So, my story is likely the same as many of you.... hated coffee when I was younger... thru end of HS into Uni, I started grabbing a coffee... into adulthood, coffee every day... every morning etc etc

Yesterday might have been the first morning I didnt have a coffee to start my day, as I was rushed outta the house... by early afternoon, I seriously felt like a sack of crap.

Had my coffee, finally, and started to feel a bit better.

This seems like an addiction to me.. But hey, I love it.

What about you? Do you need a coffee to start your day?

I never was into coffee until a few years ago. We use a grinder and make a fresh brew everyday.

Miorga Coffee = :moneybag:

It's so good that I can't drink anything else. Starbucks, dunkin, all too light and taste horrible to me now.

ya, I went out and spent nearly $1000 on a Saeco machine from Italy (for espresso and americanos)... Hell, if I use it 2-3 times a day, why not? Awesome burr grinder...

For regular joe, I use a french press (bodum)... best coffee Ive had.

I don't need it. On the occasional day off, I'm fine.

But I do want it every day.

I drink a single, strong 12-oz portion brewed in a french press first thing every morning, and I'm set for the day.

Usually 1-2 a day during the week. Black. I have 1 cup when I get into work. I might have another at like 2 or 3 if I'm dragging after lunch, but that isn't often and I feel like it doesn't always help at that point anyway. Sometimes I'll have an espresso at that time instead of coffee as well. Again, pretty rarely.

Weekends it depends. Some days none. Some 1-2 in the morning if we make a pot and are staying home. I like the occasional latte or mocha if I'm out.

I don't know if I need it or not. When i go without I'm not getting headaches or anything like that.

Yep. Any iced coffee drinkers out there? I'm also pretty serious about good coffee. Traveling can be tough on me because NO has a particular type of coffee, and it it's a struggle to find decent stuff on the road. Best coffee shop I found in Boston I went out of my for when I was up there and i built my morning schedule around it. Same thing everywhere from L.A. to Memphis to Providence to Paris. It's also a great way to learn a city, hunting around for good brew.

I voted no, but it is actually "kind of"... During the week I'll make a travel mug of coffee to take with me on the ride to work. Then the guys in the office make coffee and I might have another cup or two throughout the day. But on the weekends, I don't drink it most of the time.

So YES for work... NO on the weekends.

I'm addicted but I will miss days on rare occasions. I usually make it myself. If I'm running late and the only thing available is a Starbucks or Caribou Coffee type place then I go without. I'd rather not have any than spend a couple bucks on just a cup of coffee.

I was a heavy coffee drinker for many, many years. I gave it up about three weeks ago and gave up caffeine all together one week ago. It has been a rough transition but feeling better as a result.

I could and have survived without it but certainly feel better with it. voted yes

almost never buy coffee from a coffee shop

I put each bean under a Scanning Electron Microscope and carefully bisect it into equal pieces until I have 64 small bean fragments. Then I crush each one into a coarse grind and put I through a mesh filter made from the hair of Danish virgins

We import our water from the Swiss alps and I have a special device to keep the heat at exactly 201.4 degrees

I let this slow drip for an hour before drinking

It's a little time intensive but it's so much better than that swill you guys are drinking

Several cups of black coffee virtually every day since I've been 20 with the exception of a couple stretches when I tried to quit. I don't have much interest in trying to quit again. I don't smoke, infrequently drink alcohol, and watch my diet so I'll allow myself this one vice.

i really wouldnt call drinking black coffee a vice. It has very many benefits and few cons.

Yep one in the morning. One at night. Cant live without them
That seems pretty smart. Take one to jump start the workday then another to jump start your night. I wonder how much that would affect my sleep though. I usually don't have any caffeine after 1 or 2 pm.

A lot of it can't be good for you though, right? I fall into a similar boat as jux. I forced myself to switch to black when I was 20ish because I was drinking too much of it.

well too much of anything isnt good but i still wouldn't call it a vice because coffee has many health benefits

I'll drink at least one every day from my Keurig, but I use the reusable k-cup with my own coffee. At work ill generally drink 2-3 before lunch and one around 2. On weekends its generally just 1 maybe 2, unless I have a hangover then it seems to be more.

I don't always have coffee at night, but if I'm dragging and I have stuff to do, absolutely. Personally, I need it by 6 pm though, any later and it screws with my sleep.

Maybe I'm a caffeine proof, I can drink a cup 5 minutes before sleep and it has no impact. It does seem to was me up more but I think its more the taste/smell that I associate with waking up. I switched to decaf for awhile and didnt notice much difference. I just can't find decaf in the flavor I like

Yeah caffeine has no impact on me at night.

One cup in the morning and one after lunch. Any later and I can't fall asleep. Any less and I'm dragging all afternoon.

I get what you're saying but the times when I quit I noticed I was a bit calmer and slept better at night. My assumption is it's probably best to have zero drug addictions, even the minor ones like caffeine.

I started drinking it black because I'm lazy.

Yes, I either need coffee or something with equivalent caffeine for work days. I enjoy a nice pot of coffee on a weekend day too, if there is time and I'm not hungover. Really done a good job over the last year limiting my coffee in the afternoon to help with sleeping/heartburn.

Yup, 2-3 cups every day, with unsweetened coconut milk. Very seldom after noon, though, unless I'm really dragging then I might grab one at 3-4:00.

I'll have a single cup in the morning 2-3 times during the week. Never have any after 3:30pm as it affects my sleep too much. Weekends I'll make a pour over and drink 2 cups.

My old man has been putting himself to sleep w an espresso and sambuca since before I was born.

He's snoring within 10minutes after.

One of the rarely-discussed blessings of age is that, once one gets old enough where there's more concern about pain than energy in the course of a day, one is released from needing anything to muddle through, unless one is locked in to a ritual.

I drink my coffee differently from anyone i know. Visiting the Corinth canal yrs ago, I ordered an iced coffee at a food stand. The proprietor drew tap water into a soda glass, put a spoon of Nescafe instant and some cream in it and put the glass up on one of those ol' green milkshake carousels for a spin. The coffee was bitter like instant but delightfully frothy. A few experiments and now each day i fill a 36 oz Aladdin tumbler with water, half&half and three monstrous spoons of Yuban crystals and attack it - at the bottom of a sink to contain splatter - with an immersion blender til there's foam. Ice it and lug it around all day, no matter the season.

Have about 3-5 cups of black a day. If I don't have any caffeine by about 1pm I get a massive headache.

Nah. I'll usually only have one cup in the morning, sometimes as many as 2 or 3 during the day, depending on what kind of job I'm on and what hours I'm working.

Some days I don't have any coffee.
