Digital Camera pic of the day (1 Viewer)

Thought some of you photogs might enjoy something like this.
Is it odd that I want to get this?I sent my wife a wish list of things to get for my birthday/Chanukah/Christmas

Put the SB 700 on there that should come out in the next two weeks and SB 900

Also threw in some soft boxes and power grip

Hopefully I get some of it

For guys that use the gorilla pod, what size is good for the D90. I was in the store the other day and got flustered and left without picking one up because they had so many options

Of all the nerve: Picasa goes and adds another cool feature to their free software. Just tried this

in Picasa 3.8 last night. Took about 5 seconds to get a nice video of my daughter growing up over time. I like the addition of Piknik to Picasa too. This fixes the limitation of adding simple frames or vignettes in Picasa.

Big fan of this free application.

Pantagrapher's urban compositions are amazing. Nice job Brotha.

Been a fan for a good many years now and you've definitely influenced my urban composition sensibilities! Here's my shot at at it.
Thanks! I like that top photo the best of the two. I feel like that dizzying array of wires belongs in the photo somehow—it provides contrast to the calm stillness of the chair. But I often crop my photos mercilessly. If you don't think they belong, then off with their heads.

Anyone interested in doing an FFA Weekly Photo Challenge? We pick a weekly topic and all take a shot, post our results and discuss. I need a creative kick in butt and these always seemed fun. If there's enough interest I'll start a new thread for us...

We had a couple FFA photo contests in the past. They were actually a lot of fun. Found out there were a lot of undercover photogs lurking on the board. I'd be up for doing that again.

Cool, was hoping you'd be up for it. How did they run in the past?

I still have the old ones Bookmarked:#3..

#4...

But this time of the year stinks for me

Usually takes until closer to Christmas, or after the 1st of the year for me to find things that excite me to take ;)

I was thinking just a weekly "challenge", not necessarily a judged contest. We pick a weekly topic and everything interprets the general idea however they want. Then we post and critique. No winners or losers, just a reason for us all to get creative.Thoughts?

ETA: We can do the contest thing if you guys would rather go that route. I'll play, course.

Glad to try. I am a total amateur, but a little photo mission every week would be a nice source of inspiration.

This is what I was imagining. Someone nominates a topic and the members go out and capture something. Love it.

Weekly? I have an 18-month old, I don't have time for weekly. But I'd love to have some more incentive to try to get my camera out. If all the themes have to do with little boys though, I'm in. :excited:

:lmao: same here.
Jump in when you have time. If you don't participate a week or two, no biggie.

I'm in again although I hate my current camera and the pictures it takes.

Maybe I'll have to buy myself a new camera for Christmas.

Or Thanksgiving.

Or Tuesday.

I figure you can use the inspiration any time you want, and since there'd be no need for a contest, there'd be no need for a deadline for you to contribute.

Sounds good to me. Who is deciding on the theme and starting the threads?

Marble Mirror

Was out and about for lunch the other day, not the best shot and have not touched this one.

And actually, wish I would have had my camera, that was just with my phone but I loved how clear of a reflection there was on the wet marble.

Nice photo. I personally would have preferred a more level shot instead of off angle view as I don't think it adds anything to the photo, but that's just a personal preference.
Thanks for the feedback. I actually shot it level and rotated it in post; I found the composition rather dull with it perfectly level. I'll post the "before" shot for comparison in a bit.

Nice.. That is one of those where you end up going :( when you see it and realize you don't have your "good" camera..

OK, here's the original shot of The Tracks with no tilt. Thoughts? Opinions?

Hawk taking fish from Osprey in mid-flight.

Blurry

the reach

The grab

Hawk successful

The hawk dropped the fish shortly there after.
Must be a certain place you are taking these as I think ;) I've seen ones like these before.Either way, nice captures of the action :wall:
This is a once in a lifetime shot, I put these pictures up once before.

There is a temporary river/stream where the hitch (fish) swim up stream about once a year after the rain season. The osprey love the fish here because they like shallow streams and also streams that don't impede them from getting in and out of the water. So our goal was just to shoot pictures of the osprey fishing. Maybe we would get lucky get the osprey getting in and out of the water with a fish. We got those pictures, which is rare, but we kept tracking the osprey and got really lucky with these pictures.

I spotted two bald eagles in a farmer's field this morning, but didn't have my camera with me and by the time I returned with my camera they were no where to be found.
