Digital Camera pic of the day (3 Viewers)

is it the quality of the camera that gives a photo its "richness"?

i'm taking pictures but they all look like crap. they don't have that "gallery" quality at all. it just looks like a $20 disposable camera photo shot by a drunken 16 year old.

:lmao:

Certainly, the composition and lighting need to be good. But I must say that my new camera pics look a lot better than my junky old one.

maybe i'm just a sucky photographer (98% positive of this) but it just seems like there is something to a guy like pantagraphers photos that are missing from anything i snap.

surely most of that is knowledge, skill and understanding but is it also techmologoy to some degree?

What is the MP size of your camera? Can you adjust exposure and use manual focus?

Also, do you shoot with a tripod?

Furley. Not sure about Pant, but I tend to take 3 or 4 photos of the same thing adjusting the Apeture or shutter speed as well as Exposure/White Balance. Nice thing with Digital is I can take 100 photos, go through them when I get home and delete any I don't like. By taking many photos of the same scene at different settings I can then pick & Choose the one I like best. I also then take down notes of what worked and what didn't to "retry" at a later date.I can't wait to get my Canon xti this spring. I am planning on taking a weekend trip in April or early May up to an area in Western Wisconsin called Crew Meadows:

At 30,000 acres Crex is the largest state owned wildlife area in Wisconsin. This intensively managed property is home to 270 species of birds and 600 species of plants. A wide variety of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and insects also reside here.
That should be quite the exploration. Plan is to have a notebook back at the hotel where I can return and download my photo's so I don't have to worry about running out of space for photos.

I think a tripod is a must. If you can adjust your exposure, you put the camera on a tripod, set the timer on your camera, then your photo will turn out nice with natural light because you don't have to hold the camera steady.

I'd say, at most, 10% of my photo's were taken with a tripod. If it's dark out(Early morning/late evening) then yes it's a must. But during sunrises/sunsets and any time in-between I very rarley use one. I find they inhibit my ability to get the shots I want.

Elbows against body, camera SMASHED against face, hold breath and shoot... Other times I will Sit on my Butt and use my Knees but have also been known to use the ground, a rock, a tree.. Whatever I need to get the angle and a steady shot.

Or you can just get one of these.
