Disappointed In Chris Smith's #1 Spot Draft Analysis (1 Viewer)

I look forward to these every year but am wondering what draft he got his information from?

No way Demaro Murray lasts till 3.11, Stafford till 4.01, Julio Jones till 3.8, Adrian Peterson at 6.12 ????? Chris were you drinking :banned: Ben Tate in the 11 ?? Jay Cutler in the 13th ??

and who the heck will draft Sproles at 2.03?

Can I be in this league? I'd clean up.

This alone IMHO has ruined this year's version of this analysis.

Call me disappointed.

I demand a re-write... not something from Disneyland.

Got it from the daily e-mail update. Am I allowed to link it?

Don't complain...I'm gonna get me Greg Jennings with the 9th pick in the third round, and Wes Welker with the 4th pick in the fourth round.

Dominant!

Let's take a step back.

We are drafting right now in a redraft with several FBG staff, Jimmy Graham went #2 overall...shocking I know but you don't know the scoring rules which can drastically change ADP for folks. People get so caught up in the exact draft spot and it is not needed. Julio Jones and AJ Green can go from anywhere as early as the 1/2 turn to somewhere in the middle later part of the 3rd round. Players can be all over the board.

It's fair to have a debate and possibly a critique of certain articles but to just go into the Shark Pool and start blasting Chris Smith shows a real lack of class and judgement. How would you feel if you wrote something and instead of questions or honest criticism you get somebody who is making "demands" in the OP? I think folks getting that worked up might want to step outside and get some fresh air for a minute.

Why not send a personal email or PM first before doing something like this? Just a total lack of class and awareness IMO.

Cheers

My apologies if this came off as a lack of class. To me the kicker is Peterson listed as the 6th round. I suppose my disappointment is due tothe quality I have come to expect from Footballguys. You guys always do agreat job & I found this article to be lacking what I normally find here.

Man you want that staff job badly. If they ask people to pay for the content, an article that looks like it used last year's ADP list should be blasted.

I agree with what you say for the most part. However, as a subscriber, we are paying for a product from footballguys. I assume the writer of the article is being paid for his work. That money comes from us. It is fairly obvious he didn't do enough mocks, research, etc. when he wrote the article. I think it is fair to voice concerns about that, when we are paying for the information. If it was free, no biggie! I would like to see an updated article at the least.

I thought all the others you listed were much worse than Peterson in the 6th round.

No reason to apologize and it's not un-classy to be critical of something that you feel that is well below FBGs standards. I think you're going to find a lot of people reading those articles and thinking, "what kind of dead money is this guy playing with to think some of these guys will last that long!?" It's not like it's free content and this is a brown nosing circle jerk. That said you pretty much have to accept that you're not going to get any help from this portion of the subscription and dismiss any advice(as you should), or ask for a refund and miss some of the content that is done very well.

Not asking for a refund but I do think the article could easily be re-written using ADP information that's available right here on Footballguys.com

Did you notice how almost every team had the exact same players in the middle/end of the draft no matter what pick was being analysed? I little diversity would have been nice.

Hey Ralph, I made a point not to call anyone by name because I don't know what the real intent was. I doubt you were trying to actually go after Chris Smith. I also think it is awesome you posted back and didn't try to keep the bad mojo flowing. Maybe Chris will update the article or possible re-write it if he knows folks would appreciate a more specific article. I agree though that ADP in May/June is useless in late Aug/early Sept

Hello everyone. I was pointed to this thread as I likely would have missed it. I am not on the forums as much as I used to be due to work / family commitments.

I hear what everyone is saying in regards to the article and I promise to attempt to make it more realistic going forward. I am going to be honest with you and let you know that the article itself was written several weeks back and unfortunately ended up in a queue due to the overwhelming amount of articles, features and contests that we are providing at Footballguys.com

I was considering dropping the study as it is critical that the articles get posted immediately to the site as they are quite time sensitive. At the time it was written, Adrian Peterson for example was well down the rankings and it was looking like he would be a non-factor for at least the first few weeks of the season.

When I do these studies, I only take the roll on of the team that is drafting. I leave the rest to the Draft Dominator and the different options it gives for mock drafts (MFL, CBS, Consensus, etc). I set up a different one for each team and simply focus on my own team much like you would in a real draft. There will be players that fall in every draft you compete in that afterwards you will be surprised fell into your lap. The same thing happens to me in both real drafts and while penning this article.

The reason you see some of the same players over and over is not laziness but players that I have my own particular positive thoughts on. These are players that I will be targeting in leagues as well.

I receive tons of positive feedback in addition to requests for future studies so I know the articles are well received.

I have heard your complaints and I will do my best to improve the product going forward for those of you with issues regarding it.

I thank you all for reading and I encourage you 100% if you have any thoughts, good or bad to please email me

smith@footballguys.com

as I believe both positive and negative comments will help improve the feature in the long run.

Thanks again. I appreciate the feedback my friends.

Thanks for understanding. The articles I am penning will be up fresh going forward and I am currently working on a number of them, including several requests I have received. I have basically locked myself inside my writing dungeon for the next few weeks and will be banging out many of these over that span. I will do my best to re-visit the outdated ones and provide a fresh take on them for our subscribers.I love all feedback good and bad my friend. It makes us all better. :)

This seems to have been a chronic condition for FBG of late. You guys got hammered last year for untimely and sloppy efforts. Seems like nothing's let up. Gets to the point, you become involved in so much, the quality of what product is out there becomes highly diluted. This is a very good case in point.

Agreed. The quantity seems to be their focus instead of the quality.

I have not read the article, but I will say that Chris Smith's rankings are one of about five that I look at.

I agree with this. I wish FBG would spend a couple years perfecting what they already do rather than expanding what they do.

Man you want that staff job badly. If they ask people to pay for the content, an article that looks like it used last year's ADP list should be blasted.
Ha, that was the first thought I had! LOL

Good thing you guys are going to get so much content on how to beat FanDuel games this year...
