean meat fish/chicken/beef/turkey

( if feeling more hungry than usual, I would hit the red meat) but try to limit the red meats to 1-2x per week)

4-6 oz sweet potato

"

It's roughly 1900-2000 calories.

Obviously depending on bodyweight etc would determine invidiual caloric needs

Liquid egg whites sound ####### horrid
 why do this?
I guess that's why America is obese. No will power

One simply cannot stay on low carb diet there entire life.

If you try good luck. Let me know when the binge eating starts.

No one in the inner circles of bodybuilding/powerlifting/fitness in general really recommend it.

But if you don't care about working out and building muscle

Go for it.

If working out and building muscle is the goal

Better keep your carbs

Ctsu curious--as you find it humorous

What's your stats? If you lift?

Height weight

Deadlift, bench, squat?

:oldunsure: was your rant really in response to my question?

Btw, you're flat out wrong in your assertion that nobody within the fitness field recommends low carb.
