DNC Leaks...official thread (1 Viewer)

Kind of a vague term there but I get your drift.

Regardless, I'm kinda talked out about it after a year or more of the chatter about it. Arrest whoever and move on. What we seem to be only just grasping now, however, is Trump is in deep with the Russians and they're actively aiding his election campaign. Did he reach out to them? Or did he just get the heads up things were coming down the pike?
:lmao:

Or, maybe, does the actual leak not give a damn about American politics?  Or that it wasn't from Russia and the Dems are just spit-balling to get through another crisis?

Or: Does the content matter more than the source?  It's not like these are fake emails.  These are the thoughts of operatives that have long been seen as Clinton cheerleaders and its now been proven to be so.  #CorruptLivesMatter
I'm not ready to believe Russian hackers had any special hatred for DWS.

When is the next round of leaks? Surely there's more.
Assange has stated that he is planning on releasing info that would ensure Hillary's arrest. Kim Dotcom said the date would be Hillary's birthday, October 20 something.

This may be nothing more than bluster.

However, the DNCLeaks released a few days ago was threatened over a month ago, and the release was exactly what was threatened.

http://www.inquisitr.com/3220132/wikileaks-issues-torrent-insurance-encrypted-file-with-dead-mans-switch/

WikiLeaks has issued an encrypted file for download as a kind of “torrent insurance” ahead of its public release of potentially damning documents. As previously discussed on Inquisitr, Guccifer 2.0’s hack of the DNC servers have already revealed possible collusion between the Hillary Clinton campaign, the mainstream media, and Democratic Party leadership.

While the DNC has neither confirmed nor denied the authenticity of these preliminary releases, WikiLeaks’s torrent insurance prior to the actual document dump could indicate the presence of damaging evidence on Clinton, and possibly even the Obama administration.
:tinfoilhat:

Assange also has "insurance files" to ensure that if anything happens to him the files will be automatically released.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikiLeaks#Insurance_files

On 3 June 2016, Wikileakes released an 87.6 GiB AES-256 encrypted insurance file.

Any nerds know how much space 19,000 emails and 8,000 attachments would take up? Around 87.6 GB or less?

Which is worse?

Trump is buddies with Putin and/or beholden to him because of business loans.

Hillary is blackmailed by Putin because the Russians have incriminating evidence that would put her and/or Bill behind bars.

Sounds like we should be voting Stein or Johnson.

87+ GB is likely a lot more than 27K files or like Quez says it's heavier file types like videos and such, could also be databases or special software, if they grabbed everything they probably dragged in a lot of junk.

Kid actually said originally this more than a year ago though he was vague on content & timing.

19k emails would likely be a bit over .5gb using 30k as an average. Most plain text emails are 5-10k in size. Exchanges back and forth add on to that. Must be some hefty attachments if 19k emails make up the 87gb.

They are probably still hacking people.  Once they get in, they can put key loggers, figure out other people's passwords, other family members passwords, etc.  I have heard about people hacking all of these smart home devices.  There is a chance they could be recording people from their own smart TVs.  Something like that would explain the 87gb.

If the #Russians and #Wikileaks are already tossing #Hillary's salad in July, imagine what's coming in October! What joy!
I don't think anyone should actively cheer a foreign government actively screwing with our elections. Active measures like that are a form of warfare. I can handle the defenses of Trump - IMO his involvement is not necessary or implied here - and people can continue to defend Assange (weak at this point IMO) but actively cheering for essentially having our electoral system being manipulated is indefensible.

What is missing from this list is anything to do with Benghazi.

Benghazi either is a non issue or they are saving it for later.  If they are saving it for later, this makes them no better than the DNC imho.

We don't know for certain that a foreign government is screwing with our elections.  It's irresponsible for you to continue to spread that narrative.  Wake up.  People aren't cheering for our electoral system to be manipulated.  PEOPLE ARE CHEERING FOR TRUTH!

which is of greater concern for you: Russians directly messing with the presidential election or DNC messing with the presidential election? Because I gotta say, for me, a foreign power doing this much much worse. It's bad enough that Trump's in the bag for them, which is kind of interesting considering all the static HRC's gotten with their foundation for influence peddling, but active Russian intervention is taking it to another level.
If the emails were completely fabricated by the Russians, you'd have a point.

True colors.

Are you serious?  All they are doing is exposing the truth.  So we'd rather be left in the dark about this?  People like you are why Hillary has gotten as far as she has and is a breath away from becoming President.  Despite all of her lies, all of the smoke around her after decades of questionable activities, she is the most likely leader of the most powerful nation in the world.

It's freaking despicable that you care more about where the information is coming from than what the information is.  You know what would keep Russia from being involved (allegedly)?  Not having any of this crap out there to be hacked to influence the election.  Don't be a group of dirtbag politicians and you don't have to worry about who is exposing your secrets.  It's not like this is actual government secrets we are talking about.  The DNC is an outside organization who is trying to influence elections.  If they are doing anything wrong it is wonderful they are getting exposed, regardless of who is doing the exposing.

