Do the Packers have a realistic shot at going undefeated? (2 Viewers)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
Four down, twelve to go. I see only three potential difficult games, which are in bold for your viewing pleasure.

==========================

9/8 vs. New Orleans Saints - WON 42-34

9/18 @ Carolina Panthers - WON 30-23

9/25 @ Chicago Bears - WON 27-17

10/2 vs. Denver Broncos - WON 49-23

10/9 @ Atlanta Falcons

10/16 vs. St. Louis Rams

10/23 @ Minnesota Vikings

-BYE-

11/6 @ San Diego Chargers

11/14 vs. Minnesota Vikings

11/20 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

11/24 @ Detroit Lions

12/4 @ New York Giants

12/11 vs. Oakland Raiders

12/18 @ Kansas City Chiefs

12/25 vs. Chicago Bears

1/1 vs. Detroit Lions

If they can get that defense figured out they do. Aaron Rodgers is playing like the second coming of, well Aaron Rodgers.

They will have a shot when and if they stop giving up 400 yards thru the air every game. 14-2, 15-1 team.

The interesting thing is, if they are 14-0, I can't see McCarthy taking his foot off the gas pedal.

Look who the last two opponents are.

Gotta think Rodgers gets dinged up somewhere like last year which will slow him down a bit, someday a team will go undefeated in a 16 game schedule...I just don't see this as the team to do it.

Lock for homefield advantage in playoffs, however, and return to the SB this year.

12-4 team.Losses at Det, SD, ATL and maybe NY.
The first three are certainly possible, but the Giants are a very flawed 3-1 team. Unless Rodgers throws 4 picks, they win that game.
The Giants seem to play to their opponents level whether it is a good team or a bad team. I wouldn't be surprise if they could beat the Packers. Remember what happened the last time a team almost went undefeated?

Yeah, the Pats went into Giants Stadium at 15-0 and won. ;)

Now would probably be a good time to mention this, since I didn't make it clear. I'm talking about regular season ONLY.

Anything can happen when you have to play three good teams in the playoffs.

Someone in the NFC North will beat them. I can't remember the last time anyone SWEPT the division.
The Bears did it in 1987, when it was the NFC Central.
Exactly. This division is BLACK and BLUE. Allow me to show you how recently other divisions have been swept.AFC EAST 2007 Patriots

I'm sure you realize the Bears almost did it last year, before losing 10-3 at Green Bay in week 17.

Yes, allow me to quote my post from above.

EDIT: The last time it happened was in 85 + 87 by the Bears. It seems like every time there is a powerhouse team in the NFC North, they ALWAYS lose one divisional game.

Didn't go back to see your edit. Yeah, it's certainly not an easy thing to do, but the Pack looks pretty special.

Eh, they're suspect. I pick the Vikings, Buccaneers, Lions, and Raiders as teams whom could beat them. The only impressive victory so far was over the Saints.

They don't have the defense to do it and at some point Rodgers will have a rough patch. But they don't really play a lot of good teams the rest of the way.

Right now their defense is suspect. Pretty confident that Dom Capers will find a way to right that ship however. The run defense is already rock solid at #2 in the league. Just a matter of putting together the pass D. The talent is back there, they just need to adjust to life without Nick Collins, and get Sam Shields playing to his 2010 level. Aaron Rodgers is playing so well right now, I'm not sure if there is a defense in the league that can hold them to less than the 27 they posted vs the Bears. They've got a ton of weapons to choose from too. Obviously going 16-0 is extremely difficult, and it would be an extremely difficult accomplishment. Barring a Rodgers injury though, I'd be surprised if this team finished worse than 13-3, with 14 or 15 wins more likely IMO.

put me on board with the ones saying they will lose this week to ATL
I think they wax ATL this week.I am a blind, drooling, Packer fan, and they will NOT go undefeated.13-3 is my call. Detroit, San Diego, and probably the Bears will trip us up.I will say, confidently, we are the team to beat in the NFC, much less the whole league. The D now has holes that can be exploited, but this offense is truly sick to watch. My 2 cents.

Really? :lmao: :lmao: I'll give you everyone but the Vikes. They are a JV team. (Hi Arctic Edge!)Of your other 3, I see the Lions, Raiders (love them), and Bucs in that order. IMO, the Bucs don't stand a chance. IMO.

