Diggs to Buffalo (1 Viewer)

Bills give:

1st round pick

5th round pick

6th round pick

2021 4th round pick

Vikings give:

Stefon Diggs

7th round pick

As a Bills fan, I like them getting Diggs, but man...after seeing the Cards get Hopkins for a bag of chips, giving up a 1st, 5th, 6th and a 4th next year sure seems really really steep.

Fantasy-wise, Singletary owners are probably happy unless they sign a FA. A lot fewer draft picks to use on another RB.

.... and Diggs is another legit deep threat to get the secondary away from the LOS. With Diggs on one side, Brown on the other, and given the arm strength Allen has it's going to be very risky for any defense to leave their corners on an island with no help from the S's deep. Brown goes from a "meh" #1 WR to suddenly a strong #2 WR.

I think the fan base of 30 teams are pretty pissed they didn't pull off the Hopkins trade. O'Brien doesn't seem very smart(as a GM at least) but I think even he is smart enough that he didn't want to face Hopkins in the AFC playoffs with a chip on his shoulder.

I realize they gave up several day 3 picks for Diggs..... but at the same time he really make life easier for every other skill position player on that offense. Suddenly Brown will likely see more single coverage and is better suited as a #2. The middle of the field opens up for both Beasley(much better suited as a #3 WR than a #2) and Knox has a chance to develop faster as an afterthought for the defense. At it's core BUF wants to be a running team and that's so much easier with both deep and intermediate targets down field. This is likely to be the most exciting Bills offense to watch since the old Kelly/Thomas days imo.

The biggest "?" about this trade is...... will Diggs finally be happy? He always seems unhappy. When the Vikings go out and sign the biggest FA QB... he's unhappy. When the Vikings are winning but he isn't getting enough targets.... he's unhappy. When he signs a big contract extension.... he's still unhappy. I don't like to throw around the "C" word too much but there's definitely a non-zero chance that he becomes a cancer in the locker room. If he actually is happy and motivated I think the day 3 draft picks and the salary are worth the move. The Bills have the cap space and they are good enough now it's not a lock 5th/6th round draft picks are even going to make the team.

More than anything if I were a Bills fan I'd be happy that the team seems to be doing everything in its power to give Allen the absolute best chance to succeed. The easy thing to do is sit on your hands when you have a young QB and finally clawed your way back into the playoffs. BUF has chosen to be aggressive and really try to take a risk to become the next power in the division after a possible NE regression. I can't remember the last time there was this much interest/intrigue in how the AFC East would come out.

Diggs loves himself some Diggs. Good riddance. My only wish is he would have been sent to the Redskins or Detroit.
