Knee osteoarthritis has become so painful in both knees that it's interfering with my steps to throw off the tee. Last round, I just threw from a standstill off the tee and on a short course, this worked out well. But I'm not sure it's going to work on longer courses and this sucks. I was really enjoying this sport but I'm just unable to cross step without feeling like somebody hit my knees with a hammer. :(
May want to try some forehands, a one step forehand...should use different parts of your leg, knee which might not hurt as much.

I know I need to get out to Tech with you and your kids!!! soon

Sorry man that sucks to hear. I've had numerous elbow issues flare up in my 4 years of playing, but thus far I've been lucky with my knees. Why didn't I start this game 25 years ago?

I was watching a video explaining how to throw a forehand and the one dude mentioned tennis elbow. I was like wtf. Ironically it's only my non throwing elbow that's tender. What's that about?

Never had ANY pains in my knees or back or anywhere, but I hit 51 this year and man, it has been really alarming how quickly this came on and triggered by nothing - no falls, injuries, etc. Oh well....I'm going back out today after work and will just keep working on throwing motions.

I've had chronic pain in all those places for years and I'm only 47. This isn't gonna end well.

Ultimately, it ends with me in a crematorium, so the outcome was never really ideal for me.

Any of your oregonians have any good courses to recommend? Gonna be out there on 9/14. Not gonna have enough time around portland but anything near crater lake or bend would work as i'll have some extra time there.

No, I still have some but the efficacy has diminished. Nothing helps with the pain. Not OTC pain meds, not rx meds, I even took some oxy (which I loathe) and it just hurts.

Used a brace today and took some steps, but really concentrated on throwing motion only. Did.....OK.

I've only played once in Bend and the course I played was cool but very rocky, footing hard in spots and hard to see the baskets from the teepad. But I was also pretty drunk so that might have posed a problem. There's a few on the coast if you are still heading that way. I'll do some digging....

I am. 3 days driving down to jediah. Didn't expect there would be anything but would gladly slip in a round to mix things up. Staying in Seaside, Lincoln County and North Bend so anything around there would be ideal where I can just slip in around early morning before the girlfriend even knows I'm gone. But anything would really be fine. She can just drop me off for 2 hours and do whatever it is she does.

I don't where it when I play but I know that a brace helps a lot for me on long hikes. My theory is it just stabilizes everything and prevents it rubbing in places where the cartilage is gone.

Oh boy......Seaside, Lincoln City AND North Bend? You neglected to tell me you were into meth. ;)

Yikes. I'll poke around and get back to you.

Re: Lincoln City - do NOT miss the Pelican Brewery's new spot in Siletz Bay on the south side of LC. It's gorgeous. Just a beautiful building on the bay.

I like to stay close to my roots. I just go where the airbnb reviews take me.

Ehhhh, Seaside is fine if you've never been before. Nice boardwalk, great brewpub, plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance and a solid beach to enjoy. I'm just a snob.

Lincoln City is pretty big for a coast town, so lots to do. As I said, on the south side of town is Siletz Bay which is really cool....great place to fly a kite, try your hand at crabbing and the Pelican Brewery there is awesome - big wrap around deck, cool architecture. Pricey but worth it if you just get fish n chips and a pint or 2.

North Bend, I got nothing. I'm sure it's fine. :oldunsure:

Its cool. I don't spend money on lodging. As long as the reviews are great, I'm just looking for value. We're really just sleeping there. Show up after dinner. Crash. Leave early. Where we go in between is up to us. Lots of driving. Lots of stops. This is gonna be an action packed trip. So pumped. Gonna need to start putting an itinerary together soon. My girlfriend has the planning skills of a small child. I see the air quality has been very good recently. Hooooollllllllldddddddddd!!!!!!!!!

I really don't know enough about North Bend/Coos Bay to comment - it gets a bad wrap, but the scenery is gorgeous and that's all that really matters. All up and down 101 on the coast is superlative beauty, unmatched by any state in this nation, IMO. Try and visit some of the sand dunes around that area if you can, they are spectacular.

Knock on wood, but the air quality has been quite good this month as temps in the area have been very mild. We haven't topped 80 more than once or twice in August, which is unusual. However, that's changing today and into the weekend as temps climb into the 90s but that won't last long, especially with the sun setting earlier and earlier. I've had to defrost the car's windshield the last few mornings.

If you use Reddit, there's a ton of great disc golf recs for Oregon - there's quite a few on the coast I'd love to play and haven't yet. Hope you're good with wind! Udisc also is a great resource for finding reviews of courses nearby, so you can probably find one near your stay and play a round before the GF wakes up.

There are some great courses in and around Eugene if that is part of your travels between Bend and the coast.

It is not unfortunately. Just making a big circle around it.
