DNC Computers Breached By Russian Hackers (1 Viewer)

The article appears to have been edited.  The original version made reference to the DNC being notified by the FBI of the activity, but I don't see anything about that now.  Which is hopefully good.

Editing post publish is not good, it just means they did not want anyone to know about it.

This country's data banks are just wide open to foreign intelligence services, it's criminal how bad it's been.

By the way I'll say there's a 50% chance Team Putin has been will or would share this info with Trump/Manafort.

Not trying to  :pokey: , but what would really be on DNC servers?  I mean donor information but other than that?  Policy/platform stuff isn't very secretive.

All chats and emails and, this is the big thing, opposition research on Republican candidates.  Meaning everything the DNC has on Trump, the Russians have on Trump.

Hinted it was opposition research. Their dirty laundry on Trump. 

Probably because they have enough secrets to extort Hillary and need some on Donald just in case.

He noted that it is extremely difficult for a civilian organization to protect itself from a skilled and determined state such as Russia.

The other, which the firm had named Fancy Bear, broke into the network in late April and targeted the opposition research files.

I'm having a hard time viewing these hackers as hardened government infiltration specialists with code names like "Cozy Bear" and "Fancy Bear".

 
Just a general rumination, how either Republican or Democratic campaign teams could overlook as a very top of the list priority hiring the best network security team that they could afford to secure information that if accessible could be used against them by the other party and foreign intelligence (especially if their candidate wins) absolutely blows my mind.

 
One of my good college buddies actually works as a data analyst for the DNC. From the sound of it, they have known about it for some amount of time before it made the news. 

The WaPo article also says that Trump's campaign was broken in to as well.

This really isn't very shocking. A dedicated team of hackers can gain access to most things they want now. Not sure why anyone would believe anything stored on computers would be secure in this day and age.

Apparently the Russians were mostly interested in getting intelligence on Donald Trump. Guess that means that they expect him to win in November.

Don't most Republicans think that a communist was running for the office of president on the Democratic ticket anyway? I'm sure there will be much hand-wringing about all this until the Repub's go back to watching FOX News swooning over Putin for being a "real leader". 

 
I hear the DNC sanitized their computers with bleach.  Works better than just wiping them with a plain old cloth.
