You order your 2 slices or General Tso chicken.

You go up to counter to get your food you then sit down eat and then get up to pay when your done.
I voted yes, but I don't think that I'd ever eat at an inefficient place that required me to go to the counter three separate times.
Ain't it kinda the norm?

1.

"Hi, I'll take a white slice and a meat lover slice."

"Sure, no a problem"

:goes and sits down:

2.

"whitea slicea and a meata lova pizta itsa ready"

:goes up to get food:

3.

:goes up to pay:

"Yea, i had the white slice and meat lovers pizza with a pop"

"what da hella is a pop!!!! Ehhhh funguloo!!!....Itsa $6.50"
I think I'd walk out of any place that was set up like this. If they're that inefficient with their business the food must be awful.

So many people have trouble just being a reasonable member of society. Can't believe there are non-schtick "no" votes. You guys should never eat out again, and just let the garbage pile up in your ####### yurts. Primitives.
i voted no because the question is confusing. virtually all of the pizza and chinese restaurants around me are sit down places they bring the food and clear the tables, so I tip and leave.
Interesting. In my area, pizza places are either counter service where you are called up for your meal, or full Italian restaurants with hostesses, bus boys and servers.

And I've never eaten in a chinese place, unless it was a buffet. Most chinese places are built for pick-up/take-out/delivery where I come from with maybe one ####ty table out front to sit at while you wait for your food, at best.
Those are the operative words. Most pizza parlors you can easily discern whether they are set to pick up or not.

We clear our table and wipe it down if at all possible. Leave it like we would like to find it. And we don't care if everyone else does it or not. That's the standard by which we live, #######it.
And by "we" you mean the bride servant you purchased from China right?
 She doesn't go to fast food type joints. By "we" I mean the kids.
Ah, should have known. Too busy with household work.

Never been to a counter service place where you pay after you eat. You order, pay, eat, throw away your garbage, and leave.
prettymuch every pizzeria in NY is pay after youre done

If they have easily accessible trash cans and room for trays, I will toss it. If they have busboys roaming the dining area and no visible trash cans, I leave it. My last two casual dining meals had bus boys roaming.

Ok,

Was starting to wonder cause every pizza and Chinese place seems to do that as well.

Sometimes I pay ahead and there have been places where when I offer to pay 1st they tell me to pay afterwards.

must be a regional thing.

The answer is easy here - if you see a trash can where you can drop your tray off on top off and throw your stuff away, it's there for a reason. Also, I don't recall ever having to throw stuff away when there's a waiter or waitress. Closest would be fazoli's where they bring you food and extra breadsticks but you pay for your food at the counter.

I wonder if there is a correlation between the no voters and people who don't put their shopping carts up.
1. people who voted no.

2. People who dont put away their shopping carts.

3. People who dont use turn signals.

4. People who drive slow in the fast lane.

5. People who call soda "pop" or "coke"

All the same people.

Let's say your local pizza or Chinese joint...

You order your 2 slices or General Tso chicken.

You go up to counter to get your food you then sit down eat and then get up to pay when your done.

Do you clear your table and throw your stuff out in the garbage or do you just leave it on the table?

I have never been able to just leave my stuff behind but see many people who do.
The only place i go where I get food on a tray and pay after is the local K&W cafeteria. I do leave my dishes on the table there as they have staff but I also leave a buck for the cleanup. Most places where you get your food you pay when you get it and there is no floor staff so of course, since I am not a barbarian, I take care of my trash myself.

One of these things don't go together, one of these do not belong. :singing:

If I picked my food up from a counter, yes.

If a waiter/waitress brought me my food, no.

Don't think there is really any gray in this one.
Chick Fila near me. You order at register and sit down and someone will bring out your food....

WHAT DO YOU DO!!

What about 'tonic' for #5?

We moved to MA in the 70s from Chicago, and on her first shopping trip, my mother noticed an aisle marked 'tonic;' her first thought was 'Wow these people out here must drink a lot of gin!'

If you call it tonic, then I think mandatory commitment in a good mental illness facility is in order.

Looks like it has largely died in the Boston Area. This was from a couple years ago.

If you leave your dishes, do you tip?

Seems an easy rule.
Exactly. I see two options:

1. Clean up your dishes/throw things away. Don't tip.

2. Leave your dishes, tip a few bucks.

And heck, if you clean up after yourself and tip them (for essentially doing nothing) you're a better man than me.

There's a few pizza joints in eastern PA that have you pay at the end. Now that I think back on it though, it is kinda weird.

You'd have to be a complete moron to not know which places would like you to throw your own trash away.

Eh, I've been to a few counter serve bbq joints or tacquerias where you sorta order one place, pick your food up at another or maybe it'll be brought, but seating is family style. There's one near my office that really is pretty random whether somebody will come get your trash for you. But I'd agree that the odds are you'll see some other table finish and either just do what they do or, if you truly don't know, bus yourself or leave the plates with a few dollar tip.
