Sorry if this is the wrong forum. If it needs to be in the Free For All, Mods please move. I just thought with the NFL Network tie, it belonged...

I go to turn on the Combine and the NFL Network isn't available anymore. I contact Dish Network and their explanation is that the "Free Preview" ended. It has been on for nearly two years! That isn't a free preview! That is taking away programming! They said it belongs in the Am200 package. I received no notification of this happening until I complained.

Dear Valued DISH Network Customer,

DISH Network will be no longer able to continue offering the NFL Network programming within the AT100 and AT100 Plus packages as of 02/19/08, and will be moved to the AT200 package on February 19th. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but now that we are moving out of free preview, DISH Network needs to place NFL Network in our higher valued package. DISH Network will continue to bring the highest value channels to our customers, at the most competitive prices.

We know how frustrating this is for you, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Due to the high value of this programming DISH Network is obligated to place it in our higher valued package.

If you would like to continue enjoying the great programming from the NFL Network please log onto the HYPERLINK "http://www.dishnetwork.com/footballupgrade/"www.dishnetwork.com/footballupgrade/ or call 1-888-884-2631 to upgrade your programming package today!

It is important to note that DISH Network continues to offer versatile programming within our existing DISH Network packages. Our customers can continue to enjoy similar sports like programming on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN News and basic programming like FOX, if they only subscribe to the AT100 package.

Your business is greatly appreciated and we thank you for allowing us to be of assistance to you. If you have any further questions or concerns, please reply to this email.

Sincerely,

DISH Network E-care
This just makes me :lmao: I encourage other Dish Network people to contact them and  as I have. I doubt it will do any good, but maybe we can get them to change something.

 Same thing happened to me. I get home from work yesterday looking forward to checking out some Combine updates on the NFLN and to my disgust it wasn't there! I almost fainted!

I called my carrier up (I have an AT&T bundle package) and very calmly and politely asked the kind young man at the other end of the line..."Uh...what happened to my NFL Network?". He started laughing because he said about 90% of the calls they had for the day were due to this issue.

The way he explained it to me was that the NFL Network raised their prices so all the carriers had to do the same. I reminded him that I was no longer contrctually obligated to them so I could go to someone else if they didn't give me back my NFLN and he said that it would just be a matter of time before all other carriers either raised their rates or changed their packages that offered it...either way you are gonna pay an increase.

Basically, due to NFLN raising the price on them, Dish just added it to one of their better packages. I only had the basic package since all I wanted...NEEDED was the NFLN. He then told me that since I was a bundle subscriber, I could get the upgrade (200+ channels and the almighty NFLN) it would only cost me $7 more a month (regularly $12).

I figured it was worth it because I would also be getting the ESPN classic and ESPNU channels as well as a few more movie channels and kids channels for the youngins.

So, basically, just like rising gas prices...bend over and show 'em your pearly whites.

I don't own the dish, still stuck using ####ty comcast cable but isnt their contracts involved in this when signing up for a package?

I was actually out today at a Home and Garden Expo in Portland, Or. We were talking to a Dish vendor and he convinced us that we could move to DirectTV and get free install, DVR, and increase in channels from 100 to 180 for 1 year and reduce out monthly cost by $3. (Dish Network just upped us $4 or $5 a month w/o notice for the most basic package) So we told him to call us tomorrow and we'd do it.

Now I get home tonight and read this about Dish Network. Turn on my TV and it's frickn' gone. So anyhow, I'm gonna call up Dish Network and give them a piece of my mind and tell them I'm going to DirectTV.

And now I'll be able to get Sunday Ticket now anyways. Big corporations suck!

Wow! my son was right. When Comcast took over Adelphia and we had the NFLN, they cut it off and tried to charge us to get back. Some paid the $4.99 fee right away and some of us #####ed and got it for $1 a month extra. I was still pissed and he told me that Direct Tv was the way to go. I did and am happy.

He also predicted that if the NFL kept pushing it that Direct TV might end up being the only one with it The NFL is still fighting it so maybe he right, for the short term.

