Do you have "fun" playing poker? I mean real fun (1 Viewer)

For those that do or did play live..can you find a better feeling than felting the table stooge in a monster hand?

That to me is what separates poker from other table games. You can totally bust out another person and just wreck them. I had one guy who I revered and he jumped up doing this Rocky pose and I got to tell him that he looked great celebrating my win. That moment was just better than any split into double blackjack hand I could imagine.
If you meant to type "rivered" this story makes a lot more sense.
Yes my phone has once again saved me from my own sentence. I rivered the guy when he thought he had felted me and slapped a big win against the tool of the table. No sweeter moment in a casino IMO

Poker pro (the kind who makes a modest amount, say 75k a year in a normal area) to me, would be the worst job imaginable. I would rather file papers in a stack 8 hours a day.

"Game"?? Aren't games fun?
You'd rather file papers 8 hours a day than play poker 8 hours a day?

Is this shtick? :loco:
Yes. Yes I would.

I would rather be bored than to be bored and constantly annoyed and uncomfortable

I do wish pokerstars would come back as I still miss a good sit-n-go as something to do on a rainy night instead of watch a mindless TV show.

Also before the poker "boom" happened, my local card room had a really nice selection of games.. limit hold 'em, pot limit hold 'em, Omaha H/L, Stud, Stud H/L If you got bored with one thing you could try something different.

Now there's only a 4-8 limit hold 'em game and a NL game... almost no variety
Poker online was actually fun. Could listen to music, have a game on, sit in a comfy chair with my feet up, drink a couple beers at state minimum prices........

Amen. That moment after the hyper-aggressive tool (he's never wearing sunglasses or a hoodie in my limited experience), who has either had 8 hands of crazy good luck or just bets crazy no matter what, pushes all-in when you say "call" with a real hand is priceless. That slapping the table/throwing up his arms/derisive snort as he angrily slings his J-3 on the table is truly awesome. Generally after he storms off, everyone at the table gives you that sweet complement of "good call". Nothing remotely like it in the casino.

Love live poker in the poker rooms. I get to play 6-8 times a year and look forward to it. I always go on a Fri or Sat night to maximize the drunk players that like to splash around. If you are playing with local rocks and moops, then you need to hit the casino later in the day.

I play low limit....4-8 limit, with a full kill. The games get juicy sometimes, but it is what it is....bingo. You have to leave your temper at the door.

It is social, and fun. Lots of TVs with the games on, and the dealers keep things moving well.

If I lose, ah well...it was a night out away from the wife and kids.

BTW...on Fri night, they have been spreding 100-200 limit games that break sunday morning. Way over my head. Those games look like work, and they are way less social over there...LOL

Exactly what I'd do to relax. Game, beers, music, poker, some online chat, maybe some pron, a sandwich, doing some pushups at the 5 min hourly breaks. Great entertainment.

Actually saw this last weekend while playing...

This is 2-5 NL. Not just a "for fun" game. You would think people would care to pay attention a bit.

Guy to my right has his Ipad on his lap and iPhone in one of his hands the entire game. He's acting slowly, constantly has to be prompted to act while his mind is buried in using both his Iphone and Ipad at the same time.

Ipad was on his lap leaning against the table, so I could clearly see he wasn't using it to calc hands or anything. Just sitting there doing work it appeared.

Finally leaves...

Younger girl sits down in his place.

Cell phone immediately goes over her cup holder and headphones go in. She puts on Netflix and some headphones and stares down watching TV almost the entire time. Has to be nudged that it's her action at least 10 times. Even while in an all in hand for a few thousand dollars, she's immersed in Netflix, not watching the action.

This type of crap is now far more common than just headphones and hoodies in live poker and has to stop.

I just don't get this shtick. Showing up to play poker for real money, then sitting around and acting like you have 400 other things you'd rather be doing, so you do them at the table. The dealers are so young now and rarely say anything to these people. I don't bother complaining.

They need to go back to just banning cell phones completely for live play. You want to play poker, go play ####### poker. Using it to catch up on Arrested Development is terrible.

Thats on the casino IMO. In the places Ive been, if your phone comes out, your hand is folded (or you are at least warned about it). I doubt they would stop you from watching it if it was sitting there and you werent "on the phone", but I cant imagine why they would make other players put up with the constant nudging.

They want people playing, so the fewer rules the better for them.

Was in a casino with a Royal Flush promo on.. If you got a royal flush while playing you get an extra 500.. everybody else at the table gets $100.. one of the rules... no phones are allowed out during the hand.. They would check the camera's for phones when one happened too.. I was at a 1/2 table when a guy hit one. For the amount of time it took to "verify" the hand it sure seemed like they checked the camera's for phones and all before he and we got paid.

Almost no phones where out on the tables every time I was playing during that promotion.
