DirecTV Sunday NFL Ticket (1 Viewer)

I keep waiting for Directv to have a way to just sign-up for the Redzone channel...but I'm disappointed every year. On the other hand, Directv has given me free Sunday Ticket two years in a row by threatening to cancel when they don't offer it.

this is pretty awesome.....but there has to be a catch right....?....especially for current Direct TV customers.....they never take care of current customers, it's usually the new customers that get deals like this....what gives...?

Get the right CS rep and they will take care of you, plus it doesn't hurt to say your leaving so you can get the RedZone somewhere else....

the catch is they are going to buck on coming off the $300 package knowing all of us want Redzone. Thats the single best feature.

I wonder if they will budge at all now that they lowered the price. I used to get it at a discount, but wonder what type of finagling I can do to get the price down even further.

I just called and they budged off of the $300 price. Then again, the lady I talked to was a little dumb, because she originally said I could get teh "Sunday Ticket Max" for $100, until she realized it was an add-on. Usually it's as simple as calling, saying you are going to Dish, then they will offer it to you for half price...then give it to you free.

It may be that I'm still locked into a contract, but fortunately for me, that contract expires in mid-June. Something tells me that they'll take care of me when I call on July 1st.

I got stand-alone Red Zone channel for free last year after a few minutes of haggling...not sure if they'll offer it this year, but they CAN offer the RZC as a single channel...

Yes, if you call the right rep they'll take care of you. All I had to do last year was call in twice and tell them if they don't sweeten the deal a little bit I'm leaving to Dish Network, who does have the RedZone Channel and offers it for free.By the time the two 10 minute phone calls were done I ended up getting Sunday Ticket for absolutely free and I got "To-Go" for $24.99 total! That's an extra $3.99 on my bill for 6 months! I got the same deal the year prior.

I never watch the Red Zone channel but I'm going to miss the 30 minute condensed games. Many weeks I'd watch every NFL game that way but I won't pay the extra $100 for this.

One suggestion for people. If you watch at home and don't need the ability to watch on your computer see if you can find a friend or family member willing to fork over $100 so they can watch on their computer or phone. This might be ideal for someone without Directv or who has to work on some or most Sundays but can still get to their computer/phone. It's a win for them and a win for you because they would basically be paying to upgrade you the package giving you Rezone and the condensed games.

This is true, you can get the Red Zone as a stand alone on Direct. They just don't offer it. You usually have to wait til it's close to the start of the regular season and then call up and haggle. If they won't do it, hang up up and call again.

Cable and satellite companies are losing subscribers in record numbers right now. They are facing losses of subscribers that their new subscriptions aren't keeping up with. So I imagine that retention has become an even bigger focus than it used to be.

I got rid of Direct TV a few years ago and couldn't be happier. I stream the games online to my TV. There are tons of web sites that do this. Direct TV is so expensive for their monthly packages I had to switch. Got AT&T U-Verse and love it. Pay under $80 with phone and internet. I pay an extra $5 a month for NFL Redzone channel. DTV cost me over $100 just for all the same movie channels and was more during NFL season, even though I always got it discounted.

You have tv, a landline and internet connection for less than $80/month?

My contract ends in September, I'm sure I'll be getting the full Sunday Ticket for free again this year
What are saying that they give it to you for free? After several years of calling in and getting discounts, I have never ever gotten them to give me anything close to free.

I had an expired contract and called in last year, disappointed they were giving the Ticket to new customers for free. Did some research beforehand and picked out a similar package to what I have with DirecTV from Dish. Called and said I was changing if they didnt give me some sort of deal. Guy wasted no time, said I could have it free if it would prevent me from leaving DirecTV. Told him I appreciated it and we began to talk some football. He then asked if I had HD, to which I replied I did not want to pay $10 per month. He gave me a free HD DVR box and offered to cancel the charge out by offering me $10 off a month for 12 months. Said after that expires I can call back in and get the same thing each year.Doubt I get it free again this year, but I will be calling to get some sort of discount. It almost seems like they expect you to call in and negotiate the price actually.

I had it go similarly. I researched Dish before calling so when I talked to them I could mention a specific Dish package that was cheaper, etc. I also had the added ammunition that I'd just referred someone to DTV that week, told them I was frustrated that they are getting it for free when not only do I have to pay... but since I'm attending games half the season, I have to pay full price rather than being able to buy it the weeks I can use it, so I'm effectively paying double the price for the time I actually can watch it. Ended up basically getting it for free plus a discount off my bill.
