do NFL players, coaches etc frequent FBG? (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
just wondering if NFL players or people who work for the NFL stop by FBG. im sure someone out there knows a player or two. no names are required, just a "yes" or "no" answer will suffice. i was just wondering if people with a real stake in football even know places like this exist.

Definately. This must be one of the more popular national football related boards... at the LEAST, PR and marketing people have to be here (or they at least should be).

I know that on islandermania.com there are frequent visits (unannounced and anonymous) that occur, although granted, that has a much more target audience.

I have it on good word that Troy Williamson frequently comes here and reads the disparaging remarks made about him, upon which he promptly breaks into tears and grabs a tub of ice cream so he can drown his sorrows in sugary goodness. But just as Troy is raising the spoon to his lips, he drops the carton and spills the ice cream all over the ground. And then Troy Williamson cries.

That's cruelly delicious.

No.ETA: Yeah, I'm sure there's a guy here and there - but not many at all.
I'm a starting QB that gets bashed here left and right.
hint please
He posted this in another thread:
yeah, theres no way Philly dishes out Andrews AND Jackson AND a first in 09 AND a first in '10 for Chad Johnson. If so I will stop watching and move out of Philadelphia.
Golly Mr. McNabb! It's a pleasure to meet you!

We know that Cooley is a big Fantasy Football Player
Aren't you supposed to be on your honeymoon about now?Hey, I know Tatum Bell and Scott Norwood are around. Those aliases have to be real, right? :thumbdown:I'll add this, and I'm not joking on this one. There is a poster here I've PMed back and forth with, really good guy, who is well known in another sport (not one of the major team sports). Don't ask me who, either here or in PM.Also, I'd be willing to guess Cato June comes here. FBG is well known, and he is an avid FFer.

Much like NFL execs check out profootballtalk, I'm sure football players check out fantasy football sites. Choice of site may vary.

They just wouldn't be massive posters. Mostly just lurking anonymously.

Alot of people are into Fantasy Football. I am sure there are a few pro-athletes that frequent these boards. I would say PGA golfers represent here well.

Tell you what, we can do this. I'm an honest ethical, fair guy, as anyone who knows me well enough from leagues and this board can attest. I can be trusted.

If you're a well known person, whether in sports, entertainment, industry, politics, whatever, and want to contribute to this thread so that folks can learn that well known people do in fact come here, PM me and tell me who you are. I won't reveal who you are (won't tell your board name either of course), but will reveal what you're willing to let me reveal to the board -- what it is that makes you well known and some vague details that won't give away your identity. For example, if you are Manny Ramirez, you could allow me to reveal that you are a player for the Boston Red Sox and leave it at that. You'd have to figure out a way that I'd believe you, and I don't know how we'd do that. But anyway, I'd then come to the thread and post what I am permitted to tell, and let the board know whether I believe the person to be telling the truth or not.

Let's see if there are any takers, other than the frauds who are sure to show up. "Hi, this is EBF. I'm really George W. Bush. I really have too much time on my hands..."

I just emailed Cowboys LB Kevin Burnett about this. I'll let you know what I find out as far as Cowboy players are concerned.

You think they'd talk among themselves about coming to this site? I'd be surprised if he knew, even if they did come here.By the way, in one of my fantasy leagues (about 10 years online now), there's a guy whose real name is the same as a pretty well known major league baseball player in his day (a couple of decades back now). Not the most common of names either. I asked him a couple of times whether he was the ballplayer, in trade talk emails or whatever, and never received a reply to that question. Since then I've always just assumed he is who I think he is.

Well, for one thing, I know it's Kevin Burnett I'm emailing, if that's what you're getting at.As far as the other stuff regarding the players, it never hurts to ask. Being a reporter, you'd be surprised with answers I've gotten over the years from lesser questions. Some people naturally talk more freely than others.

No, I wasn't questioning whether it's Burnett or not. Just whether he'd know who comes here. It'll be interesting to see what he says.

...and then Chris Hanson enters from behind the curtain in the corner of the room.

I'm pretty sure people in the organizations frequent a site like this. The people who enjoy following football as much as we do have very valid opinions

I spent some time working for the league. Neither this site - nor any other FF site - ever really came up in related discussions with players or other coworkers, but that could be in large part because participation in fantasy football leagues and sources that weren't officially sponsored by the NFL were frowned upon.

Update a day later. No PMs from Kings, Senators, Generals, Hall of Famers, Tiger Woods, Bill Gates, Charlie Manson, Jessica Simpson, Tim McGraw, Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, ARod, Sidney Crosby, or anybody else.Shocking isn't it?

I think Matt Millen comes here from time to time to see who he should go with in the next draft

Seriously, do you think a poll (here, NOT in the FFA) would work?

Would the results even be close to accurate?

i.e. options:

- NFL player

- MLB player

- TV Sports commentator (ESPN, Local media, etc.)

- Sports writer, columnist or radio personality

- I'm just your average, multi-millionare, super-model-wife-having FBG who can throw a Ritz cracker into orbit.

- I'm Smoo

- or do you think everyone would just jerk around and screw it up?
