Certainly, the composition and lighting need to be good. But I must say that my new camera pics look a lot better than my junky old one.is it the quality of the camera that gives a photo its "richness"?i'm taking pictures but they all look like crap. they don't have that "gallery" quality at all. it just looks like a $20 disposable camera photo shot by a drunken 16 year old.![]()
What is the MP size of your camera? Can you adjust exposure and use manual focus?maybe i'm just a sucky photographer (98% positive of this) but it just seems like there is something to a guy like pantagraphers photos that are missing from anything i snap.surely most of that is knowledge, skill and understanding but is it also techmologoy to some degree?
Also, do you shoot with a tripod?maybe i'm just a sucky photographer (98% positive of this) but it just seems like there is something to a guy like pantagraphers photos that are missing from anything i snap.surely most of that is knowledge, skill and understanding but is it also techmologoy to some degree?

eta: no tripod. That should be quite the exploration. Plan is to have a notebook back at the hotel where I can return and download my photo's so I don't have to worry about running out of space for photos. At 30,000 acres Crex is the largest state owned wildlife area in Wisconsin. This intensively managed property is home to 270 species of birds and 600 species of plants. A wide variety of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and insects also reside here.

I think a tripod is a must. If you can adjust your exposure, you put the camera on a tripod, set the timer on your camera, then your photo will turn out nice with natural light because you don't have to hold the camera steady.mr. furley said:let's pretend i have no idea what you're talking about.jdoggydogg said:What is the MP size of your camera? I'd say, at most, 10% of my photo's were taken with a tripod. If it's dark out(Early morning/late evening) then yes it's a must. But during sunrises/sunsets and any time in-between I very rarley use one. I find they inhibit my ability to get the shots I want.I think a tripod is a must. Elbows against body, camera SMASHED against face, hold breath and shoot... Other times I will Sit on my Butt and use my Knees but have also been known to use the ground, a rock, a tree.. Whatever I need to get the angle and a steady shot. You must have a steadier hand than I doI'd say, at most, 10% of my photo's were taken with a tripod. I really love this picture!
Thanks!!I don't do B&W to often but that one seemed to call for it.I really love this picture!
Like the angle in the first one.
Nice. This picture reminds me why I need to use my flash less often. Natural light is so much better!
Nice capture here. The girlfriend and I just returned from over a week in Iceland and Amsterdam. The landscape in Iceland is just ridiculous. Every scene is too beautiful for words. These are far from the best pics but a couple I quickly found. The last pic is from Amsterdam.
Ring Road South

That is amazing. Is there no heavy Photoshop work on that image?