I support the sentiment here.  But, coming from a belief that the DNC for years has been corrupt and committed malpractice of its nomination process, exposure of this corruption, while uncomfortable, is necessary to promote political hygiene and best practices.  An immediate result of this was the ouster of DWS, and that should be a good thing as viewed by any objective observer.  That Hillary scooped her right up should also be instructive and illuminating.

If it was all about truth...would they time out leaks the way they have?

Im glad we are getting the truth...but not understanding that its done for other motives is a naive way to think right now.

And what are those motives, exactly?  Does anyone actually know?  We don't even know for sure that it was Russia.  It is naive to assume you know anything about the motives of who is doing the leaking.

Maybe the people are motivated to not see a corrupt political group in a position of power over most of the world.

you think this is somehow unique to the DNC though? is this so very different than Super PACs and "dark money" for you? where corporations somehow "have feelings" too? please spare me your outrage. this is what the political process is has been for generations in one iteration or another. the RNC isn't any better than the DNC. their turn just hasn't come yet.

A foreign and hostile government is attempting to directly influence the election. would you be more or less outraged if they played with the Board of Elections? if they hacked voting records?

Oh, so straight to the "but they do it to" defense.

I don't give a crap who is exposed.  I want it all out there.  I hate the RNC as much.  I'm voting Johnson.  This all needs to get blowed the F up.

And again, you have NO idea who is doing what, so stop stating it as fact that this was the Russians.

And the other two scenarios you put forth are MUCH different that exposing corruption.  If you can't see the difference, you are part of the problem.

If it takes Russians to open the eyes of Americans on how corrupt their masters in D.C.  are  more power to them.

To influence things is a strong possibility.

Do you not think the timing of the leaks and delaying some of them is meaningful?  That its not just about truth?

I can never figure out what topics we can jump to conclusions on and what ones we can't...it appears we can jump to the conclusion that the Russians hacked this but we can't jump to the conclusion that the DNC needs some sensitivity training based on the content of some of these emails...I think I got that one straight...

Yup. You know who doesn't get blackmailed or embarrassed when their emails leak? Or who don't even have emails leak? People without stuff to hide. It's why all sorts of things can prevent you from getting a security clearance. If your finances are a wreck, it makes you susceptible to bribery. If you are having an affair, you are susceptible to blackmail. When you don't act like a dirtbag, you aren't at risk for those things.

Hey...I thought some of you were all for not being PC and telling it like it is?  Or is that bad now.

Im kidding of course...the emails are bad and not all that surprising.  But a possible connection to a foreign government like Russia (and its hardly a big jump to conclusions... @SaintsInDome2006 has been posting connections to russia for quite some time.

It's gotta be killing the mainstream media that they can't report on the specifics of this.  Some of the leaks are juicy as all get out.

I mean, look at that list Matuski posted. You could throw a dart at that list and hit a topic you could push for a week. It's an orgy of clickbait!

My issue is just jumping to conclusions to fit one's own political agenda (regardless of who does it and what the topic is)...if the Russians are doing this (meaning with the help of the government) than we have a serious issue that needs to be addressed ASAP...foreign governments/entities influencing our affairs from afar is a recipe for disaster...we do need to get to the bottom of how this happened...that being said that should have zero bearing on how we view these emails...also, if this occurred you can't tell me it's very plausible that Hillary was hacked with her homebrew concoction...

It was a cool set up man. Not stiff like the republicans.  You cabt have hip and cool with a bunch of red white and blue flying around.

Its a weak criticism...there were flags in the crowd...on both sides near the stage and the whole stage and background was red and blue with stars.

I don't think anyone confused it with something that wasn't happening in this country.  Its petty nitpicking...but not unexpected.

Demconvention.com/live has more than 7 hours of yesterday's events. No flags on the stage or anywhere around the arena. Plenty of red, white and blue, but still a little strange to me.

I have always assumed foreign governments are directly/indirectly trying to influence our elections.  We definitely try to influence elections in other countries.

This seems pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.  Better IT security would help, but the DNC is a private organization.  Not much we can do if their IT security sucks.

@csoghoian @pwnallthethings Infiltrating party emails for espionage? Not great but everyone does it. Mass leaks to alter outcome? Problem.
- This is a former NSA attorney.

I'm a transparency freak/geek. If it's official or public record I want it out there, unless there's some damage that could occur to someone personally or to countries.

But people should realize - this is the second time this has happened with WikiLeaks. - The first time Snowden, yes of course we all have varying views, I've had positive and negative feelinsgs both about what he did and has done, but know this: it has weakened the US relationship with the European allies, especially Germany, but also to some degree France. There is no doubt that Putin profited from that and the mistrust has continued through Brexit and now this discord that Trump is fomenting with NATO.

Good point about the private organization...
