Digital Camera pic of the day (1 Viewer)

I haven't had many chances to take interesting pics over the last few months. But last weekend I visited Armstrong Woods - which is only 30 minutes away from me in Northern Cali. It's spectacular. The pics aren't easy to capture with my 8 MP point and shoot because on any given day the forest is super shady while the sky above is very bright.

Anyway, these were pretty decent:

Steam

Fallen

Moss

Columns

Path

Ferns

Split

Roots
PATH is my favorite. What a fantastic shot. That looks like a path I'd enjoy taking.

The forest is spectacular if you ever get a chance to visit.

Recent vacation in Maui...

Maui Sunset
It's funny that you have this pic too........the wife and I have been to Maui 3 times out of the past 5 years. I have one almost identical to this one. The only difference is the clouds above the sailboat that I took. I took my pic from a luau in Lahaina, just south of where you took yours.Great pic!

I'll have to drop some of my Maui pics in this thread. You're right, every pic you take is a postcard on that island. Maybe I'll drop some Iao Valley pics in here, or Seven Pools, or on top of Haleakula volcano during a sunrise.

Thanks to everyone who gave me the  on my sunrise and/or Lombardi Trophy pic.

Just found this thread. I'm starting to get more and more into photography. I would love some input on the following pictures.

Nassau Lighthouse

Lazy Day on the Beach

James Bond Beach
I like Lighthouse, nice bird fly-by.The last two are close, but the centering of the main object distracts from the overall image, IMO.

I'd suggest reading up on the "rule of thirds" as it really would have helped on those two shots.
Thanks for the help snogger. I googled the rule of thirds and then started playing in photoshop. There is a big difference in cropping the main object away from the center.

1st year in the last 3 that it wasn't negative 15 or colder for the Hudson Hot Air Affair.

Unfortunately the winds didn't cooperate so only one Balloon was daring enough to try and inflate.. Here are the shots that I got:

Pegasus

Watch your back

The battle is on

Night Colors - Hand held in program mode was NOT the way to go, but I kind of like the effect :2cents:

Warm Up Tripod helped :goodposting:
