It's really beautiful.
I've never used Photoshop or other software but was playing around just with the HP Image software on some northern lights pictures which didn't turn out too well (my nikon digital doesn't have a full manual mode that I can tell so I wasn't able to extend exposure as long as I wanted for tough night northern lights pics) and it made a big difference pulling out the color from the darkness.
My question is if other programs (like HP Image Zone) are worth a crap or if it's really on Photoshop. TIA.
Thank you.I don't know anything about HP Image Zone.
Adobe makes an editor called Photoshop Elements 5 that is much cheaper than full Photoshop and is a lot more user friendly. It is powerful enough to take care of the needs of about 98% (educated guess on my part) of the photographers that want to do image editing. Paint Shop Pro and Corel PhotoPaint are a couple of others that are very good and reasonably priced. The reason that I suggest Element is that there are a ton of magazine, books, video tutorials, etc. available to help you learn the basics and beyond.
Adobe has a 30 day trial of Elements (it appears for the PC only for some strange reason) that might be worth looking at.