If their defense returns to form, I'd give them a somewhat slim chance, but if not, no shot. Remember the 2000 Rams? Coming off a Super Bowl win, their defense was awful early on, but the offense was so dominating that many figured it wouldn't matter. But it did. Same thing could happen here, although the Packers defense won't fall as far as the Rams defense did.

The defense will come.around, but the offense will slow. This offense will have to be able to run the ball much better especially with 5 home games n November and December. Outside of domes last year it was the defense that won those games for them. The offense struggles when they HAVE to run the ball. Detroit's d line will be a problem.

So potential losses against Atlanta (if they can get pressure), Sand diego, tampa bay, giants, bears and Vikings.

I don't think it will happen, going undefeated. 12-4 or 13-3. There will be a clunker against an inferior team soon. Would be the Vikings or K.C. super bowl.

To predict anyone to go undefeated, shows how out of touch you are with the reality of the situation...and how you are a prisoner of the moment.

Remember only 2 teams ever have gone undefeated in the reg season, to think its that easy is comical.

Everything has to go right, you forget, this team went 10-6 last year. Finley and Grant (Whos already hurt) dont give them 6 extra wins. Especially with a very good team who is on a mission in the same division.

They lose to Detroit in Detroit on Thxgiv in front of a sold out crowd who has been waiting for a year like this for a long time. Plus, add to the fact Detroit has gotten better and beat them last year, you know, when they knocked the boy wonder out opf the game.

I don't think anyone is fully predicting them to go undefeated.

Do they have a chance? Sure.

Not a great chance...but they or the Lions have a chance, being that they have yet to lose a game.

Will it happen? Not likely.

As others mentioned...the defense is not good right now (I would not count out this defense just yet though...)

I agree with this... it feels like a huge trap game to me. ATL was the NFC leader last year, yet are playing horrible and are lucky to even be 2-2 through 4 games. The Packers are undefeated after dominating Atlanta in the playoffs last year and they look like no one can stop them through 4 games. Think this game ends in high scoring probably somewhere in the ball park of 35-27 or more. ATL wins.

Chance? Sure, but so do the lions.

Realistic chance? Doubt it. Defense is playing way worse than they did last year. I see 9 games where I wouldn't be shocked to see them lose. Not saying they'd lose all 9, but wouldn't be shocked if they lose any of the following games:

@Atlanta -> Revenge game for Atlanta from the embarrassment last year. Road games are tough for any team.

@Minnesota -> Division game on the road. Obviously a low chance of losing this game, but I still think it's realistic.

@San Diego -> Another road game against a playoff caliber team.

Vs. Tampa -> Tampa is a team that plays to the level of their competition. IF the game is close in the 4th, Freeman has shown a knack for pulling games out.

@Detriot -> Monster matchup. First time in a long time it'll be fun to watch the lions play on turkey day.

@NYG -> Giants another team that plays to the level of the competition. A healthy D-line could put pressue on Rodgers and force mistakes.

Oakland -> Another low probability chance, but still possible. Oakland can run on anyone, and should they find themselves with a lead, they may just bleed the clock and keep rodgers on the sideline.

Chicago -> Another good team that plays the Packers close. Don't think that if the Packers are 14-0 at this point, Chicago doesn't do everything in their power to stop them.

Detriot-> Rematch of Turkey day. Playoff implications could be on the line. Again if Packers are 15-0 at this point, don't think that Detroit doesn't pull out all the stops.

I agree with they. They lose at SD and at Det and have one other slip up during the season and the Bears game makes sense. Those picking Atlanta this weekend are nuts. Unless Atlanta's been holding back, they've looked terrible so far this year. GB goes down there and puts another beating on them.

They'll be a bit healthier (maybe) by then though. Tuck and Prince should be back. Osi, Tuck and JPP applying constant pressure on Rodgers and an offense that is starting to click, gives them a shot at an upset at least.

IMO they lose to one of the last 2 opponents.

I don't like adding more fuel to the fire for the Lions hype, but I will reserve judgement until I see these 2 play each other. Detroit not only has the offensive firepower to compete, but they have a solid pass defense too. My guess is these two split with each other.