I live in a rinky dink town is South Dakota, I just have basic cable and I'm so lucky that my cable provider is providing the NFL network with its basic package.

why are you mad at Dish , you should be mad at the NFL for pricing the NFL network off the lower tier

How much did the NFL raise the rates that results in the need to pay $7 more? Methinks the nfl did not raise it's rate that much per person (weren't they talking $0.70 per person before?) and that these guys are doing exactly what the NFL said they would - using their highly desirable product to force people to pay a lot more for things they otherwise wouldn't want in an extra package or tier. Frankly, neither side looks good in this ongoing saga.

Obviously a huge football fan, I think the NFL network is good but there's no way it should be on basic cable driving up the cost to every subscriber. There's just not enough good content.

I agree that neither side looks good, but I would like to know the difference in subscriber base between the AT100 and AT200 packages. How much less does Dish now pay back to the NFL network, based on the lower subscriber base?Another interesting test case here is to measure the delta between AT100 / AT200 subscribers before the move and how many do move up to the AT200 tier. How many people are really willing to pay more to have access to this highly specialized channel content?

Well, my 2 year contract with DISH is up in August. Looks like I'll be moving to DirecTV at that point. :D I never would have signed up with DISH if they didn't have the NFLN in the lower package.

AT&T U-Verse still includes NFLN and NFLN HD in their "U-200" package, which is one step above the very basic "U-100" package. They have a separate extra "sports package", but subscribers thankfully don't need that to get NFLN (and Big 10 network).

FYI, I just called in and told them to cancel me because of the NFLN change.

I ended up getting an upgrade to AT200 with a $10 credit for the next 12 months. In the end I now have AT200 but my bill will go down from $48.97 to $44.99. At least I have 12 months to figure out how to deal with the decision again.

It did not take much complaining or negotiating, I think they have gotten these calls routinely. They key is to tell the first person that answers you want to cancel. Then they transfer you to a "specialist" who can actually work for you.

FWIW, before calling Dish, I looked into DTV and it would have cost me more to get the same setup DVR/locals/moderate programming/NFLN from DTV.

Good luck to anyone else in this situation!

I have had both and use to be a dealer for Dish Network . And Direc Tv blows dish out of the water . if you didnt change yet change . It is well worth it . And if your a real football fan you wont find anything even close to drtv.

Dish network is for chicks. DIRECTV is for football.

If you want football, pay for it.

Or, get off the ghetto train and hit up Direct Tv. If you like football enough to call up and #####, why are you only watching the crap games the networks give ya?

Just called and spoke with them. They'd only offer me a 6 month upgrade with no credit. But, at least I get the combine and pre-draft coverage while I decide how to proceed.Make sure the original operator understands you are willing to cancel their service if they can't help.

Some of us can't afford to shell out the $ it costs to get the NFL Ticket. Dish network offered (past tense) everything I could ask for.

 I can't think of a single reason to use Dish over DirecTV. Best decision I ever made was switching from cable to DTV.

DISH is lying to its customers. Here is a press release from early 2006 announcing the inclusion of NFL Network as a regular feature to the AT60 package and up. There was no "free 2-year preview". Contact DISH to complain. And while you're at it, contact the NFL Network too - there are always 2 sides to the story and I am sure plenty of blame to go around.

i got dishtv last august because of an intro deal . i was comparing cable to dish mainly because i wanted to get the monday night games . the top 100 contract i have costs $26 a month . the cable pack cost 54$ . the nfl network was a bonus but it is 90% of what i watch (besides nfl games) .

im going to get direct tv when the contract expires for the 2009 season and a new tv . i would get direct tv this august and nfl ticket but contract lasts until febuary 2009 .

this move sucks by dish .

according to the nfl emails i got nfl net costs the companies less than 1 $ a month .

i was waffling to pay the extra in 2009 for direct and ticket but this latest dish move makes me sour on them .

ive thought about calling but i am concerned to get a great deal offer but then see on my bill by doing so i have committed to another 18 months or other timeframe .

Still going to make the change. The "expo" guy called yesterday and I'll going to call him tomorrow to come out to hook us up. Still frustrated that I'm sitting here having to read about the Combine instead of getting to watch it. Can't wait to call Dish to cancel service. Can't wait to have DVR as well...
