Do most NFL teams have Training Camp elsewhere? (3 Viewers)

I think most travel, and one of the main reasons is to get added exposeure in areas where they are trying to sell more tickets.

Good question, though. Lets get some homers to chime in on whether or not their team does.

The Bills do.

I just heard that Jacksonville trains at their stadium. ?????

...and don't the Pack and Niners traing at their normal training facility too?

Most travel to locations that are remote so they can focus on football and not other issues.

Seahawks........... Cheney, Washington ............ If you have been there you know what I mean.

Baltimore and Philly travel to regional colleges - campus affords them what they need and a closed environment.

Washington used to do the same until Dan Snyder got greedy and wanted to charge fans $10 to come watch practices.

IIRC the Giants go to FDU in NJ as well.

SF goes to Santa Clara I believe.

That's why the Bucs currently travel to O-town and hold camp at Disney. The facilities are also top notch.Next year, it moves to the new complex in Tampa...and Gruden has stated he is happy to get away from the glitz of Mousecatraz.

Entirely possible. The Chiefs practice at River Falls in Wisconsin.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Where?

Broncos used to practice in Greeley (north of Denver about 60 miles) at the UNC campus. I do miss the days in Greeley, but many people like it better out at Dove Valley.

Green Bay used to practice at St. Norbert's college...but now does at the practice facility across the street.

The Titans had been practicing at their facility, but this year are traveling up to Clarkesville, TN for camp.

Pats used to practice at Bryant College in R.I., and many years ago they were a couple of hours away at UMass. But since they built Gillette, camp has been held there.

The Sporting News dedicated an entire issue to NFL Training Camps a couple of weeks ago (threw my copy away :loco: ). Most teams hold their training camps relatively close to their facility, Dallas and KC travel the farthest, IIRC, to CA and MN, respectively. The article noted a trend toward staying close, if not at, their team HQ.

OK, I can see the 'boys travelling - IIRC they used to go to AZ before the Cards showed up. But how does MN make sense for KC?? Convenience to other teams to scrimmage?

The Jags traveled to Wisconsin their first year ('95) to escape the Florida heat, only to land in the middle of a 100+ degree heat wave.

Since then, they've stayed home.

Bengals training camp is a little over an hour south of Cincinnati in Georgetown, KY. Talking of moving back to PBS when contract expires after next season I believe.

Giants go to SUNY ALBANY now which is 3 hours north of the stadium. They are definitely not trying to sell more tickets as they are sold out for the duration of my life but are looking for that closed football environment as someone stated. Jets are at Hofstra for another year but are moving to their own location in jersey next year (florham park).

Cowboys have never trained in AZ. They were in California during the Tom Landry days, then when Jerry Jones took over they tried out Austin, San Antonio, and Wichita Falls before going back to California for the past three years. Next year they are back in San Antonio. An interesting list of training camp sites for the Cowboys:

1960 - Forest Grove, OR

1961 - Northfield, MN

1962 - Marquette, MI

1963 - 1988 - Thousand Oaks, CA

1989 - 1997 - Austin, TX

1998 - 2001 - Wichita Falls, TX

2002 - 2003 - San Antonio, TX

2004 - 2006 - Oxnard, CA

2007 - 2011 - San Antonio, TX

KC is the only one that goes outside of its territory. Most of the other teams go 50 miles or less.
